You told me everything I needed to hear & was brutally honest with that sternness lol…but you also let me know that I’m doing a lot of things right & with persistence, consistency and faith I will be okay. I’m a new esthetician, I’ve been in working for about 9 months & I started off with 0 clients, then 1 & the 7 & now im slowly growing new clients every week and a few a month now. It’s scary and social media can pressure you but I’m taking it one day at a time and bettering myself everyday. My business , content, and learning stays on my mind 24/7 😭😭😭

That is all it takes is dedication, effort and consistency ! You got this, take breaks when needed but keep your eye on the PRIZE!

The issue is most girls that go to beauty school of any kind are young. They are not passionate about skin care or being an esthetician they just 'want to have their own business'. In my class of 22 honestly maybe 5 of us have gone into the industry. The rest were there for the ride, to show off on social media or because they got a scholarship. Most people that go to esthetician school are simply not cut out for the line of work but are lured in by social media people telling them how much money they make. I was appalled by what I witnessed in esthi school, I wouldn't let 99% of those girls touch my face even if they were paying me.

Girlllll! I’m an Esthetician and Brow Artist and I love this video! Your honesty is REAL & true. I went through it trying to build my business and it really takes hard work, sacrifices, and some rough days but it’s up to YOU to get your business booming. Can’t be lazy and want a 7 figure business. Study study study!

Everything you said is spot on. I appreciate your brutal honesty because so many people in the industry only talk about how much they gross monthly as a solo esthi and not all the hard word, blood, sweat and tears go into it. Not to mention already being in a hole from the beginning. Love your videos Xoxox

Lia you told the truth about esthetician route, even though I'm a cosmetologist I do provide esthetics and hair services for the last 6 years. I have had numerous esthi's/ cosmo's asked me if going solo is the right approach for them, I just tell them truth look everything is not glitter and gold, please know what your signing yourself up for this isn't a way to make quick money, because you see girls with new purses and handbags etc. you using that for your motive... its not in your heart, its not the right business for you. this is a longevity or maybe a short term goal for yourself. yes theirs is nothing wrong with working for yourself and running your own business, know that clients are gonna come and go I feel like social media is a tool it can help you or hurt you regardless. what I was told in school theirs bad money and good money. " you always gonna have 50 returning customers versus that one time client".
best to all the new esthis. Thank you for shedding a light on this lia.

I listen to podcasts, watch videos, study the milady book, and read and take notes on supplemental books.. Every day because I love it. I'm making a binder to organize all my book notes by topic (so each divider tab will have several different sources covering each of the topics).. There is a reason I'm doing this.. I got plans baby!! I'm also taking steps for my business, so I'm gonna be doing some courses on that aspect as well.
I first got my diploma and license back in '02 when I was 22 (luckily I still somehow look 22 lmao), didn't always work in the industry so I was dumb and let my license expire (studying right now to renew it). Gettin back into it professionally now though I never stopped being passionate about it or learning.

I know this is an old comment, but do you have any recommendations for supplemental reading? I’m hoping to go to esthetician school next year, so I’m the mean time I’ve been researching and reading. Also ready to read more books on the topic. Hope life is well and that your career is going strong ❤

I’ve been working at a corporate med spa for over a year in a half now. I’ve been really looking into and doing a lot of research in opening my own place. I know a lot of people that have their own businesses and they tell me everyday just do it. I’m scared but I rather do it scared then be here in this toxic corporate environment. Thank you for your video !!

I needed this video ! I quit nursing school and i m taking time away from that. Srsly been considering esthetician school and yes it is so important to have passion and do research outside of the classroom and i knew that i definitely love making people feel beautiful! thank you for this video very straight to the point , no fluff.

Good luck! I’m in school right now, I’ve been in for about 4-5 months now. Honestly as long as you don’t miss many classes, study and pay attention, it’s not very hard. At least for me. Just stay on top of it, you got this.

I LOVEE how real and to the point this video is, I'm on my way to take my esthetics license test in August and have been looking for more resources as I practice. I felt called to purchase the books you mentioned in the video - I used your link!! Thank you for being so honest with your answers, it really helps me as a newer esthetician put my decisions into perspective. I am slowly growing my business and with that I am learning 24/7 how to be the best version of myself for my business and for me!! Also hello Oreo

No you said what needs to be said. I graduate in July & I’m working nonstop everyday doing my research, watching videos, listening to podcasts, etc. because I’m dedicated to this. Not for the lifestyle but, because I’ve been doing this since I graduated high school. Thankfully this field grew for me to do what I wanted to do. I’m always reading, studying, creating case studies and I work hard. Single, no kids, same age as you. So the work ethic I put into being an esthetician ? I enjoy because I know I’m passionate about it. Keep giving these tips ! I love your content. Keep inspiring other estheticians. You do amazing just being you. I definitely can’t wait to actually meet you in person and have dope conversations like these. You would make a great educator. 🤍
