Legend has it they're still waiting for the good news.
darkaquatus That's the way the news goes
the good news is the show was not canceled
There is no good news when a shity band performs.
@@geomusicmove go spit your hate elsewhere or just don't watch periphery's video if you don't like them
@@theguy4361 Calling a spade a spade is not hate it's objectivity, and objectivelly speaking Periphery is not that good. And I came across this video and commented, so you'd like to censor opinions you don't like, that's a little fascist uh?
It’s so satisfying to hear a crowd clapping at the right tempo. It’s embarrassing how rare that is.
It’s a djent crowd
@@lethalslaughterband5498 lmao
@@chadmichael_ *claps in 15/8*
I pretty much assume every time a crowd starts clapping it's gonna be off. It's truly rare when it works out.
They're just one member away of becoming Periphery As Leaders
It really is that simple. They'd be sacrificing radio play for more respect from the metal community. It's not that Spencers vocals are bad, they're great. But the inclusion of vocals in this dense of music really takes the focus away from the instrumental proficiency and atmospheric textures.
I love Spencer's vocals. That was me just making a joke because Nolly doesn't tour with them anymore. I agree with your last sentence to some extent, but I feel the metal community should take their heads out of their asses and respect what each musician enjoys doing. Everybody has the right to their personal tastes, but there's no need to bash someone just because they make smething you don't like. P.S.: I'm not saying that you are one of those people, this was just a general comment :)
A zueira não pode parar!
Animals as Leaders is so damn different tho... can't compare the 2 but i love them both in their own way :)
João Ferreira nolly doesnt tour with them anymore? Why?
This video/set is a gem for Periphery fans. I cant stop smiling. THIS IS EPIC.
I agree. all I could do is smile as a reaction to this performance. unreal. Love these guys
true
I saw them just a few days before this and they were perfect...but it's so much fun to see all of the imperfections here and how they turned a big mishap into something so spectacular.
Unabashed Melancholy ...Ive never heard of them till i seen this video.
i assume they have a singer and bassist?..
Either way I enjoyed this gig
They got vocal and bassist. Vocal was sick that night and Bassist did not join this tour.
"I want you guys to sing every single lyric!"
Audience:
"AAARHA RAAA RAHHHRRA RAHH RAHH WAA RA WAAA AAAAAHHHHH!"

Boyd Ang pei Sheng not very hard
I could dig it wirhout him easily
HAHAHAHA! awesome
That's what I thought the good news was.

17:22 the good news
Nice😁
Its actually great news
"There is no click in Matt's ears, I don't know how to fix it; I play guitar."
XD
XD
Right, how do you not know your own rigg?
@@MrDazed That's why sound techs exist. More likely, it would take less time for a tech to diagnose and resolve the issue.
such an epic fail haha
I don’t think Matt could’ve fixed it from where he is, even if he knew how. They all have wireless packs but the transmitters could be anywhere in the venue.
1:55 "the good news is that there gonna play 4 hours, every album included back to back including the b sides"
OMG...I was at that show...I'm the clown shouting "What's the good news?!?!?!" because Jake forgot to tell us. lol First time seeing Periphery. First time Periphery played in Hong Kong. All I can say is that Periphery that night pulled out all the stops. Completely fucking amazing and magical performance and a testament to their true professionalism - turning complete disaster with their singer being too sick to perform into one of the very best evenings of live rock music I have seen in a long, long time. And I been concert going for nearly 4 decades....
The Hong Kong crowd was ecstatic the entire time. Truly an epic performance and you could feel the totally sincere energy that night - the crowd went insane and the guys absolutely were feeling it.
But the very best part of all was how incredibly gracious all the guys were AFTER the show while the road crew was breaking down. The entire band literally stuck around for nearly an hour signing autographs, taking pictures and basically just chilling with everyone after the gig. UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE how humble and down to earth everyone in Periphery is.
Of special note was Mark Holcomb who is not only a monumentally great player but also a fantastically articulate, genuinely nice human being. Although as I said, everyone in Periphery just are pure top notch class human beings.
