I absolutely love Bad Dreams!!!! Jennifer Rubin did an excellent job with what she had to work with, and all the other actors did great. Bad Dreams is criminally underrated, imo. Absolutely loved it. I've probably seen it at least ten times since the double feature dvd with Visiting Hours got released. I'll have to check this out. This Richard Lynch guy reminds me of the evil guy from Poltergeist 2. His look is unsettling. Also, what a coincidence, Re-Animator actors in 2 vids in a row.
The cult twist was a really good angle in this movie, Harris was truly psychotic ! When that dude slammed his hand onto the knife it was a pretty cool practical effect for the time! I think it's funny that Jennifer Reuben played a psych patient in bad dreams and in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3
I am definitely going to give this a watch, if I can find it. It checks all my boxes: a disturbing back-story, creepy death scenes, a suavely evil villain, and of course, no one believes the main character until it's far too late. Richard Lynch plays slimy and heartless characters so well, and his looks were perfect for horror or suspense.
I always loved the film! Definitely NOES3 inspired and I didn't mind it at all. Jennifer Rubin from NOES3, Bad Dreams, The Crush, Screamers and Twists of Terror.

I saw this in theaters!!!! That is correct. I’ve been searching for it for awhile and finally got this double feature DVD so I could own it. I showed it to my wife and she absolutely loved it. Great review my friend.. I just subscribed.
I have the same double feature on DVD but actually haven't watched "Visiting Hours" yet but I did grow up on "Bad Dreams"! Everytime I hear the song "Time has come today" I automatically think of this film! Haha

I love Richard Lynch! Doctor Wardo from Trancers 2! Interestingly, he really did catch himself on fire when he was on drugs back in the 60’s so those are where his scars came from. Great character actor. RIP
Wasn't he great? I feel like he really contributed to every movie he was in, even if the movie wasn't top-tier. Wonder if he ever got to play a sympathetic character? If I were a filmmaker I would have cast him in every project as "Kindly neighbor" or "Man walking dog" or something.

The score of Bad Dreams is by Jay Ferguson, who made the score on Nightmare on Elm Street 5. And it sounds just like Nightmare 5! I also think this is a good horror movie and I see the all the similarities with Nightmare 3 too!

Yeah, this is one of my Unsung Films that I did like as a kid. It definitely gave me NOES vibes. This and I. Madman used to be some of my favorites to watch on Cable TV.

Don't take my word on this but I think I saw Jennifer Ruben in Little Witches(1996). It's kinda a B-Level version of The Craft(1996). I'll definitely have to check out Bad Dreams(1988). Richard Lynch was a guest star on Buck Rodgers In The 25th Century. Thought I'd mention that even though it's a sci-fi tv series.

Excellent Lee. Great nostalgia here. Saw this in the theater in 88 and it definitely is a direct copy of Nightmare. Without a doubt better than any Asylum movie lol.

But,today for some reason I was watching the Cabin Fever Reboot from 2016,and at the beginning,the camera was shooting an overhead of the car of ppl driving through the woods to the cabin,and it had The Shining intro music playing. I thought that was weird. It was obviously a big to the movie. It was definitely the same music.
In late late eighties when I was a teen A Nightmare on Elm Street up to & including part three really killed a lot of lesser horror movies for me in that era so much so that I don't even know if I saw this one, I am sure I did but as a result of this review I will see if its available somewhere online and give it a go. Those first three Freddy movies were so well written & acted that they really did buck the B Movie clichés of the time.

I remember digging the trailer for this on VHS as a kid. Here in the UK, it trailed along with Elm Street 4! Having seen the movie recently, it's a solid horror time. Lee - have you seen Scanner Cop? It features some mighty Richard Lynch action. I only saw it recently via Vinegar Syndrome releasing it in full fat 4K UHD along with the sequel. Underrated fun bizual 🤟
Heh, I like to belive this movie is a loose sequel to Bride of Re-Animator where Dr. Cain has broken off from Dr. Wes and has changed his name to start afresh. And maybe this movie is a Nightmare on Elm Street 2.5 where Cynthia and Taryn are the same character with a diffenrent name. (In her case she probably was forced to change her name like Rick Calone from "Friday the 13th Part 6" Who reappears in "Wes Craven's Shocker" as the character Pastori. Tommy explains this in the Tommy Tapes from F13 the Game.)

This was an underrated movie. I remember going to the theater and seeing this movie when it came out at the theater ( as I did with every horror movie that came out before I was 14),or until I started really getting into girls. My father would always take us,as children,and we were horror fans,as I still am. The guy from Scarface was the evil Dr,and the guy from the movie "Summer School" who ironically played "Chainsaw",his real name is Dean Cameron,he was excellent in this movie,he seemed completely suicidal though,and stabbed the shit outta his hand and stabbed the shit on himself,it was the medication. Which in the end, the good Dr finds out the evil Dr was giving them some really fucked up medicine,which cause hallucinations among other things. The guy who voiced Rigger Rabbit was the Dr who gives the Dr the exposition about the medication this evil Dr is giving these poor ppl. But,great movie to review, forgot about this movie, been awhile. #TYDRUM

Vinegar Syndrome do awesome work. Just watched Too Scared to Scream. Walks a fine line between horror and thriller. Can't recommend it enough man.

speaking of bad dreams when I saw Halloween 2018 I had bad dreams after seeing the movie more like depressing dreams because the movie was not a real Halloween movie #michaelandlauriearesiblings

My Dad took me to see Bad Dreams and loved it. It was a rip off but I still dug it.

But nothing can top Robert Englund's Freddy Krueger. He made the movies work. I think even if this came before Terror on Elm Street, it wouldn't stand a chance against the latter. But I'll still watch it, curious now.

What’s happening
This was an underrated movie. I remember going to the theater and seeing this movie when it came out at the theater ( as I did with every horror movie that came out before I was 14),or until I started really getting into girls. My father would always take us,as children,and we were horror fans,as I still am. The guy from Scarface was the evil Dr,and the guy from the movie "Summer School" who ironically played "Chainsaw",his real name is Dean Cameron,he was excellent in this movie,he seemed completely suicidal though,and stabbed the shit outta his hand and stabbed the shit on himself,it was the medication. Which in the end, the good Dr finds out the evil Dr was giving them some really fucked up medicine,which cause hallucinations among other things. The guy who voiced Rigger Rabbit was the Dr who gives the Dr the exposition about the medication this evil Dr is giving these poor ppl. But,great movie to review, forgot about this movie, been awhile. #TYDRUM
