Simple Bread Pudding

- This is my version of basic and delicious bread pudding!
Ingredients:
1/3 Cup Raisins (softened in hot water for 5 minutes)
6-7 Slices Bread (cubed)
4 Eggs (room temperature)
8 oz. Sweetened Condensed Milk (from 14 oz. can)
½-¾ Cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
¼ teaspoon Salt
¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
1 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
1 ½ Cups Milk (room temperature)
Sauce:
Remainder of Sweetened Condensed Milk (6 oz.)
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1-2 Tablespoons Butter

So delicious 😋. I have a quick story about Bread Pudding to share. Decades ago a favorite neighborhood Café was struggling to stay open. A lady from the neighborhood said she could save it from closing. The owner smiled, not believing her but she insisted he try her family's recipe for Bread Pudding! Winthin a month's time locals and truckers alike flocked to the neighborhood Café for Breakfast and Dinner to get their fill of Bread Pudding. The owners remained open and expanded their business by offering To-Go deliveries by bicycle of their Bread Pudding Breakfast menu by offering it anytime during business hours to the truckers at the truckers loading docks nearby. I can still taste that yummy goodness 40 years later! Yes indeed, true story ❤.

Thanks for posting, Ken. This takes me back to my childhood. My father would make us Bread Pudding, or Rice Pudding, if there was rice left after dinner.
He would dust the top with brown sugar and extra cinnamon, serve it in a bowl, and we'd put some cold milk on the hot pudding, just out of the oven. I'm going to try your sauce. It's been a long time since I've had bread pudding. Your recipe looks great.

YOU can also, put apple or pineapple in this recipe.......along with the rasins.....with just the rasins to me it is sorta like cinnamon rolls without he pecans...and you can also add pecans into the recipe.......and sometimes we had vanilla ice cream with it.....

Mr. Click, i just made your recipe. Jimmy says it tastes really good (i do, too!) My first time ever making bread pudding. I used some homemade coffee bread i made. My didnt eouldnt fit in my air fryer so i baked it. Wish i could send you the picture.

I guess if you want Rum Bread pudding you'd soak the raisins in rum and add rum to the sauce.

6 slices day-old bread
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch square baking pan. Drizzle melted butter or
margarine over bread. If desired, sprinkle with raisins.
3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat until well
mixed. Pour over bread, and lightly push down with a fork until bread is covered and soaking
up the egg mixture.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top springs back when lightly tapped.
