- Just a little bit of this and that. Went back to the Thrifty Irishman and one other second hand shop. Didn't find much this trip but some days are like that. It's not EVERYDAY that I come home with an original Picasso. Thanks for coming along.
I'm a fan of Liberace, have several records and videos. Got to see him in Vegas one year! And was one of the fortunate ones to have been to the Museum!---Growing up in North Dakota, we lived not far from Lawrence Welk's farm, so watching the show each week was a staple in our household! One year, my Mom and I were driving back to California, and made a side trip to the Welk farm...wonderful! Finding anything Welk is tough, and pricey when I do.
I want to go to a thrift shop like THAT! It reminds me of picking in an estate sale basement, which is my favorite. Indianapolis doesn't have the thrift bounty that Philadelphia has, that's for sure.
You’re great at knowing what decade pieces are. The orange pitcher and glasses l received at wedding shower,July 1974. You should come over, we still ride horses lol. I love seeing snow, l live HOUSTON, TEXAS. I 66 years old and I’ve seen snow about 3 times it lasts about 8 hours. It makes the news here. Love your show.
Thank you!
“Maybe a pork chop?” LOL. Thanks For another fun video. Also I thought that lady figurine was so Art Deco!
Beautiful table.
I would like you to look at each and every thing.
How cool you spotted that ad featuring your tin.
Just found your channel... you are the coolest guy! Love it
Thanks for taking us along Scott! Growing up, my babysitter Gladys had that same couch...she called it a davenport😊
Yes! My mom and her family all called them davenports. I wonder if there is some "technical" differences between davenport, sofa, or couch.
@@debbieomi just looked it up & davenport looks like a brand name, like calling tissues Kleenex! Ok did she call a purse a pocketbook?!
That's interesting! Yes, she sure did call it a pocketbook. Now, my mind is searching out other words folks used back in the day. My dad always said wardrobe instead of closet.
@@debbieomi oh love this! I'm sure Scott will have a few to add to our list.
Cool tour! 😎 🍻
Texas fan 🙋🏼♀️love your channel, currently binging my way through all your videos! I’m a fellow lover of all things 1930s too 😊
Omg, 3 dollars for a nativity from Italy? Jelly!!! And obviously playing catch-up with your awesome videos ❤️🎁👑🇮🇹
Love your ride alongs; both fun and informative, too! Today I learned about batter pitchers. We 'older' folks also appreciate it when you move...very...slowly down the aisles, so we can see everything without pausing. Just found a ceramic Christmas tree at a charity shop, but this one had a cabin with chimney attached. I'm guessing it's from the 1970's or 1980's. Pyrex; who knew, LOL! TFS.
That alarm was killing me.
Thanks for the batter pitcher lesson!! Have not seen one of those before but so good to know! I love the look of the vintage toasters and waffle makers. Also, the couch was fabulous!!!🤗
Lovely mid century table and chairs Scott. Nice clean lines. Hi from Australia 💖✨🔆🐨
And....I found the 4th chair!
I should research the value of my set of Tupperware's first micro and oven safe cookware. I won it when I was a Tupperware rep back in the very early 80s. Two 1-qt and one 2-qt casseroles with lids plus plastic storage tops and it cleans up like a charm even after all these years.
LOVE that sofa and that MCM dining set. The sofa reminds me of the one my grandmother had in her dining room though hers was a dusty pink kind of color. When my sister and I were very young, we would be laid down on it to sleep while our parents and grandparents played cards on a Friday night. Haven't thought of that in YEARS!
Loved that batter pot the decoration on it reminds me of the umbrella girl that I have seen quilts of I'm very lucky my grandmother quilted and I have a few that have been hand quilted not by a machine I love them they are so warm and I have a sunbonnet sue that I have started for my daughter I need to finish but I'm doi g by hand I really enjoy your videos
Thank you!
That thrift store is amazing! I saw so many things there that I would pick up for my antique booth, and that mc table set was awesome!😍TFS!
I have been looking for the pitcher and glass set with the oranges. Something I grew up drinking my orange juice from and, of course, a memory and I want it back (even though our original one is nowhere to be found). I would have bought this from you in a heartbeat. Maybe if you find another.
My Aunt had the orange juice glasses and there was also a set that looked fairly similar that had apples.
Enjoy your videos so much. Hope you’re having a great holiday season and I would love to see a tour of your place!!!