Periphery...you saw how much Hong Kong loves you - this NYC native is amazed at that already. But no question you guys need to come back to HK ASAP...and in an even bigger venue. P L E A S E!! Direct flights from Washington to Hong Kong daily :D
When you do, the dim sum is on me. SERIOUSLY....
cheers and thanks so much for this...yes, grabbing it for permanent archiving as we speak...
Joe Satchton annoying douche 🖕🖕🖕😂
haha! I was that night for sure, at least early on :) I know - you're just jealous ;) :P :D cheers man
man, i was there too. Your ask "what's the good news??" was epic!!
He didnt forget to tell anything. The bad news is: some of them were sick, and wouldn't play/sing. The good news is: the remaining would still play.
That’s awesome..... I really wanna like these guys, but the vocals throw me off. If they did an instrumental tour, I’d definitely go.
Jake: What should I wear for the gig tonight?
Matt: Say no more.
Gabriel Lum LMAOOOOO.
Hahaha, deeeeeep V...
this comment is gold
I love u
may anyone explain to me?
Very cool of the band to do this. You could tell they were all tired and miserable but still tried to give an energetic show for the fans. Very cool.
Never got used to the vocals of this band but holy shit! That's some killer playing!!!
EDIT: Screw it I started appreciating the vocals, this band got me completely hooked :)!!!
That’s how they get ya 😎
It gave me the biggest chills when the crowd started singing the lyrics. Must be so humbling
Jake sounds like an elementary school teacher when he shushes the crowd
I was just thinking that lol. probably because he's too tired and so all of the other members.

I love Spencer's vocals, but this setup allows so much of the intricacies of the guitar parts to emerge in all their glory. Great crowd too.
It's so cool to see Jake in a front-man role
39:55 I've never seen Jake have so much fun on stage haha
Terry Crews what is terry crews doing in these comments? Why aren't you eternally bathing in old spice?
terry crews in da house!!! headbang!!!!!
Terry Crews Hey Terry, i thought you like songs like "A thousand miles" ^__^ What are you doing here?
This is awesome. I adore Spencer's vox, but this is just a different kind of cool.
Starting at 15:06 one of my favourite solos of all time. The feels, the tone and the playing.
Absolute lack of misery in this show! :D
A smile ripped open in my face. Well done.
Vitaly Ganya The lack of misery is killing me slowly dude...
This isn't your average misery.... this is.... A D V A N C E D misery
my friend of misery? oh wait wrong band
They measured the price of miseray at this show
this is hands down one of best shows i've EVER seen AND they were short Spence and Nolly?! All hail Periphery!!! I was sitting in front of my laptop singing every word. Stellar performance guys!
I don't even like periphery.
But I do now.
I didn't even knew who they were until a few mins ago
K r e e How dare you
You mean "didn't"*
@faku faku
lol u stupid
Stop asking me to change my name, UA-cam don't and didn't two different words meaning different things
Seriously guys, as a touring musician.... this has to be one of the most amazing things I have ever seen a band do! Just put all the bullshit aside and give the fans everything in your ability. I was a huge periphery fan before seeing this video, but now I am unbelievably proud to not only be a periphery fan... but every single one of you are now by far my favorite musicians and what i strive to become. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Mark. Thank you Misha. Thank you Jake. Thank you Matt (good name). Thank you Nolly. And last but certainly not least, thank you Spencer.
1:45 Random guy in the background: "What's the good news?! What the fuck??.... The good news is that they're playing for 4 hours. They're playing every album.... IN ORDER" 😂😂
Clear EP AND B sides 😂
front to back
This really shows how dedicated periphery fans are. We are one!
talk about being professional and
having a good time despite problems...respect.
Shoutout to the person checking their snapchat stories 1:06:55
Rob Norman lmao fr
HAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The most unappealing thing about US shows is when people take out their phones to record. PUT IT AWAY, ENJOY THE MUSIC. WHO GIVES A FUCK IF YOU WONT BE ABLE TO PLAY THE SHOW AGAIN? WHO CARES IF YOUR FRIENDS DONT KNOW HOW MUCH FUN YOURE HAVING? NOT EVERYTHING IN LIFE NEEDS TO BE RECORDED OR ARCHIVED.
