The Krait does everything well, without being overpowered in anything. So is my choice. But am glad there is a decent Alliance ship with a fighter bay for those getting started with the game (when an extra 50 million is a really big deal).
I'm an Alliance ship fan. So I'd go Crusader, it just looks so cool to me, the Krait clearly has the better stats but I do want an astetically pleasing ship to look at for those cool screen shots. I'm currently fighting with my Chieftain at the moment while I save for a Beluga for transport runs.
If they added an extra class 5 (or even a 4) to the Crusader then i would consider it but for me Krait is just so much more versatile and better for fighting Goids
Like everyone else, Krait. One thing to note: if you're using gimballed weapons (some of us aren't dogfighting gods. talking about me.) then the 2 rear large hardpoints have a very large deadzone so you have to keep all targets above the ship in the horizontal plane, which can be tricky. My solution to this is I just put Class 3 Seeker Missiles in the 2 rear large hardpoints, and MCs in the 2 medium ones as well as the forward large one. Because seekers fly upwards as soon as they leave the launcher this negates the issue with the deadzone entirely. The seekers also give the Krait a major advantage when fighting other ships that have SLFs because 2 missiles will easily OHKO any SLF besides a Taipan.
Krait, hands down, no competition. I've left a comment on a previous vid' of yours mentioning my use of a Krait, Python and FDL. I tried really hard actually to find room in fleet for the Crusader, but it's just.. the only thing it really has going for it is it's price point.
Crusader every time. Except when doing cargo runs maybe. You hear people saying "The Krait handles like a dream!". These people clearly fly Pythons or Anacondas, because it turns like a brick, marginally better handling than SHIT handling. Sure, it has firepower, so you won't need to turn so often. However it lacks the fun factor. An engineered Crusader flies like a giant Eagle, and there is some risk still involved, which is a big deal. You can flank and weave and dance around the enemy while your ship launched fighter does the same. If you want to float around slowly in an ugly UGLY metal pancake, that's fine, but a Crusader's arse is like a 70s muscle car, and it actually has character instead of just being a previous 8 polygon ship reimagined.. The interior of the Krait is interesting, I guess. It looks unfinished, like the set of a bridge in Original Series Star Trek for a ship that never was. It is very utilitarian and has boring colours. I like it, to look at, because it genuinely looks like something different, but I wouldn't want to sit in it. Very cold. I also wrote off the Crusader at first and never intended to buy it because the trade off for the fighter bay seemed too steep, but the slightly better defensive stats (compared to Alliance equivalents) with some shield boosters and guardian shield modules mean I can go at bounty hunting and combat zones for as long as I want and enjoy it. If you want an all purpose ship like an Anaconda or a Python, or a Krait, you have to make sacrifices, and the sacrifice is fun. I fully engineer my ships and the Krait IS what a lot of people who bought the Python were looking for.. But what a bore to fight in. If you want to grind credits slightly faster, go Krait. If you want to FLY, and MUST have fighter bay, go Crusader. Also I leveled up an NPC fighter pilot from harmless to expert, and his wage share is half that of an expert fighter hired right away (6% instead of 12%), so while they are useless at low levels, it seems worthwhile.
For me it's a chief/cruss/Krait mk2 decision. But -- at my secondary new account I had like 55 MCr in disposal, so crussader was my choice and I love that. I love Chief much more, but I wanted to have a NPC :-) Krait is great, but I didn't have the money yet, maybe the next ship could be MKII.
i think you need to compare the crusader with the Keelback to make it look good. If there where more SLF uses aside from pew pew, this ships would perfectly fit into a multicrew focused player/ship progression, with the crusader beeing a stepping stone towards the krait after the keelback. to bad that an NPC crew member slows down any progression significantly to consider going this way :(
if you are like me, and use your AI crew automatically like deploying hardpoints... keep him or if you just use an expert ranked one via hire&fire (fire before turning in missions/bounties/bonds/data). but if your don't want to stretch out your rank progression, you should consider that in combat an active crewman deducts 50% of the combat XP, even if he has already reached elite rank. trading and exploration rank is based on how much credits you earn in those two fields, and your crews share is deducted upfront, no matter if they active or not. if you "earn" your exploration rank via tourist missions, you may be able to neglect crew deductions.
Well, I´m out of the game for about/over 3 years for different reasons but this Mk2 Krait seems to me like the phython before it got nerfed that hard years ago... can Krait land on small outposts and does that even matter today? I might never come back to Elite Dangerous (while started playing as a little boy on the Commodore 64 in the late 1980´s and continued with Elite - Frontier on the Commodore Amiga) never the less I´m still interested in the ongoing storytelling in the universe watching youtube videos like these from kornelius or obsedian ant... Enjoy your game, commanders ;-)
Chieftain is pretty fun because of its manoeuvrability and hardpoints, but I don't see the point of its variants. They are just beefier but clumsier and have more, but smaller weapons. That is boring. I want to dance around the enemy while pew-pewing it with APArs. Krait is all sorts of versatile fun, with sufficient large hardpoints. No competition.

You forgot that the crusader has an Armor rating 65 vs 55 krait

You should compare them to the gunship
You have a point here

I’d choose Krait all day everyday
Good vid brother but you should make the comparison charts bigger!
Krait for sure, and it looks more unique.

How can they have the same shields when the krait is only 320ton hull vs 500 ton hull on the crusader.
Crusader every time. Except when doing cargo runs maybe.

GRINDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M STILL GRINDING!!!!!!!!!! FFS!!!!
Krait Video Kornelius.
I'd change the thumbnail. It shows the challenger with shipkits

How so? Should I stop using AI crew?
if you are like me, and use your AI crew automatically like deploying hardpoints... keep him

Holy fuck CMDR. I've been gimping myself because my AI crew member's backstory said she wanted to find her kidnapped son. Fuck your son crewmate.

Late reply but yeah krait can land on small outposts. good time to come back theres a lot more to do these days with the thargoid hunting
It nothing else, the Krait wins against all the Aliance ships because it doesn't look like a dog taking a crap when it lands!

Krait is easier for me to kill with my packhounds I wipe it's large hardpoints easily because how close they are together
Krait Mk2 all day every day
Never even considered a Crusader, first because of specs and second because the Crusader is a copy/paste ship.
damn i'm early
