You know the song has your full attention, when you realize you just let the whole thing play without a SINGLE pause!! This is part of the soundtrack of my youth. I envy you guys.... I sometimes wish I could go back in time and listen to these songs for the first time again!!
I think we thought it would never end. Wait, did it? No, we're still here and still loving rehashing the music that every day on the radio was pure gold!
I'm 70 yrs old - born in Meridian. Miss., Paul's home town. I've been listening to his music a long time. I met him once purely by accident through a mutual friend. Since I have come to know several of his friends and they all say what an humble, nice guy he was. He could rock out, too. Give an ear to " '65 Love Affair ". "Doo Wop Diddy Wop
These two were waiting for a quicker beat n never came. Nirs slow n wonderfull. Listening to this thousand s of xs. Love it so much. They like it. But just v different to them
I’m 61 yrs old, been divorced for over thirty five yrs. She remarried, I did not. I see her at the grandkids parties and Christmas gatherings. Just like the song says, when I look in her eyes, I still go crazy. Helpless feeling. This is a great song and really expresses it from my point of view. Thanks for playing it.
I feel your pain! I couldnt go to place where she d be with her new guy. But if its been 35 yrs she just might have the same feelings that you do. My father left my mother for another woman and even though they were married, my father would constantly talk about his regrets about leaving my mother. This can go both ways!
Sweet life is another great song by Paul Davis. 70s rock or whatever you may want to call it was definitely something special. So much talent back then. Can’t beat that decade
The 70's was the decade of music. All over the place, and intertwining genres and mismatched duets that sounded incredible together. The result was music. Every single day on the radio was some of the best music ever written. Didn't matter if this song was sad, we just loved the sound in our ears and loved every minute of it. Sweet Life is another great song!
Written by Davis, this song finds him encountering and old flame. He didn't expect to see her, and all the old feelings come rushing back. He recounts the breakup, dredging up the awful memories of how she moved on to another man who "satisfies her mind." Seeing her again is unbearable, as he's nowhere near over her Source: Songfacts
ah, why are YOU interpreting this song, the lyrics? What do you think we can't figure it out? I mean, it's pretty self explanatory, all one has to do is listen to the lyrics. SMH
Yes, Paul Davis - "I go Crazy," This hit the charts in 1978 and stayed in top 10 for 8 Weeks. Paul had alot of Soul and differentiated between Good Songwriting and Jamming. Paul had Melody & Harmony. Sadly, Paul Passed Away. Rest In Peace Paul Davis. We still love your Music. Thanks Asia & BJ. This is a Timeless Classic.
Paul Davis, Paul Carrack, Rupert Holmes, David Soul, Gordon Lightfoot, Gary Wright, Ambrosia, and countless others didn't just sing songs in the 70s, they told a journey where you heard and felt every word.
This is the first time, on this channel, I saw a song go right through till the end with no interruption. Paul Davis is another artist like Nicolette Larsen, Dolores O'Riorden, Freddy Valenzuela and so many more that left the earth too early.
@@jameslong1644 yes! I miss the music we had back then. The music today is horrible. There are a few good ones. Not all bad but nothing compares to the 60s70sand 80s
An exceptional song! Has some feelings to it, it's smooth, and it has a great composition. To me, this particular era was so good for quiet, easy, soulful music.
Thanks for mentioning composition on this song. It’s so well done, beautiful use of strings, gentle builds that are still really impactful to the song. ❤️✌️
I still cry when I hear this song. It’s 3:00 and I am in the arms of my husband for 33 years. I remember our past and the love we have grown together over our 38 years together. 🩷🦋
I was 15 when this came out, heard it on the way to Canada, me and my first husband, sadly I'm here cause he just passed 2 days ago, this song brings back ooold but good memories 😢😢
I've always said that I was so blessed to have been raised in a generation of great music like the 70s, going into the 80s. The cool thing was being black I never allowed others to tell me what I should listen to. I listened to the brothers i.e. Earth Wind and Fire, the Isleys, the whispers etc but also the eagles, Paul Davis and many others. We had Soul Train and American Bandstand. I'm glad you're discovering it too. Stay blessed.
I'm 68 and my wife is 61, been married almost 40 years and this has been our favorite song for years. Love the way these two responded to hearing it for the first time.
Asia & BJ, this happens to be one of those songs from my childhood. I always loved the music in this song. You could feel the emotions. BJ has it right, they don’t make songs like this anymore RIP PAUL DAVIS
Eleven years old, black child growing up in the Cali...I remember first hearing this song riding in my mom's Ford Granada at night on I-15 thru the desert. The lights of Victorville behind us, and Barstow ahead of us. The 70s were wonderful
it takes the listener to a dreamy place in a field looking up at the sky on a warm night and seeing things up there we can't explain. it's surreal with the sounds the producer fenagled in the studio with that single. it's not often when someone produces a song so beautiful it sounds even better on playback the morning after. I bet they were so excited in that studio when they listened the next day and it was still magical to their ears. we still used tape then.
