it’s obvious that your spiders appreciate the love care and patience you give them and they show it by their generally calm and relaxed demeanor and their overall health and wellness, like you always say “be kind be gentle and love your spiders” words a spider keeper should live by
Lol. Dave's funny. I thought that was all of them when he found the three behind the tube. Then I was certain it was all of them when he found the big one but then "oh, there's two of them."
Luv it 💓 unreal these videos Can't believe I disliked spiders so much before I found this channel 👏👍🏻 Who needs David Attenborough & the bbc when ye got oor Dave here!!
I love how you have the patience to show pokies in such a good light! If you’re calm and respectful they really don’t want to bite...even when we are unbugging them 🥰
You are so amazing and calm it makes me feel like ... Go for those old worlds! Lol. So I order 3 and They come Wednesday lol. P regalis are such gorgeous spiders. I started my old worlds with 3 baboon sp. but Id love one of these once im more "arboreally" trained. 🖤
I feel so famous! Like I won a competition to be in a live audience of a show. I should have started cheering when you said your tagline. Whey Dave’s Little Beasties! Go ‘ed there lad!
You made that look easy. Nice job. I'd say that experience played a role. I started watching your videos a few months ago and now your site is the only one I watch. The others don't seem quite as professional.
Hi Dave, wow that was so interesting I was expecting lots of bolting and threat postures and you didn't have 1. They were all calm and compliant to your gentle positioning. Thankyou for sharing 😁👍

So calm and easy to handle ^^ wow. But I know it differently. I have experienced some adrenaline showers with the Poecilotheria in the past. Were they anesthetized with nitrogen or in the fridge before? :D Very interesting thank you.
Fantastic videos! I have a question for you...I plan to get my first t soon, likely a gbb...how crazy would I be to try a realistic or metallica? I'm used to centipedes but they can't climb glass. I'm loving those 2 species though. Your thoughts? Thank you!!!
The regalis are probably the calmest of the pokies and a good choice , the GBB is another very good choice as its more terrestrial so making it a little easier to deal with 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties good to know, I'll move forward with the GBB but look to add a regalis soon down the road, with a metallica a little further on. Thank you very much for the advice!
Question: can tarantulas live in the same enclosure? Based on most of your videos they seem to be solitary creatures, one spider per tank. Is there no danger that they will kill and eat eachother? (Aside from females trying to eat their "husband's")
Yes M.balfouri are the only spiders kept together with any long term success , some like the P.regalis can be kept together until they start to mature and then the largest females will eat the others given a chance, there are ways to prolong the time but it always comes with risks and is maybe morally wrong 👍
These can be kept in anything as long as it has good ventilation and its arboreal , the main thing about enclosures is what we find appealing to look at , I always look to see what is the easiest to maintain and work with.
Hi Dave aren't you able to tell the sexes by looking under the abdomen of the spider? Or is this not an accurate way to tell? I posted a ventral shot of mine on a facebook tarantula page and was told mine was 100% a male. Just wondered if there's still hope that I have a female haha
I know it's a year-old comment and you likely know this by now, but just don't 100% trust ventral sexing. The most you can say is "suspect male" through ventral sexing. Molts are the best way to be 100% sure. I have been keeping inverts for over 20 years and I have been wrong with ventral sexing, fairly recently too. A couple years ago I was pretty sure one of my Davus pentaloris (Guatemalan Tiger Rump Tarantulas) was male until I checked a molt. I was surprised to confirm that she is female (YAYY!) I'm currently raising up a couple D. pentaloris juvies in hopes of getting a male to pair with her in the future. Also, often on Facebook pages/reddit etc. there are often folks with very little experience throwing in their guesses so it's really not the best way to check. I have noticed that often on sexing threads people get conflicting answers. Like, 2 people say "looks male" but a third says "100% female." You're better off just waiting for a molt.

I love your videos...awesome... But I can't hear you!!!
until what age/size can they be kept communally?
As soon as the females start maturing they want to set up territories and thats where the problems begin
I put springtails in with just my regalis , now every tank has them
Yes they do seem to get around I dont use them but have them everywhere 😂😂😂
11:35: Was that the mom?
She was so smart and big...🥰
These are all siblings
Oh, OK. 😄👍
Are those containers from like cheese balls or cookie etc containers? I use them as well
I buy them yes 👍

So side and lid holes
No water bowls??
They will all have water bowls attached to the bark once they get them home 👍
How do you tell which are males and females?
Its pretty easy on most and we check moults on the others 👍
The Exo-Terra 8x8x12, Would you say is a good size enclosure for an adult P. regalis and/or P. metallica?
I use them for maintenance enclosures and the 30x30x45 for breeding 👍
What is a good OW beginner spider?
It all depends on how you behave around your spiders your the key to what you should try next 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties A rabbit maybe…? 🤣🤣🤣
@@mellyg8761 😂😂😂😂
Are all pokies communal?
NONE are communal in the real sense of the word , once they mature they will predate on each other and set up territories 👍

Exotic lairs videos are kind of head wrecking. I'm sure he knows what he's doing but he's so haphazard in his videos it's annoying.
