Not only are you a great teacher but you leave nothing to assumption. You explain the little details that most others gloss over. Thanks for taking the time to show this. Really appreciated.
This video is older so I dont know if you still check your comments, but I want to say... YOU ROCK and You are an excellent teacher!! You saved me money because I dont have to call a plumber. Thank you so very much!!
I am so glad I found you again and get to say thank you. I watched a video of yours years ago. You showed how simple it is to replace a compression shutoff valve. Thank you.
I wish you had been one of my teachers when I was a kid. I've been teaching math for 30 years and I have yet to find lessons as interesting and informative as yours. Keep up the GREAT work!
This is why I love this channel. I ALWAYS learn something. I have a reciprocating saw and years ago, I found one of those PVC pipe cutters lying in a parking lot. I always assumed they were for cutting hoses, which is what I use them for. I never knew those were for PVC pipe. So I’ve been cutting my PVC with the sawzall (with a hacksaw blade) and going through the mess of de-burring my cuts. LOL!
I'm a Brazilian chemical engineering student trying to build my own piping system at home and I'm really glad I found you! Your explanations were great, I'm subscribing to your channel =)
Some time ago I had a problem with my toilet seat and I found your video and it teached me how tp fix it, now I have a problem with some of tge pipes and your videos saved me again, thaaanks!!!
I had OCD problems with the fact that your vise wasn't bolted down during the hacksaw demo... but this was a great video; very detailed and informative; spot on with the title, and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much.
Hey Leah - thanks you just gave me the confidence to cut out the old waste pipe under my sink and customize my new and PROPERLY measured ABS piping and joints - awesome
Didn't even know they made a tool specifically for cutting PVC pipe fast... Always used a hacksaw so good to know! I'm already learning helpful things and haven't gotten 2 minutes in yet lol. Thank you for posting this.
I'm trying to learn how to convert an above ground pool pump and filter hose assembly to pvc like others have. How to videos I saw were great but they lacked detailed instructions for people that never made anything with pvc. Your video should be linked up to those videos.
Thanks for the excellent video, Leah! I found the explanation regarding PVC vs. CPVC very helpful. I was not aware of it and would have purchased the PVC when needing the CPVC. Thanks for that!!!!!!!
This was so incredibly helpful! Thank you for all that you do! Now I can install my water softner. You're an amazing teacher, we need more like you in our classrooms today!
Hi Leah - love your laid back easy way of explaining. I have been trying to figure out what size connector to buy for my PVC pipe. I now understand they are the same size. It is not stated and may seem simple, but if you don't know, you don't know. If you remake this video, you might think about adding that simple information. I have learned so much just watching your program and thank-you from the bottom of my heart. I now think I am superwoman LOL
Leah!! You are soooo great!!! I made a closet skeleton for a clothing rack.. lol!!! my closet in the room is kind of small for my stuff.. so I wanted to figure out a way to cover the clothing rack, cause' all the clothes out in the open looked messy. Anywho.. I sew, so I can sew a cover and after watching this video I went out got some pvc, corresponding connectors, and that pvc cutter... oh my gosh it worked!!!!! I love you. Thank you so much!!!! Big hug lady!!
monikita777 Hi Moni, that sounds fabulous! I'd like to see a picture and share it on our website, if you are so inclined. Glad everything worked out. Regards, Leah
Seejanedrill / Leah, Wow!!! Your presentation is awesome, very clear, thorough everything we need to know on how exactly to put a pvc together. The best part for me was the motivation “You can do this” thank you so much🥰❤️👍👍👍👍👍
Wow she is so easy to understand. I am trying to repair broken sprinkler system and the tiny hacksaw they sold me was terribly difficult to use, I got the larger hacksaw and it worked great.
good video, you have a positive way of talking to people. One thing to note , the fitting you're working with is a "coupling" - a union is a different fitting that has two pieces that screw together. Keep making these great videos.
SO helpful! It seems every time my husband leaves for training or deployment, things break. I love information like this to help me make some repairs without having to hire someone at “oh my god an hour”!
She has the military approach down cold: Keep it simple ... Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em; tell 'em; then tell 'em what you tole 'em. LOL ;-) If it is good enough for the military it is good enough for teaching anywhere.
Wow! Thank you for this tutorial! I want to make plastic microphones for my daughters b day party & I was going to try to hack the pvc! Not anymore lol!! Thanks again!!!
Leah, a union is made of thee pieces, 2 of which screw on to 2 separate pieces of pipe and 1 piece that connects the 2. The piece you were holding was a coupling which connects 2 pieces of the same size whether threaded or not.
Just a lil tip with the pvc cutting shears. Once you've got the blade tight enough against the pipe, turn the shears around it. It will cut your pipe clean without much force. 👍🏽
Yes, I agree. As it turns out I have a leak in the A/C and there are a few videos on how to fix it. Not many of them are that clear. Of course, it is highly individual so there is no helping that problem. What most of them skip is how to FIND the blockage in the drain pipe. I suppose you just guess and cut? Not that it is all that big of a problem. The worst outcome is that you replace the whole thing. If you did a video on that it would probably help many. Judging by the number of A/C leak videos out there, there must be a demand. (It won't help me because I've got to get mine fixed tomorrow or the next day.) What WOULD be a good video is a more complete survey of the various PVC fittings. When I went the home store I was able to get the pipe and a T, and some elbows and an end cap. But there are a plethora of other kinds of do dads that make me think I should really know more. I also get that to keep it simple you breezed by the primer and glue. When standing in front of a shelf at the home store looking puzzled, you see that there are about a half dozen kinds of glue related things. It is hit or miss that a person would pick the right one. I suppose that in practice, it does not matter a whole lot for those who are not professionals. OH, and you might mention that the size of the pipe is the INSIDE diameter. IOW, I took calipers and found that my PVC was 1" in diameter. Fortunately I also took the calipers to the home store and checked the diameter of 1" pipe and found that it was about 1.25" or so. That is when I realized that what I really wanted was 3/4" pipe! Easy trap for young players, as Dave Jones so often says. :) All of that said, what an excellent video you have produced. As usual! ;-) I just don't get the Internet mentality that has to look for things to bash .... like your not bolting down the vice for the demo. Sheeesh.
Amazing instructions Leah! Would you be able to make a video how to connect sink 1 1/4 p-trap pvc to old 1 1/4 brass drain line which has no threading :(.
