You can see nicely that the Kremlin is a fantasy ship. Sitting that low on the water would be very bad on any sea condition other than totally calm. Basically everything after the front turrets would be completely under water and washed/splashed by the sea. Open gun mounts would not be usable as people would not be able to stand the water splashes. Compare that to the Yamato which was designed for actual sea conditions from calm to very rough.

Yep. Add in one of the Tillman designs for the USN, the 1943 version of the Lion design for the RN, a H44 for the Kriegsmarine and the A-150 for the IJN. Then maybe there would be some semblance of balance.

GK is more tanky, it has much better armor. The only thing Kremlin has going for it is better fire resistance. Kremlin has 60mm armor only in its mid section while its massive nose and aft sections are 32mm. Kurfurst has much more of its deck covered in 50mm than Kremlin has in 60mm. Also GK is much more resistant to citadels.
I just unlocked my Kremlin today and have only experienced 4 battles in her so far so maybe I'm just not familiar enough with her yet, but right off the bat her handling felt alien and like trash to me. Keep in mind I also own the Yamato, Republique, Grober Kurfurst, and Montana so I am very familiar with how the other top tier BBs handle and feel as far as acceleration, deceleration, etc. I can't quite put my finger on it yet with Kremlin but I immediately noticed how long it seems to take her to slow down and coast to a full stop from full speed. Then I began to notice that during full speed 180 turns the ship seemed to be presenting broadside for a longer time than usual at exactly the most nerve racking moments of the turn where you're giving flat broadside to any ships that were just directly in front of you. To me it feels like WG might have programmed in this extra little hang time section of what normally should be a perfectly smooth and even turning circle probably for balancing reasons. If you have a Kremlin and haven't noticed this yet pay attention the next time you're nose in and then need to execute a full speed hard rudder 180 turn to start kiting away and falling back. If you're being shot at during this turn pay attention during the most vulnerable moment of the turn where you've just turned the first 90 degrees and are presenting perfect broadside to any enemies who were directly in front of your ship prior to beginning the 180 turn. Maybe I'm imagining things, but at this most vulnerable point during the turn the ship seems to just hang there almost coasting straight for a bit instead of continuing the smooth turn just for a few added brief moments before the ship finally starts turning enough again to begin angling away from presenting broadside to the enemy. Every other ship I've played in this game so far handles exactly as you'd expect a ship to turn after pinning the rudder to one side, and that is that the ship will execute a smooth continuous half circle turn the whole time turning at the same exact rate during any given point in time during the turn. With Kremlin I swear she turns more like a U with a small flat section at the bottom rather than a smooth normal sweeping turn.. There's got to be a way to actually test this in game somehow maybe with some time lapse aerial view replay footage of the Kremlin during a full speed 180 turn, but I definitely felt like I was noticing this strange added hang time while presenting flat broadside exactly halfway through pulling a full throttle 180 turn. I'm really curious to hear if any other Kremlin captains have experienced this strange feeling I'm talking about here that the ship is somehow presenting broadside just a bit longer than it feels you do normally during 180 turns in basically any other tier 10 BB. Like I said during the opening of my comment here, I did just unlock her today and only have 4 or so games in her so far so maybe I'm just tripping here, but from the very first match I felt like something was just off somehow and abnormal about her sluggish throttle response and turning capabilities compared to Yammi, Kurfurst, really any other tier X battleship.
I installed the game yesterday after 2 years of not playing. I gotta say these new russian ships are not from this world, CV balance is absolutely fucked.
@@drakeconsumerofsoulsandche4303As a Kitakaze, a "AA DD" mind you, I can disagree. Rocket planes can spot and basically 2-3 shot me if they r accurate.
@Redstones If sail completely alone in any ship, you will get fucked. Be it from a cv or bb, sailing alone is stupid. If you wouldve stayed close to your team the carrier couldnt have done jackshit. Also you probably have been he spammed the whole time before which is why your aa was worse. And cv should still be able to deal some damage. Being completely immune to planes in most ships would be bs.
I call hidden changes: Since the last patch ive got like 80% more disabled and destroyed turrets on EVERY ship iam driving right now. Thats so massive that i literally have several times disabled turrets every fking game. Thats not normal and i hate it. Even Preventive Maintenance doesnt change it that much. I swear WG recently changed penetration values on the turretarmor or something stupid to let you get disabled turrets more often.
There is a somewhat fresh replay at Panzerknacker with Kremlin. You can see that the captain is mediocre at best and yet he stacks 406k dmg in this esence of cosmic idiocy ship.
One ranked game with the Kremlin the team managed to get 3 health buffs. I took 160k damage in total and finished the game full health. Never went below half health. This ship is insane
160k is quite a low bar, that’s well within Kremlin’s tanking potential in a normal game, let alone an Arms Race. Other battleships could probably have done that too.
EDIT: I'd just like to point out that according to Flamu's twitch clip, it takes focusing only 1.5 million potential damage to kill a 1/3 health Kremlin. Taking bets on what they'll add to the Kremlin once subs are released: Depth charges? Depth charges on launchers with 5km range? It's own sonar pings? Layered torpedo protection, of which protection-ignoring torps with only ignore the first layer of? Something else more balansed?