Nice place to shop, you did good going through. I like more of the mid-century stuff (40's, 50's, 60's), and I saw some things in there I'd have grabbed. But loved the juice set as well, I have one from the 1950's that was a family piece and will never be sold. Yes, I'm convinced that Pyrex is being hoarded in homes all over America!
And i love the new slow filming you 😚
The couch matches the table. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Howdy, from Texas again! Thanks for the shout out, Scott. Pork chop? More like T-bones from Texas! The reason youngsters are buying the orange juice sets is because they remember them in the "Growing Pains" kitchen. I liked the midcentury textured vase. Even though it's not marked (a lot of mine aren't) it's midcentury. Probably from a California Pottery company.
Finally another video! Happy belated Thanksgiving and it's always good to see your videos!
Well Scott, I haven’t had any luck selling the juice decanters or the pitchers for that matter. I loved that book case though ♥️. I’ve been looking for the ceramic Christmas 🎄 trees too but no luck 😕. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Well, i must say, after finding your channel, i went thru my cupboards and dug out a few of the bakeware my grammy gave me yrs ago. Guess what!? 🤫 2 of them! 😃 Lids and all! Thanks again for sharing some of your life with us♥️
Awesome find!!!
That couch is fantastic!!!!!
I would buy the art deco lady ceramic, it was definitely a old mold piece!
A lot of great stuff.. where's the customers ?
Beautiful Thanksgiving table. Nice shopping with you.
So you heard me scream..."Look at the PINK TIMER!!!" LOL I think ppl buy their childhood, don't you? This last generation does not appreciate the Depression Glass that our grandparents and parents had. This is fun, sorry we slowed you down, though! And later on, that pink sofa...reminded me of my mom's great purchase in 1957 or so...a pink couch and chair with metallic thread that ran through it, with a suite of two blonde end tables and a coffee table. She LOVED that furniture. AND then, we had a great aunt who gifted us with a fruit cake each year. I didn't realize it was probably from Sears, but that makes sense. She was a good customer. Fun video, Scott. Keep on thrifting.
Actually that pink timer was new and made in China. 😒😒
Scott i found a vase over 100 yrs old that is the company before royal doulton ill post on instagram. Its pretty cool!! I didnt like how it looked but bought for 50.00 at an estate sale. Theyre going for over 500.00 on ebay 😲😲😲
I love this place... I could spend hours in this store.
Liked that groovy plate...
haha I am a hoarder of Pyrex, my attic is full of it. I use some of it, decorate my kitchen with some of it and the rest just sits. I started collecting before Pyrex was a "thing" because I loved the colours. I think I paid less than $4 for most pieces. I stopped collecting about 15 years ago but there are still a few red pieces I want to buy. I know nothing about selling on ebay or Etsy or I would be selling some of the stuff now. Besides all the coloured pieces I have many coffee carafes and clear cookware dating back when the pieces were made with arsenic. I even have an old Pyrex labeled vacuum coffee maker. haha I better get a guard for my house now that Pyrex has made the news!
Please tell me you got the Lawrence Welk Christmas Album. And what about the Liberace cassette! They both made me smile.
I love your pictures and videos I laughed much you are good at putting it together ,was that your house? I went out and found a receipt for green bean casserole after the last it was great never had it before.
The cat was so cute and the thrift store I would love to get that furniture an interesting store.great day.
I would have bought that kitschy pink lady figurine, LOL, it probably came as a blank and some hobbyist applied the color, I also would have gone for the manger since it was made in Italy.
Yayyy canuck here 😄
When I was a young adult, my parents would get me a Deluxe Fruitcake from the famed Collins Street Bakery in Corsicana Texas. Came in a tin just like the one described. If I could only go back in time.
If the thrift store don't open up pretty soon I'm going to scream!
haha your vlogs are getting soo camp its funny.
Oh no! They know about Pyrex!! :)
I like to look up the thrift stores you go to for when I'm in Philly. I see that this one burned to the ground in April, how unfortunate. Hopefully no one was injured.
Indeed it was very sad. I'm terrible sad to say that the resident cat was never found. Thankfully, no humans were injured and they plan to rebuild or relocate. The cat was the sweetest thing and he always greeted me at the door.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 oh that hurts my heart, poor thing
I want a "Thrifty Irishman Store" !!!!