Listening to this gorgeous song nearby 50 years, got chills now. One of the most beautiful songs to me ever. Had a good song after this Cool Nights and another I believe. Great voice!!!
This song always gets to me. Paul Davis has beautiful songs and a dynamic voice. Tough to not get caught up in a tidal wave of emotions when listening to him. Cool Night is a must. 65 Love Affair and Sweet Life are two others.
Love this song...so beautifully written and sung.....gets the point across without all the frill....just simple song.....and once you see him your would've never expected this to come out of him 🕊️💗
Paul Davis has 16 songs that charted in the Billboard Top 100. "I Go Crazy" was his 1st song to chart in the top 10 at #7 in the top 100. He had 1 other song chart in the top 10. That song was called "65 Love Affair". He also had 3 other songs where he sang as a guest that charted. 2 of those were with Marie Osmond "You're Still New to Me" which charted at # 1 on the Country charts in 1986, and the other was "Sweet Life" which charted at 47 on the Country Charts in 1987. The 3rd song was with Tanya Tucker "I Won't Take Less Than Your Love" which also charted at # 1 in 1987. Thank you for your reaction of this song, Asia and BJ. RIP Paul Davis (April 21, 1948 to April 22, 2008). He died 1 day after his 60th Birthday.
This gorgeous song is about 50 yrs old and I still get chills listening to it. Great voice , definitely a timeless song.He should have been more successful with a superb voice like his.
was such a beautiful track. BJ nailed it at the end. I wish they still did, though. They actually do. It's just that we don't hear them unless we search and search the dark recesses of the web for the new tracks. 1977 was an eclectic and mesmerizing summer for music.
My ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG! Love Paul Davis! This came out when I was in Jr High and I was obsessed! Until I could save my money for the 45, I would mark my calendar (what a nerd!)when I heard it on the radio. Ended up meeting him in high school and got an autograph picture which stayed by my bed until I got married! 😂
This has been a favorite song of mine forever, but sometimes there will be long periods of time between when I hear it & I forget all about it & then, I stumble across it again & wonder how it could have slipped my mind. 👍👍😄
I was about 12 in 1977 and I remember this song being on my radio and I used to call it "girlie music" although part of me couldn't wait to start dating and being all adulty because at 12, I could understand what this song was about. Then my friends would come over and want to go bike riding. Dating can wait! Friends and bike riding were way more important!!
The man admits that looking his old girlfriend in the eye reawakens his old feelings towards her and makes him "go crazy." To his credit, he does not act on those old feelings, though he does realize that he is not fully over his old girlfriend.
This came out when I was a kid. I loooooved me some Paul Davis. Love his voice. He was a wonderful ballad singer. He had another song I really really loved called "Sweet Life". Love your alls channel btw..one of my favorites ❤️
I was going through a divorce when this was #1 on the charts and I lost it every time I heard it...just now too, after all this time😭 Music truly is a time machine!!💜 Please do "Sweet Life" next...Paul Davis' voice will rip your guts out!!💜🎵🎶 Also "Cool Night" is really good!!🎶
I LOVVVE Paul Davis. "COOL NIGHT" and "65 LOVE AFFAIR" are awesome songs also. His songs immediately take me back to my childhood. Oh my gosh. I love him!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so glad you did this song! I absolutely love it, and I'd be surprised if you didn't listen to it again! Even if you don't have anyone you feel that way about, it's still very touching.
I was back in high school (WAY back) when this was a hit. According to Wikipedia it spent 40 weeks (nine months and one week) on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, setting what was then the record for the longest run on that chart, of consecutive weeks or not.
This song takes me back to a young teenager . Every time I went to my best friends house and we heard this song blasting from upstairs we knew exactly what her mom and boyfriend had going on. 🤣😂🤣
BJ said it all. They don't write them like this anymore. What was called blue eyed soul. I miss the seventies. I blame songs like this for secretly being a hopeless romantic at heart.
"'65 Love Affair" is one of his biggest hits, a sweet & fun song about first love. By all accounts Paul Davis was a gentle, kind man..which, for me, just makes his music even better. 💙☮💙
This is such a great song. Nothing better than love songs from the 70’s. Sweet Life was my favorite song from Paul Davis. You should also check out Johnny Rivers’ Slow Dancing
One of my favorite songs. Matter of fact I have some old CDs and the song is on one of them. Which I just played last week the whole CD but has different artists. Absolutely love this song
Just throw my happy self back to the 70's with this tune. I know so many people that can relate to it. No matter how many years apart, once you look into an old lovers eyes, it does something to you.
Excellent reaction!!! It tripped me out when I first saw this guy singing this song. His hair ir is down to his butt, with a big beard, but he sure can belt it out!!! Keep these GREAT reactions and analysis of songs coming!!!