@@youtuberobbedmeofmyname this was in "SE ASIA" as the title says. so, nice try
Honestly kind of serendipitous that they had to go full instrumental: the crowd singing for them was epic!
This is by far my favorite Periphery video on YT. I was at an all instrumental Periphery set in Minneapolis at the Summer Slaughter Tour in 2013. It was awesome.
This video is paradise.
Just a side note (but an important one) to all you music fans. Get known and support your local music scenes. Hidden Agenda (the venue of this video) has been "famously" pushed around by "the authority". Some people are really struggling to get "dreams" going. Just, learn more and do what you can to support. ☮🤘
one drummer, 3 guitarists ...
interesting lineup
That's what I love about periphery they care so much about their fans. They refuse to cancel any show and give it their best no matter what \m/
I think i never seen a stage floor so clean like this, holy molly!
Holy Nolly* fixed it for ya 😂
38:17 Killer timing on the stage dive.
Jake rocking that beard like his uncle
Uncle John
but...but what was the good news?
That Spencer couldn't sing. xD
just kidding
Mal colm that's the waaaaaay the news goes!
good news is the show isn't cancelled
Hahahaha, I laughed so much at those guys reacting in the crowd!
The good news was probably that for one night, everyone in that crowd got to officially be a vocalist for Periphery, and that the band was playing with them instead of for them. I find it pretty cool, I think more bands should do special "crowd" shows without a mic for the vocalist, letting the crowd sing.
Amazing how solid and real of a fan base Periphery has. This is amazing and shows how music can bring people together.
Oh geez! Remain Indoors got one of the most intoxicating riffs ever, I can hear it all day. Such a great band.
That was an awesome set! Defiantly great musicians.
39:44 just cant help but tap your beer at a periphery show yo
hahaha shit i was at that gig and that guy was in front of me tapping it during most of the show
@@dylanh3620 Tap, tap, taparooooo.
I actually do that often lol
He was on point too... 100% a drummer
22:19 "I love you." Jake Bowen
23:40 almost dropped a tear what a moment
Jake rose to the occasion, as did the rest of the band, and they made something special out of what could have been just a cancelled show. THIS is what separates the pros from the rest.
The more I get into Periphery the more I love this video!
The crowd is so alive and cool!
more like haunted shores feat jake bowen
I bet that this show for them was one of the best shows they've ever played because they had the luxury to hear all of the fans taking Spencer's spot and hearing them scream every single one of their lyrics back to them must of been so overwhelming and exhilarating!!!
That sing along in marigold is so--- cool. Those audience are trying their best to fill those empty vocal lines. And i guess it worked so well
Veil of Maya did this in denver on the Sumerian 10 year tour. Singer was sick as balls. It was awesome honestly. The crowd killed it. Lucas was so inspired by that that he came out from backstage and stage dove in the middle of the first song haha
It helps to have talented musicians when your singer is down and out. Especially when most of your fans are musicians and music nerds themselves.
Imagine a Periphery Accapella show...... Spencer Sings, Matt Beatboxes, etc. haha
oh my god i would pay very large sums of money to hear misha do an accapella of blood eagle
@@jacquestp4361 it’s a thing now kinda
Pentaripherix
This is one of the most fun looking shows I've ever seen!
Glad you enjoy.
I love these young fans...and the musicians enthusiasm of course.
I never seen anything more epic from the crowd in my life. This is so awersome!
We had an instrumental show in New Zealand on the PII tour. Managed to pull out 3 songs before he had to stop ❤️ Still such an amazing show 🤘🏻
I remember this tour, when they came to the US (luckily Spencer was there for my show). For some reason when they opened with Scarlett I was just instantly taken to another dimension, and I got the same feeling here when they started playing. Chills man, there is no other band quite like Periphery out there.