Perfectly balanced as all things should be. Especially with the legendary commander that auto-heals below 10% hp which means you will never be on the cusp of death because of the armor scheme making 10k volleys almost impossible. The only real threat is Conqueror and maybe Thunderer telling Kremlin's armor to stop existing. I say "maybe" Thunderer because they are both the same squishy ship but at least Conqueror 3D prints itself a new HP bar. IFHE should also improve SAP ammo, but we'll end up in a very artificial situation where you need to take a perk to counter one specific enemy that rightfully shouldn't be an issue in the first place. Like needing IFHE on the old Jutland/Daring in order to even fight other DDs.
Fun fact: The Kremlin is named Kremlin because the superstructure *is* the Kremlin in Moscow. The original ship was mediocre; however the ghosts of Lenin and Stalin buffed every single aspect of this ship to god tier.
Kremlin is a joke. Stronger AA than Monty 457mm gun x 9, insane armour( don’t even try to citadel it at range), 108 health, Bad accuracy lmao, turret speed of a cruiser, Shell speed of 800 m/s he 45% fire( conqueror is 48%), the deck is crazy. Best rudder shift
His closing comments about DDs are so true. After spamming Kremlin for about 10 matches I grew tired of the nonsense and took my Halland out and ranked out within 2 hours. DDs are harder than ever to play, I understand that, but there's definitely an influx of players who have no idea what they're doing..
Thank you this video, cemented my goal to grind it out. I got it, 10 battles later I have a 70% WR, 100k avg damage a game and just got a kraken with 241k damage lol, 5 kills with 2 more than only survived because the timer ran out. I tanked 2.4 million potential and another 160k actual damage. And still had like 30k health left at the end. I don't even have Kuznetsov. This thing is ridiculous. The one thing I have done different from the skills/upgrades, is I went with the +10% consumable length in Mod 5 for more repair. I also didn't take CE, I took BOS and would also add High Alert. I'm also going to get the Damage Con Coal skill in Slot 1 eventually after I get Kuznetsov.
@@shreygarg1224 look at the NA numbers on the vladivostok and soyuz. They have the best winrate among tech tree BBs in every player group be it the entire playerbase, the top 50%, or the top 5%. I'd say that's pretty good proof that the soviet BB line is the best BB tech tree.
youhyun nam yeah stop using WoWs numbers to back up your data. It suffers heavily from sample bias. Newer ships = less games played = average higher stats due to lack of sample size. French BB’s occupied the exact same spots a year ago. It’s better to use isolated timeframes coming from data collected from the game client. Pretty sure there’s a tutorial on the forums somewhere on how to get the mod to get access to it, granted you know how to use a bit of console commands.
Do you know what's funny? These guns probably would have had such bad barrel life that a single wows battle would degrade performance to the point where they'd need to replace the barrels lol Here me out, but irl barrel life was a big deal in gun design, and it's typically the case that guns with better initial performance have worse barrel life, but in game there's obviously no mechanic to reflect barrel wear so guns designed to have good barrel life are getting shafted here. Does anyone else think it might be interesting if all guns in game very gradually degraded in their performance the more shots they fired? But the bigger the gun, the more pronounced the effect was - and also ships with worse irl barrel life were hit more by this effect? This could be really interesting as it'd make certain ships better in the early game, and others better in the later game, and it'd overall make BB's less effective in comparison with other ships towards the end of the battle
This is not a one-off example. I am a mediocre Kremlin player and reaching 200k+ damage received and 4mil potential damage AND living is the norm for me.
As a kremlin player i lost my 2nd turret to a montana before cause he aim for the barbettes and keep aiming until he destroyed it but it did not matter cause my team is winning. To be fair the AA is easier to destroy with constant HE spam but then again no cv would attack you first cause your AA is same or better than montana. I never really care any cruisers at all. I just steamroll them anyway Lastly this ship is just a soviet yamato but better in everything. The 3mm difference from 457 and 460 just got transfered to the central deck
Ill stick with my bourgogne for ranked. The speed boosts are adding up to make it a 44 knot ship the heals work for it too. The reload buff is making it even sicker I'm getting games with 180+ main battery hits and this is a bb. As for damage flamu in the last 2 days I had a 416k game and a 407k game the rest were all mid 200s. It is the wrath of god in this mode. Kremlin has a massive weakness and thats fire damage 5 repairs and your out and then that damage really ticks up and their is nothing you can do about.
they will aded some the very first mig jet fighter that fly and do combat againt ME 262 with guided missile and tracking autocannon... somewhere in eastren front and they say it was uncovered from sekrit document just like WG did...
Yep, MiG-15. Not so much tanky, but with altitude advantage. And only effective counterplay against well executed boom and zoom is air-to-air guided missile, which there are none in WoWp.
Your issue with the Montana at 15:40. Same thing happened to me last night. Numerous decent salvos at a flat broadside Montana, and not a single citadel.
i started this game about a year ago and just kind of played one or two games a month. i just recently started playing more and found out that the tree that i have been climbing (USSR) has some of the best ships. i'm currently on the tier 8 Battleship.