I feel the same!
Yes, feeling the same.
I think we thought it would never end. Wait, did it? No, we're still here and still loving rehashing the music that every day on the radio was pure gold!

He could rock out, too. Give an ear to " '65 Love Affair ". "Doo Wop Diddy Wop
Agreed 👍
Just another example of why the 70s were so , so good . this came out while I was in high school - still sounds nice
Me too...the seventies were great for music 😎
I agree, 70s were great.
Me too!
These two were waiting for a quicker beat n never came. Nirs slow n wonderfull. Listening to this thousand s of xs. Love it so much. They like it. But just v different to them

💔😓 I'm so sorry.
So sorry Sandyg61, I know that pain. Be strong
I feel ya
I feel your pain! I couldnt go to place where she d be with her new guy. But if its been 35 yrs she just might have the same feelings that you do. Always hurts
Paul Davis has like the prettiest prettiest voice--a favorite song of mine!
Great songs will always stand the test of time.👏👏👏👏
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. His voice is so smooth.
BJ hits the nail on the head again. No, they don't write, play, or sing them like they used to.
Sweet life is another great song by Paul Davis. 70s rock or whatever you may want to call it was definitely something special. So much talent back then. Can’t beat that decade

Absolutely.
Yep! For me the 70’s were everything! Great music, great memories! 🎶
So True
Paul Davis was a great singer and I miss him. Great talent.
"Cool night " & "Sweet life" are two of his best songs. Those 2 songs show off more of his vocal range.
"Cool Night" in particular .. That's a great song !
65 love affair
Love this song!!!! Paul Davis is legendary!!!! Great songwriter!!!!
Another great Mississippi native artist!
Whoa whoa ho whoa ho … I bought this album after hearing it once on the radio. 1976 or so I recall. One the best love 💕 songs ever written !
Written by Davis, this song finds him encountering and old flame. He didn't expect to see her, and all the old feelings come rushing back. He recounts the breakup, dredging up the awful memories of how she moved on to another man who "satisfies her mind." Seeing her again is unbearable, as he's nowhere near over her

Agree
This and his other hits just give you all the good feels...great voice, great lyrics, great music of the 70s. RIP Paul.
Youre right, they dont just come out with such deep courage to sing a song like this anymore. Total commitment. Beautiful 🎉❤

Good memories JB dont ever forget your mama
Agree with BJ: Heartfelt melancholy from lyrics & music. Been there

I wore this record out. Such a beautiful voice to a beautiful love song.
Paul Davis had 3 or 4 mega hits back in the 1970's. They got a lot of radio airplay. He should have gotten a lot more respect than he did.
bring back so many memories of the seventies and the time I grew up in a little bit still today thank you guys

Thank you. It’s wonderful to hear songs again that I had almost forgotten. There was so much good music back then. Ahhh 😌
You're welcome 😊
Our youth needs to be around all of this. Teaches the way true emotions should be.
Just a beautiful song. Love the bass in this song, so strong and forward...
"'65 Love Affair" is one of his biggest hits, a sweet & fun song about first love. By all accounts Paul Davis was a gentle, kind man..which, for me, just makes his music even better.

Fun fact. Back in the day this song set a record for most weeks (40) on the Billboard Hot 100. I believe the record stood until 1983 when "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell spent 43 weeks on the chart.
The first few notes of the melody. Perfection in songwriting!
This is on every one of my playlists
This always reminds me of my first love. I saw her 12 years later and the next day she had a massive heartattack. I balled my eyes out for days.
Paul Davis was awesome!
One of my faves! So beautiful and heartfelt ❤️. Your so right BJ songs of today are not romantic and they do not move your soul like songs of yesteryear ❤️
Beautiful song!
This is a beautiful song!
Get a little Doo Wop in your life with Paul Davis and his " '65 Love Affair."
