In this second of three parts, I discuss the causes and procedures for repairing the central locking mechanism of a Bugaboo Cameleon chassis. If you find that your stroller is weak or unstable on one or both sides of the central locking mechanism, or that you are unable to fold or unfold your stroller, then these two videos are for you.

How to get Parts:
We tend to use secondhand parts for most of our repairs. If you need to get parts, Bugaboo sells some spare parts and repair kits on their website. For a cheaper alternative, or to get parts that Bugaboo does not sell loose, we reccomend 3d printing options. Check Shapeways or contact 'Bugaboo Repair Guy' on Facebook. Be sure to let him know we led you to him. :)

It turns out that one of the small metal pieces in the central locking mechanism on our bugaboo was broken. we discovered they are called handle ratchets and have found a website to buy them. we are in the UK and the site is called buggy pitstop. thanks again. so helpful.

Great! Thank you very much. I've just saves 300€ with your suggestions! In my case the right mechanism was entirely broken (not only the pins), and I had to reconstruct it with composite paste. So a bit harder, but it finally worked! Thanks again.

Thank for all of these videos. So useful. My cameleon won't unfold. I've checked the central mechanism and nothing is broken. When I replace the plastic and the mental bits and test it with the side button like you recommend, nothing moves. Where could the problem be? Any advice would be most appreciated.
Our chameleon3 chassis disc broke as we have 5 stairs to pull the stroller and baby up! What strollers can you recommend for stairs?

the part in the middle is broken on my stroller. the parts you are replacing in this video are intact .
two small plasticpieces are broken som the seat is really tricky to click onto the chassie.

Hello, great video and probably saved us close to $300 when Bugaboo customer service told us to replace the entire chassis. Question for you: do you know where we could buy the metal stopper? We damaged it when we removed it and it might be easier/better just to replace that and the metal ring. Where did you buy? Thanks!

Unfortunately the lightening in the video is not obptimal and could be improved so that we can see details. And sometimes the audio gets very far and incomprehensible. But this is a great start and you could reach ifixit.com!

Barnevognverksted Thanks again. Just to share my technical experience: I was astonished how hard it was to take off the exterior metal cover piece, it took me some 30 minutes hard trying. The second ring I hesitate to remove, as I am pretty sure that I will need to brake it. Moreover, to put the external cover piece back was even more difficult because the teeth were much to tight and it was impossible to put it back smoothly, even when I bent them outwards (but impossible when flattened, as you recommend). So in other words the joint was still not open and I still don’t know what piece is broke and hampers the folding.

it is not easy,carefully pry with flathead screwdriver til you get it:)

No, it is not. It is the same as the Buffalo (for the most part). Just search Donkey and Buffalo videos on our channel. :)
Hi, thanks for the video! I cannot close my old bugaboo trolley and I opened it, my problem is that the 2 metal parts inside are broken. I live in switzerland and they want more than 100 dollars to fix it, So I would like to do it myself because I don't have this money. Is it possible to weld this metal parts or to buy them separately and not very expensive? Thanks a lot :-)
Chris Cédric Recordon hello chris! i have the same problem living in switzerland with a cameleon3. customer service from bugaboo is really disappointing. the product is so expensive and my warranty just expired by a month. did you find a solution? i have not found a single dealer that is willing to repair a bugaboo that has not been bought at their place (even for money). they only want me to buy a new chassis for 450 euro..
Michael Steinski Hello Michael, I was able to solve my problem by ordering the metal parts from ebay (it came from UK and costed around 40fr in total), so I opened it as the video shows and changed it myself! Where can I buy spare parts to the mechanism? In my case, one of the metal pieces is broken.
The best would be to contact local retailers and see if they have any defect strollers or spare parts, baring that, check the used markets like ebay or contact a 3d printer business that works with metal. If you live in Norway, we'd be happy to sell you the part, but we've generally found that currency exchange rates, high taxes and shipping costs make shipping abroad prohibitively costly.