Fun video 😁 Well, I was right about Sears but I fruitcake never entered my mind, geez. How ever did you teach your cat to play the guitar? Let me guess - you tube! 😊👍 Mines obnoxious enough as it is. Lol
Meooow!
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO ZERNS IN PA... crazy antiquimg you need a weekend there.
How old do you think that kitchen table is? Loved it, too!
That style was first popular in the mid to late 1940's.
Holy huge thrift shop with the best thing ever inside...The Kitty! I hope that beautiful kitty was not in there when that man started the fire!!😢😢
I'm sorry to say that I believe the cat was lost. I inquired about the fire when I visited another thrift shop in the area and I was told the cat hasn't been seen since the fire. Bless the his heart.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 😢😢😭😭😭😭
I guess you live up north. I live in NE. TX, our goodwills don't have the stock or good prices you'll do. Can't find a Savers around here. Just poor selection & $, even at the no name shops. At least I can enjoy watching you. Thanks !
Since you're moving slowly could you give a few more random prices? I think I would have bought the dancing girl because with those delicate arms not many survived intact. I agree the batter jug is not salable but I would have bought that also, just because. Thanks for the excursion!
Yes, slower dude. Like the table
I’m going to have to search my basement for some Pyrex!!! ☺️👍🏻
Are 1950s hits on a 45 valuable?
My mom makes a delicious fruitcake full of nuts etc... It's not wet and gummy. So good.
I just bought a cabinent like the one at the beginning on an online auction for 40.00 i have it listed for 130.00 snd no interest so far may need to slash the price a bit.
the nativity set looks 1993-ish to me, similar to what Woolworths was selling the year they closed in the Nebraska area.
1. Castel Sant'Angelo is in Rome in case anyone was wondering about the first saucer.
2. Our aunt gave us one of those 60s stone bowls.
3. That statue reminded me of an Erte piece.
4. My Gramps used to say caddywampus (sp). Lol
You need to pay the gateKeeper (meow). .
By the way that was late 1950s Fontanini from Italy the little nativity set worth about 200 bucks
That alarm 🚨 made it almost impossible to watch
Oh wasn't this fun! There were some interesting plates in the Thrifty Irishman. They were green gingham/plaid.. What do you think those are @ 5:46 on the right side of the screen?
Oh yes....golly I can't remember the maker but I'm certain I've seen them before.
Any video that shows Maggie Smith in it is alright by me. On the other hand Lawrence Welk and fruitcake gives me an uneasy feeling . I really like the manger animals from Italy or at least some of the ones from the Irish thrift shop. I would have thought that Depression glass cake plates would be a hit. Oh well.
At 5:35.. the green glasses with the square bottom on the table in front of you, do you know anything about those? I found a set of 8 today & loved them, but didn't buy because some had a strong irridescent, carnival glass look to them, some had a slight irridescent look & the rest were just plain green. I couldn't figure out why that would be, so I passed. Any idea?
Hum....no I'm not sure about the green glasses. I didn't get a very close look at them. I wish I could see a photo of the glass you found.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 I wish I could send you one! I went back the next day to grab them, but they were gone. 😭
Hey Scott
On the milk glass “egg” $3.00 is the retail price now-a-days...I think the Deco girl is an 80’s reproduction....
Where is the flashlight Scott?that beeping is annoying...lol
By the way that wasn't depression glass that was New York Fostoria
You miss a neat cookie jar.
How do u clean the records u pick up?
Simple warm water and soap!
I collect revere ware do you see much of that?
Oh yes I sure do. In fact, my mother is still using her original set. I think she's had it since the mid 1960's!
No interest in the Kings Crown “Thumbprint” with ruby flash covered candy dish. I’ve seen them going for a decent amount online and in shops.
Well that pattern seems to sell well in the plate department but I have a very hard time selling stems. There seems to be a TON of ruby Kings Crown in the north east.
Scott's Old Curiosity Shop agreed. But I find the compotes and candy dishes do better than the glasses.
I bought a house that was build in 1927
......no modern stuff for me....well..besides central heating.....please bring somethin for the cat next time
Wow fruit cake was expensive....if you figure in the inflation rate that cake would cost $69.41 today....minimum wage was .30 an hour....
the real treasure here is the return of norma zimmer :----)
Long live Norma!!!!!
Is she proposing or propositioning
Oh wow fruit cake i thought cookies
No Christmas carols yikes
Omg who complained about how fast you were going. People need to get a life.
