no doubt , women were candy bars to these guys and drugs and booze were more common than potato chips :P .... tho THIS song you actually COULD accurately label wholesome ;)
Her comment on the bass during the solo is appreciated! It is a very cool bass line behind the solo and she gave a rare shout out to it ! She really listened!
Was in high school when this came out, and everyone played the heck out of it until I was sick of it 😂 almost 40 years later, it hits different on a nostalgic level 😊
Early on, Vince, Nikki, and Tommy (Mick Mars is about 10 years older than the other guys and he had his own house and family) did live together in an apartment and it was an unholy mess. It was cockroach infested, they started fires inside it every night, and anyone who wanted to party with them was basically invited over after their shows. You're asking for a disaster when a band is living together.
As for the pentagrams.... Funny you should bring that up, actually. Nikki Sixx (bassist & songwriter) started dabbling with the occult around this time but soon had to stop, rebuke the entities he'd granted entry into his life, and undergo spiritual cleansings to both himself, and his home, in order to expel the dark spirits he'd freed. While he began practicing Satanic spells out of curiosity and ignorance, the entities he'd called upon soon began to physically attack him at night trying to harm him. He also watched multiple objects in his house get picked up by an invisible force and then thrown with immense force all around the house, breaking everything. His experiments with the occult/dark arts had been a success. Turns out, sure enough, this shit was 100% real after all. He soon put it down and never returned to it. His tangible encounters with demonic entities scared him straight.
This was number one so long on MTV countdown they had to retire it. Two songs i will always be able to play on piano, even on my deathbed is this and Richard Marx, lol
Ah, the joys (struggles) of being a rock group always on the road, traveling to super-stardom and the hall-of-fame. Mick Mars with the awesome 🎸solo. Another great reaction
I saw this tou back in the eighties, it was called Theater of Pain tour I still have my ticket stub and pictures they were wearing the same clothes in my pics.
They were all hair bands back then 😂 but these guys weren't as glam as Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Poison... 😂 Ratt was another half-glam? Band. Is that a thing? Idk lol, 80s was an odd time in music as we moved away from the disco era 😂
"I'm a lumberjack, and that's okay. I sleep all night and I work all day. I cut down trees. I skip and jump. I like to press wild flowers. I put on women's clothing and hang around in bars." Well, Maddy, never thought I'd ever associate Motley Crue with Monty Python but you just put that association in my head. Except The Crue slept all day and worked at night. And probably never did the other things, either. Except the women's clothing and hanging around in bars.
Bands are also a business, they have business meetings, they fight, they don’t see each other until it’s time to play or record again. Crue and Aerosmith are notorious for bad internal fighting and are only together for the business (upper management don’t close a big business just cuz they don’t like each other).
U are correct in assuming that members of a band live separate lives ... A band is a job and much like us, we don't usually hang out w/ our co-workers after we clock out. We go home and have our own families... friends... The members of major bands are usually connected by management and get together only to work, rehearse, write, record and tour. However, the members of Motley Crue did share an apartment on the Sunset Strip in L.A. in their early years where they hung out and partied w/ band members of Ratt (another L.A. rock band that made it big by 1984) ... When Motley got together in 1981, Tommy Lee (drums) and Vince Neil (vocals) were young and still lived w/ their parents... Mick Mars (guitar) was much older and a veteran of the L.A. scene, so he had his own place (He also kept some distance between himself and the band) ... Nikki Sixx (bass) couldn't afford his own place either, so he shared that apartment w/ the members of Ratt (They dubbed it 'Ratt mansion west') where they partied after playing L.A. clubs and their fans came back w/ them causing much chaos... Once Motley Crue was signed by 1983 and out on tour in 1984, they were making big money and were able to afford luxury cars and big houses... and all 4 went into their own worlds by 1985. Some major bands did share living spaces when they started because they were too broke to afford even an apartment in their early days... Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Poison, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ramones, and AC/DC were just some of them. Once fame and fortune came their way... their members separated and only stayed connected to the band ...
Motley Crue got its Symbol on Everything and was the first or second album cover was nothing but a Pentagram. Album was called ( Shout At The Devil) and it's a song that made them famous overnight. Satan's Band right after Ozzy Osbourne the Prince Of Darkness!!! Listen to Pink Floyd High Hopes It's a Wonderful And Beautiful Song just for a Amazing Woman like U Maddy With Luv 💞.
Motley Crue is the kind of 80s band that bases a large part of their career on image (just like Kiss or Guns n' Roses, for example), and they kind of escape my generation (a millennial born in 1990), so they fall outside my radar. Therefore, I don't really enjoy their music that much, although maybe their early albums have a few songs I like. From the early 80s, I do like Van Halen or some british heavy metal... What about you? great reaction as usual Maddy ☺💘💜
Awe thank you for your “hearts” just a second ago. I’m trying to catch up, saw this and stopped!! These guys were Mental (in a really kool way) Live!! 🫶💙🎸
Joe Rogan was interviewing Maynard James Keenan (Tool) recently for like the twelfth time and he mentioned another aspect - you don't get great sleep on a tour bus, especially when it's bouncing you upward as it hits ruts (similar issue for sleeping on a ship in rocky waters).
There was a movie called The Dirt that kind of covers the origin of the imagery. Initially at least, it was the bassist's idea Nikki Sixx who is more on the dark/twisted side in his mind compared to the other guys and he wanted to have shock value to stand out, to be controversial and so forth in the 80's where there was a lot of republican activists who would make a big deal over artists like that and they got media coverage for it. They definitely lived the devils lifestyle no doubt... with drugs sex and wildness.
This song played as I was on the plane ride home from Kuwait after Desert Storm lolol. We were all singing it as loud as we could.
Never heard the word 'wholesome' referring to Mötley Crüe 🤣
Yeah they wear as far from wholesome as you can get LOL
They were the ultimate 80s hair band
no doubt , women were candy bars to these guys and drugs and booze were more common than potato chips :P .... tho THIS song you actually COULD accurately label wholesome ;)

