I like how Conrad really really really really wants to legitimize Meltzer and his feelings about him, but is probably the single person whose activity does the actual opposite of that by exposing him.

Marty Jannety was definitely the reason this was the highest rated Nitro.
Also, speaking on the audience switching back and forth, I watched the Monday Night Wars with my grandfather. He was a WWF fan, I liked Nitro better most of the time, so we watched both Picture in Picture and would switch to whichever had the best action happening. That was so much fun!

Warrior in WCW actually could've and should've worked better than it did. There was some potential for some good creative storylines. The match with Hogan at Havoc completely killed Warrior's time in WCW. One Warrior Nation should've been Warrior and Sting, not Warrior and Brutus Beefcake.

Everyone hates on Warrior because he was a shrewd business man and wasn't willing to bend over for the promoters like wrestlers were taught that they had to do in the past. Everyone cries about Warrior not being a nice guy.. like the wrestling business was full of nice guys willing to allow others to take their spots and pay days. It's hilarious to me to see all the hate for Warrior. At the end of the day he was a guy that set his sights on an incredibly challenging goal, to be in a top spot in the wrestling industry, and he did whatever it took to accomplish that in only several years. It's no surprise why other wrestlers didn't like him. Other wrestlers were 'paying their dues' by getting ribbed and ripped off by promoters for years whereas Warrior came in and beat Hogan for the belt within three years of stepping foot in the ring. That does not happen by accident. Clearly Warrior wasn't as stupid as everyone makes him out to be.

@@OneUltimateWarrior Could've worked. That could've been a good feud after Halloween Havoc. Warrior and Goldberg at Starrcade probably would've been better than Goldberg than Nash, considering that just led to a recycled nWO group with the black and red and black and white coming back together.

Warrior was fine; the problem was that WCW creative had no idea what to do with him. I mean, they started positioning him as a repeat of the Crow Sting story in terms of being the guy who could take down the nWo, only creative did nothing cool with Warrior, whereas the Crow Sting stuff was really good up until Sting got in the ring with Hogan. Warrior in WCW ran out of steam quickly because creative did nothing cool with him and the match with Hogan wasn't good.

I wonder if they manage the little fact that this Nitro ran unopposed by Raw which was pre-emptied for the US Open. It was still just a 6.0. By December 1998 Raw managed a 5.15 rating, while Nitro did a 4.2. Much more impressive. As is of course the unopposed 8.1 rating Raw drew in May 1999 when Nitro was booted off TNT for the NBA Playoffs.
But they and the marks will probably act as if this was because of Warrior, lol.