I believe my tankiest game, I tanked over 5mil in a Bismark, in an uptiered X match. Was a while back; over a year. Did not do monster damage however, and was still one of the first half of the team to die, but held a flank for half the game essentially alone.
Me Slava firing at any broadside ship at any ranges = Citadels for days Me Slava firing at Kremlin, Moskva, Petro, Nevsky, Stalin at any ranges = shatters and deflected for days lol
You would think that, being as the Russian BBs are supposed to be agressive, close-ranged fighters that their shell velocity would suck and their range wouldn't be that good, maybe even give them a taste of German dispersion.... but, of course, then there would be Russian ships with actual weaknesses, and WG would never allow that.
Soviet BBs, Smolensk, Stalingrad, a big FU to players who have been grinding t10 ships for years. Stopped playing World of Warships because of this silliness. Kremlin has most hit points, best armor, best torpedo protection, best concealment. Immune to most cruisers. Ty Wargamming.
that's why i stick to tier 7 and tier 8 for more fun. Tier X right now is full of RU bias and there's no fun to play. US BB is nerfed to pathetic BB. Poor AA, slow flying bullet.... What's the point? IOWA became a joke to the non-existing Sov-SOyuz which get dismissed due to the poor production of thick steel armor from SOVIET? Give me a break...
Even at this best armored ship in the game, if you aim somewhere above the turrets you can hit the comand located in between the turrets, that's the most difficult thing to achieve in this game. When the ship is bow in against you it's the hardest to hit that part, as turrets are very good armored. On broadside semi broadside long ranges again try to aim somewhere above turrets line and you'll get awesome results with ap or he.
I came around the corner with my Alabama the other day and ran into a broadside of the Kremlin. While I eventually ended up with Davy Jones, it was an exhilarating pounding that I haven't taken since I stuck up for a pretty girl in 4th-grade schoolyard in 1969 Brooklyn. Gotta get me this ship one day.
Flamu, how do you play Kremlin post-nerf in Random? I am struggling with it. The guns have bad dispersion even at 10km, citadels are as rare as hen's teeth, and the HE spam is endless. The AA on the ship can't fight off tier 8 planes. My experiences with the efficacy of the Kremlin are 100% opposite of everything I have ever heard.
unfortunately not everyone is as battle intuitive like you Flamu, had a kremlin player in my team happily sailing the side of the map watching his team mates die in the middle because he wanted to shoot the CV (which was last seen at the starting position) so he was sailing to that direction from the side. I was so pissed, we could've held the cap if only he helped us out mid battle. my thunderer doesn't have enough armor to tank in the middle, but I basically had the same strat as you. use BBs to hold the cap, and let the little ones hunt
Imagine how short pee peee must creator of Kremlin has to insert it to the game... Typical WG "soviet machine". The best in everything important "but hey it have medicore AA, so its balanced, right?" Disgusting. Thats why that many players quit.
AA isnt medicore, it's actually better than a lot of the competition. Only the health of the aa mounts got nerfed. Paper ships are great, you don't have to consider any of the limitations of say what your ship yards could actually build or what was technically or physically possible at the time.
How short?, by watching how they ruined WOT and that wasnt enought for WG so they decided to start ruining WOWS, so it must be microscopic..., atomic size
I have come to a place of acceptance...It's the same in all of these games. WoWS, WoT, War Thunder...If you want to perform optimally against other people, and put yourself in the best position to succeed, you swallow your pride and play Soviet tanks and planes and ships. Tier for tier they are often the best. Will always be true, until a non Russian developer makes a competitor to these games. You should also pay for premium as I have read and seen quite a bit of conspiracy theory about how the games gently tilt RNG in favor of paying players over non paying ones. People who pay and play soviet weapons are the "real" players, everyone else are pinatas of varying ability to hit back.
13:20 well i stay back for 1 reason: -my only ranked capable ship is a FDG and ill get blown out of the water withing 15-30 seconds of being spotted there
I had a disconnected Kremlin at 11km broadsided.. I tickled him in 3 salvos from my Montana.. That was last ranked, but Thunderer, Republic also have a tendensy to angle 1 degree to bounce
As an aside, in terms of "how high the ship sits out of the water", the usual naval term would be "freeboard". Not that it matters, just thought you might like to know. Cheers
With the montana breaking your turret, I think it shot through the hull and into the turret "citadel". I've lost turrets in BBs to carrier dropped torpedoes. It doesn't have to be a shell penetrating the actual above deck turret, even though it makes very little sense.
Yeah, did something like that to other teams in ranked too. Ships that are OP before get even more OP with all the buffs. A Kremlin with 26 seconds reload...and everybody starts REEEEEing. You get away with stupid broadsides thanks to the armor layout. And then the shells...you fire at fully angled Stalingrads at 15 km and blap him for 10-12k damage. Just insane.
Kremlin is ridiculously OP, especially considering it never even existed. And 'the only cruisers it can't overmatch are Moskva and Stanlingrad..' Gee. It's almost as if there's some connection between these Russian ships' OP'ness (and others like Smolensk) and the nationality of Wargaming... 🙄
Most Kremlins in ranked play it as a GK, they try to push very close and almost brawl, which gets them killed. If someone plays Kremlin like Flamu does here, he will be a major pain in ass.

