Ye 100%, especially when you start off and you go through towns and see guards, flight path masters all who are much stronger than you, elite quests needing groups, retail you are a one man army
Used a lot of words to define "immersion". Vanilla WoW had it. New WoW doesn't. It abandoned world building for systems. There's a reason I used to be a hardcore MMO player but now I play sandbox survival games like Valheim. They are immersive. MMOs creep ever more into the eastern variety of gacha/p2w one-thousand systems to artificially force you to sink time into them. I have thousands of hours in Valheim and it has "lol here's a handful of bosses have fun".
I would say retail is simpler solo hack & slash. Classic everything matters, even making a character was a 2 day job because its how your char looks for the next years
Ye you have to view them as 2 different universes almost now don't you, retail is more similar to play dynasty warriors on ps2 than it is to classic wow 😆
@@TheLuminousLynx111 Yeah. Saw a documentary about carnaval in Holland last week. A teenage girl said if you slightly change traditions every year eventually you have a totally different festive. Its what happened to WoW
Ye that's definitely true when you think about it the world, the graphics, combat, races, system, talents etc it's probably harder to think of what hasn't changed and also a much shorter list
In classic wow i could just spend 3 hours fishing in a lake if i wanted to and i would not feel like i wasted my time because i could have farmed some dungeons for a bis preraid item or something like that
For the last 3 days, Friday to Sunday, I have done almost nothing but leveling up my tradeskills on 2 different characters. Just gathering materials and crafting items, none of it felt like wasted time, I ended up in a dungeon and a quest group on my paladin while running around looking for iron. Fucking magical.
Actually, the way you described everything is the reasons to play EQ2. If you agree with everything said in this video, play EQ2. Honestly, it's good. I don't currently play it but I don't play WoW right now either.
@@TheLuminousLynx111 nope its a small community. But its the kind of game where you log on to play with your group of people no matter the content. I quit because I got hardcore and then life got busy.
In classic WoW you were a small part of the huge world. In modern WoW the world is a small part of your godlike character which devalues both.
Ye 100%, especially when you start off and you go through towns and see guards, flight path masters all who are much stronger than you, elite quests needing groups, retail you are a one man army
That's one of the best summations of the appeal of classic wow I've seen.
Cheers mate, nice channel by the way 👍

That's when you know the game is for you when you walk away from it feeling like your time spent was worth it/ fun and not just a waste of time

Which server do you go for pvp or pve? It's such a relief to get the tradeskills high and not be behind on them
Indeed! I love classic wow 😊
You gone pve or pvp for the anniversary realms ?
@TheLuminousLynx111 im on a pve server!
No getting ganked for you then 😆
Me too hahaha lol
Nice Video, looking forward to TBC as well that was still kept simple it was only when wrath came it went away from all this imo
retail WoW isn't an RPG, it's not even an adventure. It's an amalgamation of mind-fucks to keep you playing. It's just 3D candy crush at this point
That tickled me that comment 😂

You know I've never played everquest, I might have to give it a go if that's the case, do many people still play it?

It does feel like with mmo it's all or nothing at times doesn't it, hard to dip your toe in and out
I agree! I still play retail from time to time but Classic is the OG MMORPG-Vibe!!!! ❤❤❤❤
I'm the same I dip into retail for a bit to try out new expansions but always find my way back on to classic era 🙂 classic plus 🤞
We find it boring.
Which version of wow is your favourite?