Stranger things by it self makes me wanna buy an 8 string guitar..
you can play it with a 7 string, just tune down to hit their bottom note and play just the same positions. you just wont be able to do the full chord at the very end of song with ur top string (as it's not there)
Hell below,tho...
No joke, I think Stranger Things is one of the greatest songs ever made on 8 string guitars. It's just so goddamn well written and each section hits you exactly the right way. It's truly one of those songs that gives me a feeling no other song does and I feel lucky that I get to hear it whenever I want to in my lifetime.
This is fucking awesome.
I've always gotten upset when bands cancel shows. (except for tragedy)
Whole new respect for these guys delivering.
37:42 that pinch harmonic is sex.
I know you comment this 5 years ago but thank you. I’ve been spamming this time stamp
@@tiibox4087me too dude 😂
Now THIS is a way to treat fans - still playing despite illness and lack of vocalist and pulling off a ripper of a performance and bringing a whole crowd with you. Bravo to Jake for selling it.
Jeeeez. that dude shoving what I presume is his bands album in marks face. Maximum disrespect as he's trying to perform to his best ability for them..
Gotta respect the hustle but his timing was pretty bad..
haha agreed.
mrak is just a fucking good dude. if misha's the brains, mrak is the soul
also fuck the guy with the cd, after watching idk if hes a real fan lol
daemon sand yeah lol he just looks totally uninterested and doesn't know any of the lyrics
Holy shit if I were here i'd be sure to Have a Blast
If they would play Have a Blast tho.... i'd go fucking maniac if i hear that song when i'm going to see them!
I usually remain indoors but I would have left the house for this although the bad thing is the price is wrong on the tickets. An over priced gig is odd for periphery but i have seen stranger things from them. for instance when i saw them last year, there was only four lights in the whole venue and they were all the same shade of scarlet red however the event overall was stunning even if only 22 faces showed up to the gig.
But that's just the way the news goes i guess
@@LP-ve7jgI went to that gig too but I thought everything was fine! Only thing wrong with that concert was that, of course, Spencer was sick again, but I guess that’s just how the news goes. It was all okay though, the guys quickly found a new groove. Concert was so good I thought I was going to catch fire. Wildfire. I had a blast!
This was a really honest set :3
God bless this crowd!
Dude in the audience all "WHAT'S THE GOOD NEWS?"
UMMMMMMMMMMMMM... GEE I DUNNO, BAND STILL PLAYS MAYBE? :P
It's not really a "haunted shores cover" if the members of haunted shores are playing the song lol
Blueskythinking insert [think].jpg
Car Bomb fan. Nice!!
monuments as well i assume...? :D
Passenger and Scarlet are both actually haunted shores covers confirmed
Droid96 don't know if you're being serious or not. But they're not covers mark and misha are in both bands. Those songs weren't official haunted shores releases they literally just uploaded them to soundclick, they sounded like demos. Those two songs are officially under periphery
they're just such a talented band. Its great to see this type of musicianship still going on in 2017. definitely a treat for anyone to see these guys.
This makes me appreciate Spencer more, he really makes the Periphery experience something else
This is pure gem. Love the crowd singing! That's the thing that made me cry here :( :D
Djentlemen, this is pure epicness
How I wish I could be there to sing with them
As someone who plays guitar, this video brings me so much joy. I love them with Spencer, he is a beast of a singer and he is great for Periphery, but having accidental instrumental set? It is every geeks wet dream.
Awesome. My son just got the PRS Mark Holcomb signature guitar.
Definitely some of the most in time clapping I've seen from an audience at the start of Luck as a Constant. They're all Periphery fans though so i guess it makes sense.
this band changed my life!
Im sitting at work listening to this entire live show and I feel so lucky.