No wonder the Russians had no strong navy. With a ship design like that those ships would be sunk very quickly by a rough sea.

As a DD main, I didn't realize just how broken this thing is until you laid it all out in this great explanation, thank you.

Yep I take 210k damage
with GK and almost alive when the match end, sadly get slapped by Venezia’s SAP, still in the 2nd place in the scoreboard
Fun fact: The Kremlin used to have the highest damage of 15500 AP damage of any Sjip in game before it was nerfed

4 minutes into the video and not a single salvo has dealt less than 10k dmg I'm fucking livid. What is this ship.
Flamu : it doesn't actually make sense

You make it look so easy. I usually get abandoned in the Kremlin and then "here come the torps".
His closing comments about DDs are so true. After spamming Kremlin for about 10 matches I grew tired of the nonsense and took my Halland out and ranked out within 2 hours. DDs are harder than ever to play, I understand that, but there's definitely an influx of players who have no idea what they're doing..
Flamu videos in the past 2 months: we are getting close to that 100k giveaway...
I'm also going to get the Damage Con Coal skill in Slot 1 eventually after I get Kuznetsov.

youhyun nam yeah stop using WoWs numbers to back up your data.
These guns probably would have had such bad barrel life that a single wows battle would degrade performance to the point where they'd need to replace the barrels lol
Here me out, but irl barrel life was a big deal in gun design, and it's typically the case that guns with better initial performance have worse barrel life, but in game there's obviously no mechanic to reflect barrel wear so guns designed to have good barrel life are getting shafted here.
I just steamroll them anyway
Lastly this ship is just a soviet yamato but better in everything.

Waiting for Soviet Cvs. Gonna be jets with lazer guided bombs. And they balance it by making the CV AA and secondary have 20% less health.

A Kremlin going 35 kts is terrifying.
7:42 Well it makes sense if you consider the small superstructure and the fact that the Kremlin sits so low in the water...

Everytime I've played Kremlin I've ended up against a Conquerer or Thunderer which counters Kremlin quite well
Even at this best armored ship in the game, if you aim somewhere above the turrets you can hit the comand located in between the turrets, that's the most difficult thing to achieve in this game. When the ship is bow in against you it's the hardest to hit that part, as turrets are very good armored. On broadside semi broadside long ranges again try to aim somewhere above turrets line and you'll get awesome results with ap or he.
So .. the downside is ... it has to face other Kremlins?
FWIW the distance from the waterline to the deck on a boat/ship is called the "freeboard".
Imagine how short pee peee must creator of Kremlin has to insert it to the game...
Typical WG "soviet machine". The best in everything important "but hey it have medicore AA, so its balanced, right?"
Disgusting. Thats why that many players quit.
AA isnt medicore, it's actually better than a lot of the competition. Only the health of the aa mounts got nerfed. Paper ships are great, you don't have to consider any of the limitations of say what your ship yards could actually build or what was technically or physically possible at the time.
if you are playing CV, do you really want to focus all your plane on Kremlin?
@@chanlamkha5766 you'd have more chance sinking it by ramming the thing :P
13:20 well i stay back for 1 reason:
-my only ranked capable ship is a FDG and ill get blown out of the water withing 15-30 seconds of being spotted there
I had a disconnected Kremlin at 11km broadsided..
Cheers
IRL this ship would be a sub no where near enough free board to be see worthy
With the montana breaking your turret, I think it shot through the hull and into the turret "citadel". I've lost turrets in BBs to carrier dropped torpedoes. It doesn't have to be a shell penetrating the actual above deck turret, even though it makes very little sense.
0:55 In real life, that Kremlin would've capsized that destroyer. **eye twitch** My immersion is ruined.
