  • In order to keep our recommendations up to date, we maintain a 'Buyer's Guide' (with a wide spectrum of models, and a lot of technical and lifestyle-related information). Organizing our recommendations this way makes it easier to include good models that we haven't made review-videos for yet, as well as to remove models which have developed unforeseen wear-issues over time, or which have been weakened by the manufacturer in their current iterations. You can access the guide (in addition to our 4-part video series on Choosing the Right Stroller for your Lifestyle, and other helpful content) on Patreon: / stroller-buyers-37953864
These materials are also available via channel membership on UA-cam: / @barnevognverkstedno , and BuyMeaCoffee: buymeacoffee.c...
In this first of three parts, I discuss the causes and procedures for repairing the central locking mechanism of a Bugaboo Cameleon chassis. If you find that your stroller is weak or unstable on one or both sides of the central locking mechanism, or that you are unable to fold or unfold your stroller, then these two videos are for you.

    How to get Parts:
We tend to use secondhand parts for most of our repairs. If you need to get parts, Bugaboo sells some spare parts and repair kits on their website. For a cheaper alternative, or to get parts that Bugaboo does not sell loose, we reccomend 3d printing options. Check Shapeways or contact 'Bugaboo Repair Guy' on Facebook. Be sure to let him know we led you to him. :)

Thanks so much for this. I was about to start dismantling the whole central mechanism then came across this video. Sure enough the screw was missing and when I looked inside there was no spring. Replaced the spring and it's working perfectly now. Thanks so much!!

Now removed the spring from other side, measured it and ordered it from a local hardware store. Bugaboo and their service divisions would not sell me the spring. (They are useless).
Fitted the spring as instructed and worked a treat.
Buggy now locks properly on both arms.
Thank you very much for your help.

Thanks, this helped us fix ours. Better than the £200 new chassis that bugaboo recommended.

Great video and since looking at it, I have realised that the spring has gone missing which is why I'm probably having the issue with the left arm on the bugaboo not locking correctly. The only down side is that I cannot find the correct spring for the life of me.Can anyone help with a supplier in the UK please ? If not a serial code for the spring or the dimensions of the spring would be a big help.

The most likely culprit is a bent axel on one of your back wheels. In this case you can try to bend it back or buy another wheel. Additionally, it may be that the brakes are hanging on one side or that one or more wheels have rusted or are full of mud and grit and turn slower and with more effort (if this is the case, clean them with the aid of wd40, or swap out the ball bearings). Lastly, the frame may be bent or broken such that more weight presses down on one side :-)

our bugaboo cameleon 1 seems to have less resistance in the central locking joint on one side and sits slightly lopsided. it does have resistance if i unlock the other side and push down but seems to be less (or kicks in later) than the other side which i think causes the slight imbalance in the pram.. the spring at top of handle seems fine is this a problem worth investigating in the central joint? thanks for the awesome videos by the way they're a huge help worked great on the front wheel!
    cheers for the help

Any idea how to fix the lock gear that has jammed (so the release button isn't popping all the way out and it won't lock)??

Great video. Can anyone help me with the size of this spring or where to buy. I have looked everywhere. I opened the other side and to my surprise there was no spring in that side.

The spring could be hiding up in the black housing, it sits pretty tightly on a peg in there. Otherwise, I'll check and get back to you :)

How do i remove the screw??

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo

On the inside of the handle-height regulation mechanism, in most cases there will be a rivet rather than a screw, so it needs to be drilled. If you mean the screws beneath the panel housing the folding trigger, which hold the wire extending down to the central locking mechanism, then you need a REALLY small screwdriver head, I recommend getting an electronics screwdriver set.
