Ben, nice video showing the capabilities of your John Deere. It’s definitely a powerhouse. The way you pulled those logs out and how easily you were able to get a full bucket of stone shows it’s a very capable tractor. I’m sure with more hours in the seat you will get used to the gearing and it will be easier for you to pick the best gear for the job you are doing. Very enjoyable video Ben. Thanks
@ it takes a little time to adjust to the layout of those 5 series tractors. My 5400 is down right now for a water pump, and I’m have to use my old 1020 Deere to feed with a I found myself reaching for controls in places that there wasn’t any controls 😂
Until you explained that you didn't raise your box blade at the beginning of the video I saw that new Deere struggling and I thought to myself "Gee-whiz, he should get his Massey 240 and show that Deere how it's done." 😁 The Deere sure made it look and sound easy once you got it going.
Always enjoy seeing you pull logs out of those ridges. The tractor seems to be working well for you. I need a load of gravel myself but they’re expensive here. I was hoping Santa would drop a load when he flew over.
Young man another great video!! Like the sound of that tractor. I think spreadin gravel is right up there with bushhoggin for me enjoy them both but guess i just really enjoy doin anything with tractor guess that stems from 38 year's of drivin a big Truck lol. It'll take you a while to get used to the Tractor sure is fine machine. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
The rear wheel weights have already proved out to be beneficial. I’ve been more or less looking at the 85 to 100 hp range of used tractors and I’m seeing lots of low hour 5075 to 5100 for sale and some with warranty left on them. The pricing isn’t that scary but still more than I’m wanting to spend. I got a friend who’s a diesel truck mechanic and he’s told to stay away from the engine that requires dep fluid. He’s encountered some real issues with people problems dealing with dep. they put diesel fuel in dep tank let the dep tank get empty. So far I’m just not convinced that the above 75 hp newer tractors would work out for me. I’m interested in your comparison of the deere to Kubota. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts. Thanks for sharing your working experiences. I like the box blade idea of the chains and hooks. I got a lot of dead timber that needs to be dealt with just haven’t made the time to do it.
Yeah unless you had to have that hp I’d avoid it simply because of def fluid. That’s where your issues start. Just A particulate filter isn’t bad. The Deere is definitely more stable with a load in the loader. Thanks for watching,
@ I had an awesome Christmas thank you for asking I was dealing with some snow during Christmas. That’s why I love tractors so much. I have the 60 inch blower on mine blows pretty good. Have no complaints whatsoever. Have a great New Year’s as well.❤️
It’s seems to be doing a good job so far but I’m not the one operating it, so I’ll keep watching and listening to you Ben and I know there’s a hole year of work ahead of you to really go through before you can really give us a true sense of how it compares ton the Kubota, God Bless
I could give my initial thoughts but it would be fair. Because the more I’m on the more I like it and the easier it gets to use. Got 25 hours on it after today. Thanks for watching
Yes, I agree your tractor did a good job on the gravel and the logs. Good luck with it, I think you do fine with it. Have a good weekend and Happy New Year!
Ben I really do appreciate the safety measures that you show, you may not even realize that you are demonstrating to your viewers, for example curling your bucket underneath and letting it down before you got off to hook the tree up, so thank you very much, great drag job and gravel spreading, have a Happy and safe New Year
@@criagcundiff2469 I wanted to tell you the little complaints you have about The Tractor I could get used to them that’s for sure. I can say one thing you have a beautiful machine there no doubt in my mind. Once you get used to it you really like the machine that’s for sure. I got used to mine now I love it.❤️
Still Looking good ben, As far a the loader and getting used to it, I know the John Deere has the t-shaped loader joystic and basically your hand lays in it. I wonder, and almost would bet, that if you took that top off and just put you a shifter knob about the same size of the knob on the kubota on there it would fall right in line because that is what your hand and body is used too. I dont care what JD engineers say, they just want an upsell. I've never liked the loader joystick t design on the newer Deere's myself, but I have never ran one other than test driving them... But, if it was so great, other manufacturers would mimic it, and they don't...for a reason! Good Job and Hope you had a Great Christmas.
The more I’ve used it now and did some lubrication on the linkage it’s getting easier to use. I think it just needed some breaking in. Still slower dumping than the Kubota which kinda aggravates me at times. Thanks for watching
How else do you get them out of a hole like this efficiently? Pretty sure by the time I get to sawing them up they will be washed off. Thanks for watching
(In the beginning of the video). Is this the road that you cut into the side of the mountain with the Kubota? Building that road was the first video I watched from your channel.
I’ll do a video on this eventually. Still weighing out the plus and minus’s of both. I made judgment too soon on the Deere, in the first bit I was regretting my decision but with more time I’m starting to change my mind. Thanks for watching
The Kubota topped out about 19 mph max. The Deere about 22 mph. Plus the Deere has about 2 gears between what 3rd and 4th high would have been on the Kubota. So I can drop a gear on hills and still run almost 16 mph with the Deere. I’ll try to do a video on this one day. Thanks
Do tractors have brakes on the front axle with front wheel assist? I know the rear brakes are internal but that would be pretty dangerous to stop a tractor with a trailer loaded heavy. Have a great holiday season! Hope your Christmas was good.
Yeah with 4 wheel drive all wheels help stop. This tractor activates 4 wheel drive any time you hit both brakes. Hope you had a great Christmas also. Ours was good! Thanks
Does the tractors like yours have the John Deere or yanmar motor. I know the smaller John Deere tractors use the yanmar motors. From what I have read up on the m series have the John Deere motors in them. Tractor looks good hope it does well for you
Don’t have enough time to give a good judgment yet. But it’s growing on me the more I run it. The Kubota loader controls and speed was a bit better. Thanks for watching
8:35 I bought a 362 Massey Ferguson new in 1994 and I purchased a new Massey Ferguson in 2022. The new one's just do not have the torque. If you are going up a steep hill with tractor and baler you have to down shift. The old 362 doesn't even know it is pulling a hill
@khtractors Sorry for not mentioning size. It is a compact tractor 1835m. It struggles just pulling itself up a hill in high gear but I like everything else about it. I also have a 4000 Ford and they have no trouble pulling a hill in high gear with a round bale on the back. A friend of mine bought a new JD 5075e and he was saying the same thing but I think we can live with it. They call it progress. ??
@@davidhunt7649 the Deere has 5 gears above what 1st high was on the Kubota based on mph. So it only had 3 more gears. I guess what I’m saying is when you drop a gear on the John Deere in high range it’s not that big of deal. This is my analysis after running it more.
Great shots of your new beast getting after it!
Thanks so much Gary!

How it scooped up the gravel and handles a full bucket did impress me. It’s so planted in the rear end, it’s yet to feel unstable. Thanks for watching
That tractor sounds so much better than the DPF models, you can hear the turbo on them again
@@dwalke26 I absolutely love the sound of it! Thanks for watching

@ I’m getting it figured out now. Learning what gear to use when has been this biggest thing. So much different than the Kubota or even the 5045E.
@ was the Kubota an 8x8 or 12x12 transmission?
@ 8x8
Nothing like skidding outa the log woods!

Awesome tractor work makes my 2038r look very small
It even makes the 5045E look small. Didn’t realize how much bigger this tractor is until parking them together. Thanks for watching
