well, it is situational at best that all the enemy BBs are all grouped in one spot of the map and are pushing when they have zero visibility ahead. Usually, when they know there is a Benham ahead, they will quickly do a U turn.
Yeah people are idiots thinking smolensk is OP and whinging and whining about it constantly meanwhile there are others that dont even get mentioned that are far better. I wpuld rather be in a battle with a smolensk on the enemy team in place of a borgoune or kleber chasing me.
@@missingnola3823 "These torpedoes used an otherwise normal wet-heater engine burning a fuel such as methanol or ethanol. In addition, the absence of the inert nitrogen resulted in the emission of significantly less exhaust gas, comprising only carbon dioxide, which is significantly soluble in water, and water vapor, thus greatly reducing tell-tale bubble trails." Sadly in game, torpedo concealment is tied to the torpedo caliber.
Kevin Wood hahaha can you imagine 188 torps fitting in this little boat? The shimakaze couldn’t even carry a single full reload for its launchers in real life.
CV ignores him and most of their team chase him without shooting him so he just kites and torps. Could not have been more perfect even if you had your viewers sync drop to let you farm them. I have never seen two ships chase a dd to literally A1 broadside to full racks of torps. 10:48 .
The enemy CV was even too incompetent to kill of the Yugumo, so don't expect him to realize his team got melted on the far side of the map….mainly the Fletcher lost this game by not hunting down Flamu. I very well could have been this frustrated Musashi who killed him off. :-)
Same thing I was thinking. It was clear that was their only push and the Buffalo was struggling. He probably could have pushed north knowing that Benham's kite for torpedos. So the Benham has the choice of doing that, slowing down and getting spotted far more easily or run. Enemy team chose neither push with cruiser or spot with CV and Flamu naturally takes full advantage. Great record
Musing Days fully agree, any DD allowed to roam free unchallenged on an enemy flank is a carnage waiting to happen.. you can't afford this especially with a torp boat with a flamu in it lol.. Team support failure has a big part in this ridiculous result as most of the really high dmg games count.
Not really unless you mean enemy team. They had CV to spot Benham, didn't. They had gun boat DD to push and spot, didn't. They had radar cruiser to push and spot, didn't. They had other light ships to support all those BBs, didn't. They had all the BBs pushing on a flank and none went into the protection of the cap to go east. In other words the Benham is great in this position if you allow it to be. It is of course a fatal mistake against a player like Flamu. I know he landed a lot of torps hits but he fired a fuck ton of them so even an average player could have countered an enemy so obliging. Often ships are only OP if they are allowed to be.
Man, I took a brake from the game to be more positive about it and let WG fix all the balancig issues. Now I see Flamu Video and realize that this game is done.
I would like to see you do a video on the special commanders such as Yamamoto, Halsey, etc. I would like to see the top three ships you would play them in and what skill sets you would use per ship.
This is one of the best ships in the game. It is very situational, though. If you picked wrong flank or your team is not doing a lemming train on one side, games could be boring. However, it is very satisfying when 2 opposing flanks are hiding behind islands and your benham is spamming torps at camping ships. Usually it sends 8 torps about every 30 seconds. This is truly a ship that can hold a flank against whole team
1. That Fletcher player was (edited) making a poor choice with his target selection in the first engagement. He should have been shooting you, not your BB and he sure a shit should not have smoked there. 2. Their CV was (edited) making a poor choice to allow you to keep twirling around on that flank, torping their BBs like they were all lined up in a water barrel, unspotted and unmolested. I love recking Benham with my Fletcher. Hell, I’ve enjoyed shutting down and destroying an entire 3 x Benham division with Fletcher. I have both and Fletcher is FAR more useful to me and my teams all around.
Some comments from based on service on a ship with torpedoes. (Anti-submarine torpedoes, it was the 1970's.) 1. There is an interesting parallel with current carriers (WoWS arcade carriers, not real ones). There is no way the actual Benham could have carried 188 torpedoes. So just as WoWS carriers carry a fully functional (and fast) aircraft factory someplace in their cyber-hull, the WoWS Benham carries a torpedo factory in its much smaller cyber-hull. 2. Reload. Just no. Some of the newer Japanese destroyers were actually equipped for a fast reload for at least one set. But haul that many torpedoes on deck and load them with cranes. . . Kind of stupid to go on, but the high-pressure air compressors could not have kept up either. But the WoWS Benham does not get as much of an advantage with reload - just a proportional one because of the number of tubes.
Awesome game Flamu, I love the Benham for just that reason....Torp launcher, but it's very vulnerable to other DD's and radar since you will be the priority target any time you are spotted.
Bentham.. almost forgot it exist, was very popular at launch, then players quickly realized that not all of them are flamu caliber and gets deleted early..lol. Fragile ship, key words in this video, "in the right hands" "played correctly " can be a real beast. I don't agree that it is OP because of this 300k + dmg game though, many games have similar or higher results with all kinds of ships ... all them stars aligned every once in a while...
Scamu is clearly a very talented guy, to say the least. It is clear that he can kick some major ass. It is also clear, at least to me, if not others, that it pays to be very selective when posting these world records and boasting about them. One can only wonder how overwhelming his achievements would have been if the game had 3 CVs per side and he was dipping and dodging rocket planes 85% of the time as most of us DDs do. To the best of my memory, Scamu barely had any worries about planes throughout his WORLD RECORD SETTING video. That is a HUGE, HUGE advantage! I would be the first one to compliment him on his play-style, but maybe he should pull in his turtle head a bit and aim for some humility in the future!
The serious lack of proper game design with counter play and consequences is really what drove me away, still sad many cool ships I would love to command.
