My daughter posted a tweet that said, "One unarmed veteran and one drag queen saved more lives in Colorado than 376 cops with a $4 million annual budget did in Texas. I never again want to hear about how kids are unsafe with drag queens." Amen sister!!! 🙌

Thank you for having the integrity to pause your wonderful humor to address a topic that shouldn't be ignored. I have appreciated you as a comedian as long as you've been around, but the role you've come into on this show, as yourself, has proved your quality of character. You are an institution beloved by so many partially because you have the honor to speak truths like these. Thank you Stephen Colbert; I hope to watch you for many, many years to come.

Pretty sure it's going to take more than 10 minutes for most people to find the love of their life or even just someone they'd tolerate spending the rest of their life with. Personally, it all depends on what you put into it and luck. I've dealt with many scammers and people I didn't click with yet I met my wife on a Facebook dating group. Focus on developing friendships and socialize with people who share hobbies you're passionate about and you might have a better shot. When you focus on developing real connections with people instead of trying to catch a good one you're more likely to find a good partner. Also, scammers have used [the promise of] relationships and sex to con people in-person for a long time now so it's hardly exclusive to online dating apps, we just called them conmen instead.

Dating app fatigue is real. The apps say they're designed to help you find love, but they aren't. The goal is to keep you in a state of *thinking* you'll find love, or thinking the person you just messaged is the one. They manipulate you emotionally. I'm glad I'm not alone in ditching the apps. I hope they all go bankrupt.

That's the case of literally every matchmaking service since the beginning, well before dating apps or even dating websites. They make money on selling a promise, not actually getting it, however to be fair, there's no way to ensure it though because love and relationships don't work that way. That said, there aren't good chances of finding someone if they only use a dating app, but some do so it's up to the individual whether or not it's worth it to them.

Dating apps are horrendous. I tried POF and got so many matches that wanted me to go sign up for some weird website. I tried tinder for a while until I found out that guys were right swiping on every single profile in an attempt to increase their chances with hooking up with someone. I think I swiped on maybe 3 or 4 profiles that actually interested me, but I’m sure I was lost in a wave guys that swiped on their profile. Even then when I did match they never responded. Women were just using it as an ego boost. Never really intending to date anyone. I just went back to meeting women at bars. I’ve had more luck this way.

Yea, I remember using OkC some 8 ish years back. Likes and matches were kind of pointless as you could freely browse profiles and message anyone that interested you. It led to a lot of interesting and pleasant conversations and a few people I met are still friends to this day. There was a lot less pressure on needing to have a romantic connection to get to know people.
But having recently seen what has become of the site, I can only weep for it. You can only see profiles that are pushed to you in a queue. You can only message someone after liking them and they will only get that message after a match happened. Gone is the low pressure environment, gone is the open nature to freely get to know who you want to get to know. It's just a tinder clone that is even less intuitive.

It was **never** intended for militias to rebel *against* the federal government. It was the exact opposite intent; to defend the homeland and *protect* the federal government (again, from foreign invaders, local rebellions and slave revolts).

What are some tips to spot scammers in these dating apps?

    • @marcilk7534
      @marcilk7534 Рік тому +1

@@annasmith3257 It’s subtle, but these are some things I watch out for. Of course one on its own doesn’t say much. I look for combos.
Picture looks professional. Sometimes they aren’t professional, but something just seems staged or off. If you are good enough with computers, you can do a reverse image search, but I only was able to confirm one this way. I’m not that good with computers though. Also, you can look up catfish photos on Google to see what kinds of photos are used to get familiar. In the one I caught, the real guy was a pilot that does UA-cam videos. I can’t remember now what the catfish said he did, but there was something about the photo by the plane that made me question.
Love bombing, trying to act like he’s in a relationship with you or he’s in love early in the conversation before really getting to know you.
Not answering your questions, his initial messages seem scripted or irrelevant to your last message. Ask very specific questions that require thoughtful answers or factual information. Some guys just don’t like to write a lot, but a catfish will sound like he’s having an entirely different conversation than you are. For example: You: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Him: As I said my dear, I’m so grateful to have found you. I’m looking forward to a life with you. You are the woman I’ve been searching for. (Also an example of love bombing.)
They end up telling you they are now living or staying somewhere different than what their profile shows. Military photos are a common one, with them saying they are stationed overseas.
Grammar errors that don’t match what they’re saying about themself that would indicate English is a second language, but there is nothing about them that would indicate they weren’t born in an English speaking country. Pronouns, plural, articles, verb tenses are common ones. Of course, we don’t want to be racist about it, but look for patterns and if they make sense.
Then a big one is just use your intuition. Intuition is your subconscious brain recognizing something doesn’t fit a usual pattern and causing you to feel uneasy before consciously identifying what is wrong.
If I had been on dating sites more recently, I may have been able to list others, but these are the biggest clues I look for.

Why are politicians not held to the same anti discrimination standards as the rest of the country? An athlete had a ban of several games because of antisemitism. Demonizing LGBTQI+ should be handled in a similar fashion and nobody excluded. Freedom of speech is not meant to demonize people.
Maybe a non partisan ethics commission can administer consequences for inciting politicians. Consequences could be: not working in committee the coming month, apolosizing, doing something positive for the specific group. Maybe: three times and you are out?
And this would apply to all groups: dragqueens; evangelicals; homosexuals; jews, blacjs, asians, women, atheists, republicans, democrats etc. Etc.
You could still address problems but you need to be able to proof it. If a subset of homosexuals is into grooming, then you should for sure expose that BUT you need to be able to proof this or have a clear indication that that is happening.

I totally agree. I'm not against guns for sport but NOBODY needs an assault rifle and those who want to own assault weapon must have a licence and be on a NATIONAL REGISTER for background checks so they cannot just go to a next state to get one. No more of this nonsense of buying a weapon in a store with your breakfast serial and definitely NO MORE SILLY LOOPHOLES that avoid background checks, such as gun shows! Every gun holder should go basic training (after background checks) including gun safety before they get their licence just like we have to have to drive a car, and every gun owner must be held personally responsible for any misuse - so if a son goes on a rampage with his parent's weapon, his parent is also charged for murder for enabling his son an access. An unlocked weapons cabinet with ammunition inside is no use is a joke, never mind leaving bullets in! Only people who shouldn't have guns are against gun control. However, gun control won't stop mass murderers or crazies who already own a gun, but eventually the incidents will go down drastically and America can join the rest of the humanity. Of course, you can commit a murder with a knife, even a mass murder, as they did in England but the numbers will inevitably be small compared to the number of people you can kill with a rifle in the same time period.

I saw the title and was immediately like "The scam is being tricked into trying hard to get a date, then having to pay for it, say thank you, go home alone and never hear from them again."

Whoever wrote the “heroic patrons” bit of the monologue deserves a fat raise and a firm pat on the back. Spot on.

The band joining Dave Matthews on Friday was OUTSTANDING!! They were incredible. Please let them jam on the UA-cam segments more. Their talent is incredibly impressive. Very grateful I was able to see them live at MSG! A pleasant surprise.

Stephen. Thank you, thank you. Your comments on the Club Q shooting were spot on. If only politicians would have a backbone.

Stephen (& watchers of this podcast), I salute your words and ideas. Yes, let's get some "heroic legislators" to pass a bill making this kind of violence ILLEGAL and UNETHICAL. The shooter should spend the remainder of his miserable life in jail or a psych ward, no questions asked.
