Its bs. I drive for uber and lyft mostly friday and saturday nights. If someone pukes on a friday night in my car, I will likely have to wait till monday if I'm lucky to get it cleaned and that's a very bad option in the hot summer. I do have puke bags in my car, but that's not a guarantee they will puke in the bags. A good detailing shop will cost more than $150.00.

Still doing it. Happened to me today. Guy submitted a 3 year old vomit picture to uber. I found it on google and twitter in 30 seconds. Submitted proof and got a refund.

Well, that's what you get when you dont provide any other way for those companies to ensure that "vomit fraud" doesnt happen...A lot of unsuspecting victims got charged for hundreds of dollars for vomit fraud, even people that didnt take a ride with the specific cab driver
I dislike the policy of providing a receipt. I look at the $150 as compensation for lost wages, and I prefer to clean my car myself. If you want it done right you have to do it yourself! If I get a puker at 1:30 am Saturday morning I am missing out on my most profitable hour or two. Especially working in a large college town. If I get the $150 based on time stamped photos not a receipt, then I go home clean my car thoroughly, and I am ready to work Saturday night. I would be ok with being required to provide time stamped photos of the car after cleaning to be able to go back online.

I like the bar crowd and seek them out for reasons only other drivers like myself know about $$$. When puke occurs I take a pic of person who did it and the mess. Submit both to Uber and get paid. I go home right away, boil water add soap and pour it on puke. Suck it up with shop vac and do it again adding a little scrub brush action. Suck it up and do it again with clean rinse water. Spot comes out looking and smelling like new.
Not if u got leather seats with pin holes in it for blowing out A/C. Then your actually rinsing it in, car smells like puke and a year later after I spent the $150 cleaning fee my car still smells like puke. Never had a pukers, don't pick up drunks, cancel rides if people look cooked. 15,000 rides.....never puked on. TG

You brought up your best point on having a mess in your car on a Friday and not being able to do anything about it until a Monday. Where there is a potential for significant loss of revenue because you either want to have the job done by someone else that is a professional or 2, you don't want to have to deal with cleaning up the mess yourself.
My suggestion is that Uber and Lift drivers who are serious in their jobs start searching for businesses who can cater to them on weekends and that they find businesses open to servicing them during the weekend. What do you think? Is this more of a driver responsibility issue? Or should Uber and Lift be more generous with their policies?

Probably the rider claimed it was a service animal when it isn't. Total crap (literally)!
munchkym no dog just pops next to its owner. Did you ever had dog? Pretty sure the dog ass was dirty and left a mark on the seat, driver could just wipe a cleaning paper on it, and go for the next ride, but instead went greedy on the cleaning fee.. And this is way the rules better change.
How does someone defend themselves when accused of puking in a vehicle? Does the driver call you on it as it happens? What if is not discovered until the next day?
The driver usually submits immediately. If it's not discovered until the next day and the driver can't determine who did it, they might be SOL.
People puking in my car, is the major reason why I don't drive much after Sundown. If someone pukes on my leather seats, then we have issues much bigger than $150! I'm usually out early (0515 today), and tend to shut Uber down with the Sunset. If I want to keep driving, I just open up food delivery for a bit.
Whoever pukes in the car should have to pay the cleaning fee. They know they puked. Should be automatically charged to their account.

Only had a puker once (over a year ago when I first started), and what made it terrible was that after accepting that request, I had planned to call it a night after the trip. It just so happened that was the one where the passenger threw up; and it wasn't even a long trip, probably 5-6 minutes tops. Then after the incident, it was a 35-minute trip home, another 30 minutes to file the report (take pictures, etc), then another 30 minutes to clean up a little so that the puke didn't dry in my car (I have fabric seats). Uber gave me the full $150. Lesson learned. I bought puke bags not to long afterwards, and they came in handy when I picked up a group of drunk college kids. LOL.

I have the puke bags and had to use them twice but if anybody ever puked in my car and I had it cleaned up myself so I would not lose any money on driving I would still go to a professional cleaning service to have it done properly
Someone vomited outside the door of my car once and she got some on the inside of the door frame so it was my first time collecting a fee from Uber. I got $60 which was enough to cover the cost and next time I’m going to be sure to have a receipt for them.
Since they advised me of the new cleaning fee policy, I no longer drive past midnight.

Well, duh....Uber lost $5 Billion dollars last quarter. I guess they are hurting for money. Let’s see.... 5 Billion divided by the $130 dollars they will save comes out - they can make up the 5 Billion by cheating drivers out of only 38,461,000 instances of puking or pooping. So if they have 2 Million drivers in the US, each driver will have to contribute 19 puke/poop instances to Uber’s bottom line.
AuAg Finder Incompetent executives and management are going to bring Uber to an unfortunate end in ridesharing. I see them discontinuing ridesharing services within 18 months. They will transition into delivery services and other types of service, they will either drastically change their current business model in ridesharing or eliminate it altogether. If not, it is over for them in ridesharing.
sgnjr3 - you could be right but I think it will last longer than that. I think the biggest dangers to Uber are the regulators that seem to be after them. State governments in California, New Jersey and other democrat controlled states will not allow this non-union, free market model to exist. If drivers jump on board with regulators, then Uber execs may just say, “OK, drivers, if you can do better, have at it. I’m out.”

As someone who was the victim of vomit fraud this week, I can say it is really terrible to be charged $80 for something you didn't do. This could all be avoided if drivers simply took logged photos (in the app) between pick-ups.

Uber/Lyft should require a dash cam and if somebody pukes, you just submitted video footage of them puking in your car. It's more difficult to dispute video evidence.
It should only require a dashcam if Uber/Lyft purchases them for drivers.
I am glad I quit Uber and Lyft to protect my vehicle assets.

Are you guys really happy driving Uber for $3 trip no tip and clean up car and like head down for professional service. It said your own boss, it is not your won slave for reporting from Uber rider, not to deactivate your account. Different people has different mood, even those you polite; they will interpret wrong way so, they gonna give you 0 star and report you. Like when you do the best for a job, the result you got is a bullshit complain. I like to hear from you, guys.
