    How about the eponymous Scottish “White Pudding Supper”?
    A Scottish traditional white pudding deep fried in batter served with fat fries (chips) salt and a delicacy known simply as sauce which has many varying versions but in its simplest form is HP Sauce watered down with vinegar. Once eaten never forgotten and is probably the eats I miss most since I now live south of the border in England. Would love to see your take on making this especially your version of the white pudding. Loving your work and my family love the improvement in the juicing of the steaks I cook since watching you.

      Hmm white pudding, that's on my NO list Had it once in a B&B by Loch Lomond as part of a breakfast and it did not work for me. Black pudding I love. The white pudding was just, I dunno... did not deliver. Maybe if you deep fry it .....

    If you like just corn on the cob try grilling it in the husk...the moisture from the cob will steam the corn then you can add your toppings.

  • @jamesbrandon8520
    @jamesbrandon8520 3 роки тому

    Looks awesome, have you ever tried pulling back the husk removing the silk and soaking it in a brine with whatever you want in it and covering it back up with the husks? The husk will flair up some and burn some but the smoke flavor that the husk leaves is awesome and you could brush your butter on instead of brining it then when it’s about cooked you could get rid of the husk so you can get more color on the corn, I love it like that now I need to try this recipe

  • @dtpugliese318
    @dtpugliese318 3 роки тому +1

    My favorite way to grill corn is to keep it in the husk (but remove the silk) and place it over high heat for like 5 minutes per side. That will give you that charred flavor while the corn also steams in the husks. The only problem is that it’s a bit messy and you get little bits of charred husk everywhere but it adds the the flavor IMO

    • @ukgroucho
      @ukgroucho 3 роки тому

      Yeah done this and it's a bit of a faff peeling back the leaves to remove the silk (and re-tying the leaves with some silk). Also worth soaking a bit in water... they steam a bit faster.

      @@bubbahyde322 I guess you could argue there are two kinds of “healthy”:
      1) A good variety of wholesome, nutritious foods
      2)Healthy fats and low calories
      I suppose this qualifies as the former, but definitely not the latter. And that is to say nothing of eating red meat, which some more picky people may also complain about.
      My take is: EVERYTHING in moderation. I ate poutine for lunch yesterday, and I have no regrets. But I didn’t tell people it was healthy because I ate a potato. ;)

    Do up 4 to 6 combs of corn. Cut it off and refrigerate it for more of this salad on other nights. I have now done it with grilled salmon, chicken breast, and left over pork tenderloin. All were delicious! The protein doesn’t matter as much as the salad does. Lay it on a bed of romaine or baby arugula or even iceberg.

    With the steak turning thing, all I can say is this: for the longest time, I followed the adage of "only flip your steak once". I used to cook it in a pan on medium-high for 3 1/2 - 4 minutes a side for medium rare (usually came out closer to medium) and that was it. But someone taught me that to get amazing color, you cut each of those times in half. 1:45 to 2 minutes, flip. 1:45 to 2 minutes, flip again and add a half tablespoon of butter to the pan. 1:45 to 2 minutes, flip one last time and add another half tablespoon of butter. 1:45 to 2 minutes and take it off. Let it rest 8 minutes and then cut.

    Sam, I've watched a bunch of your videos and seen you advocate for avacado oil many times, mentioning, among other things, it's high smoke point.
    I do a lot of cooking in cast iron cookware, and I usually use olive oil or peanut oil, but I happened to see avocado oil last time I was in the store, and decided to give it a try.
    Preparing to cook some steak for a recipe, I got my skillet good and hot, like I usually do, poured in the avacado oil, and -- instant, dense smoke screen. Set off all the smoke alarms.
    And this at a temperature that oilive oil would have just barely begun to smoke at.
    Thought I must have done something wrong, so I tried it several more times over the next few days, always with the same result. In fact, I determined that the smoke point for avacado oil is lower than pretty much any other cooking fat I routinely use, except for plain butter.
    So what's the story? Are you BS-ing about the avacado oil, and I just haven't figured out the inside joke yet? Or are you using some specially prepared extraterrestrial super avacado oil that's just not available at my local supermarket?

      I have found that it makes the corn kernels tougher. I like soaking them with the husks on and grilling them. This time I peaked the husks off and lathered them as Sam did. I think I will roast them again with husks on and butter them when I peal them. The kernels should stay softer. But they have been great after refrigeration, heat them a bit in the microwave and place it on the salad. Three nights in a row for us. All with different proteins

    Is it just me, or are some of you guys shocked, when you watch famous chefs like Ramsey take their salads out of the box or bags... and use it straight away , without washing it...?
    I used to do the same, because... 1st: it was organic.. and 2nd: it said 'washed and ready to use'... but I eventually got tired of finding crap inside those bags... mud between the leaves...rotten roots and leaves...bits of plastic... tiny bits of shredded wood.... super small snails..or worms... and even fukin gigantic hairs, among other weird things !
    Since then, I became totally obsessed :)
    That's why today, no matter if I grow them, or buy them (organic or not), I wash everything super carefully, with a ton of water and a super powerful led light(a ton of lumens)... and I check leave after leave. Over.. and over... and over...
    I swear it takes me at least 10 to 20 minutes, to wash 1 or 2 salads 🥬🤪
    Call me crazy, if you want :)
    BTW, I'm not talking about SAM. I'm sure all his salads are just perfectly cleaned...
    ... but there are other people on the internet... wow
    I mean, how can some people blindly trust the company and the guy/machine that are supposed to perfectly wash everything....by opening those bags, grabbing those salads and cooking them... without even checking 5 seconds if there is a fukin hair, or other shit, inside their pretty&green 'romaine'...
    And I don't even want to think about all the chemicals, poisons... even chlorine ...fluoride...etc etc... they use... to wash their produces ... kill all the bugs... etc etc.
    🙏 peace !

    I've seen ya do home versions of many fast food items. I don't believe I've seen a home version of any of the Whataburger favorite burgers. Sweet and spicy bacon burger, Chicken Peppercorn ranch, A1 thick and hearty burger, etc. Would love to see it. I enjoy the channel very much. 👍

    Love what you guys are doing! I’ve been making a Chicken Avocado burrito for a few years now. I’m a bit tired of my recipe though. I’d love to see your rendition.

    This looks incredible and is definitely going on our list of upcoming meals. Since Max wants healthier meals, can I recommend Caprese Chicken and Zucchini? We made a version last week and it was delicious and (mostly) healthy. But my wife and I both wondered what your take would look like.

      @@bradpolmateer4266 We just used boneless, skinless chicken thighs. The “Caprese” just means it has tomatoes, basil and mozzarella in the dish.