The theater of pain tour was something like 95-100 shows. It was a long one. 1984=122 shows, 1985 = 98 shows, 2005 = 146 shows. 2024/25 still going
Great observations.

Well said!

A++ excellent song
I saw this tou back in the eighties, it was called Theater of Pain tour I still have my ticket stub and pictures they were wearing the same clothes in my pics.
The 80’s were so silly. Their one and only ballad…lol…but it was good. 💕💕💕🙏😊
Well, they had a few more ballads, not many more, but some, like Without you or Time for change.
Four ballads.
Get your shit straight.
I'm older, and do love crue 30% for pure nostalgia... no, they were actually f'ing good... kind of more proper glam than hair band?
They were all hair bands back then 😂 but these guys weren't as glam as Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Poison... 😂 Ratt was another half-glam? Band. Is that a thing? Idk lol, 80s was an odd time in music as we moved away from the disco era 😂
You are so beautiful! I’m so glad you did this reaction. Hardly anyone does Motley Crue’s slow songs!❤️ I hope you get around to Without You!

so true its tough for the artist and creators in some ways others can't see
Hi beautiful 😍 one of favorite songs was hit when 24 1986 Dad died June 11 that here seeing them brighten the year
Awesome concert live, seen them as young cats back in the day singing this song, still touring today 🤘😆🤘🎸🎸🎤🥁🔥🔥
But touring without Mick Mars on guitar . It's not the same sadly . Even though John 5 is a very good player .

At one time they were the best..Now they're just a parody of their former selves..
We didnt need cell phones back then for entertainment
We had better things to do😂😂
🤣

Stop poisoning your mind you are way to innocent for this lifestyle

Brings back memories when I was in the Navy when they would announce we were on our way back home after a 6 month deployment.