Goddamn this is one of the most beautiful things I've seen. Brought a tear to my eye
On a side note, Jake's beard is glorious
This is what I imagined their shows would be like in 08 and 09. Gave me absolute chills, it's been an honor to watch yall form and blossom.
man this make me want an instrumental of each album so much more now.
sawtoothscream 1 bro tell me about it without vocals it sounds so clean
sawtoothscream 1 If you want the instrumentals, support the band and buy the producer packs and make your own instrumentals.
sawtoothscream 1 Didn't even know you could do that. I'll keep that in mind
Conor Burridge. never saw a "producer pack" at sam goody or best buy.
kodiak wild that my friend is because they are sold online, on their record label website if I remember correctly.
"Most of our songs are about Final Fantasy" 😂
Literalmente?

Spooky Stork Running Wild 49:10 ish
Why is there so much hate towards Spencer? He's a phenomenal vocalist and he's come along way since P1. So many people shit on great vocalists just because they don't sing in a fucking baritone register. Geddy Lee, Spencer Sotello, James Labrie....the list goes on.
Man I'm glad I don't have the same tastes as a lot of people do. I'm glad I can appreciate a great vocalist when I hear one instead of bitching that "He's bad" when it's obvious he isn't bad. I understand everyone has their preferences but jesus christ. Spencer isn't going anymore boys and girls. So either suck it up or move on.
Lurch Murphy It's a weird feeling, I love Sponce's voice but for example when you listen to Juggernaut instrumentals it becames a whole new level, you listen to everything and every tiny detail makes every listen great.
I do that anyways though. I'm not big into instrumental bands truthfully (even though I'm a musician myself). I probably wouldn't be a fan of Periphery if they went strictly instrumental. I like the balance of great vocals and superb musicianship.
A lot of narrow-minded metal elitists hate of Spencer for his range and pop-oriented mind. A lot of Periphery fans wish for instrumental albums because they feel the music gets washed out behind Spencer's vocals, such as myself, and would rather a version with that (excessive, in our opinion) layer removed. The elitists probably still wouldn't like Periphery, I think.
My opinion is better than everyone else's and i feel special, also i don't want to hear your shitty opinion cause it infringes on my superior opinion, so either get my opinion or don't voice it" Thanks man, you really enlightened me
lol
as a guitarist and a fan of periphery.. I was soo waiting for them to do an instrumental set just like some of their old stuff... omg i love this so much, just the music sometimes is the best.
In case of Periphery - just the music is ALWAYS the best!
at 4:37 check out misha...what a bummer for him!
Look how quickly he turned around when Jake pressed the spacebar lmfao he was ready to kill Matt for ruining everything.
no question, periphery is the greatest of all time for me personally. i hope you guys make music for eternity, it makes me feel ways i didn't know music could. love you guys
Ive never heard a ‘metal’ crowd sing along like that. Awesome.
Back in 2005, Cannibal Corpse had to do an instrumental set due to George being sick. That would have been something to see!
lmfao jake is like a teacher trying to quiet down the class
Such a great band so relaxing and heavy at the same time perfect balance
Seeing how great everyone is being about Spencer being sick here is so awesome. I love this community.
Great show!
Sad to hear that a couple of guys got really ill but I think the people in HK got a very unique and memorable gig at least :)
lol this is amazing. so stoked they still did the show and uploaded it for us.
This is crazy, I just saw them in Tampa. I would've missed Spencer, but this is still such an amazing experience
These fellas have a new fan!!!! Awesome set!!!!!
It almost made me cry, maybe a little...... This is so fucking beautiful and I'm so high
its good to see that these guys are still a band. haven't heard anything past Periphery II. i got way into underground rap music. Brings back memories
Do any catching up at all?
Man wish they would've played prayer position during this instrumental set.
This gives me chills listening to the audience sing: wish you all mic’d them up
Amazing show!!! Feels being there!! I FUCKING LOVE PERIPHERY GODDAMN IT!!!!!!!!
Damn. That's an example of making incredible lemonade out of some pretty bad lemons. #Respect And that crowd energy! Beautiful.
16:32 This is why I love this band
When Periphery played in New Zealand several years ago at a bar probably a similar size to this, Spencer blew his voice out halfway through the set and they did the rest instrumental. It was a bummer but also a super cool opportunity that most fans probably don't get to see!
