Here I walk you through my workflow for bouncing your loops/stems out of the Blackbox via resampling and importing them into your DAW.
In this specific example I show how to quickly import them into an Ableton Live session for arrangement and track completion.

Thanks for the tutorial and tips on using BlkB w/Ableton.
Glad it was helpful!
Much appreciated! This is a great technique and pretty easy really. In another comment, you asked what hardware exports stems. My Roland FA-06 workstation has a 16 track linear (not clip-based) sequencer, tons of polyphony, and is a veritable "greatest hits" sound module (full of classic synths and drum machines). The sequencer exports song stems automatically. I just tested having it send clock to my Blackbox. When I hit play on the workstation sequencer, the two instruments play their sequencers in perfect sync with no drift. Now I can add all that Blackbox goodness to my Roland tracks and have all the stems for a final mix. Sweet! Thanks again.
That sounds like a great setup and sound like a good work flow for you!
Very helpful. Thanks from a Blackbox newbie trying to learn!
Suggestion: put the “SG” at the beginning of the file name. That way all the stems you are importing to the DAW show up next to each other in File Manager or Finder.
Great tip for grouping the file names!!!
This is wonderfully useful, many thanks 🙏
Cheers!
Very helpful video man, would love to see something similar for how you would do this with your Octatrack
I can definitely do that for the OT.
It’s a similar process but a little easier
@@_justin_joe ah nice man, it's been bugging me for ages, just wish there was something like an Octabridge haha
@@jonsamwell5268 Totally! I know all us OT users keep holding our breath that there might me a MKIII at some point, with Overbridge being one of the primary upgrades.
Perfect ! Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Thank you! great video
Much appreciated!
I don’t know Ableton or any DAW that well for that matter, but this is the best search method you can come up with? I’m not trying to be a jerk, I honestly don’t know, I do know I’m better off using the DAW in Davinci Resolve if this is the case with all of them. Can’t you color all new uploads something different or something? So if you upload them first, can’t you just select them all and make them another color? I apologize, I’m in fear of my ignorance really showing through, I just can’t believe you can’t search by gy or something. That’s a horrible work flow! I really enjoyed the video and informative! Peace
Thanks for throwing this up, Justin. I know it’s been awhile. This approach really requires one to keep each sequence limited to the instruments you want on each track, unless I’m mistaken, right?
Thanks!
Yes, kinda.
With the exception that you could combine 2 or more tracks at the same time. Basically any combination of tracks. But you are correct insofar as gore stripped down tour individual tracks are. Hope that makes sense.
Hey if you put the gy first (GY Kick) then all the stems will be together when you go to find them. Thanks for the informative video
That is a great point. SO obvious yet I never thought about it. Thanks the great tip!
Definitely doing that going forward
@@_justin_joe no worries, sharing knowledge is how we all grow. keep on sharing
@@RobertSaxy Couldn’t agree more!
That’s why I love sharing on the channel and getting great feedback and tips from you guys!
I got some fire songs i made and saved to preset drum kit also in song mode but how the heck ya get it off sd not to daw but just the wav file or?
One option, if you have it arranged in the song mode already you can use the 6 outputs to multi track record it by assigning the pads to the individual outs. Is this an option for what you are looking to do?
@@_justin_joe no looking for just the file as wav or something i have a zoom h1n not sure if i can just record to that also just got a Novation circuit tracks I wonder if I can hook up to the black box I'm pretty sure that's possible
@@SonicVibe The process shown in the video creates a wav file. If you want to capture the whole song as a wave file you can do the exact same thing and resample the whole song to just one pad and that will create a wav of the whole track. If people are interested I could do a quick video on this similar process as well.
@@_justin_joe that would be great!
Thank you, does the Blackbox also makes an "preset.als" file in your song map on the micro SD-card that you can drag into Ableton Live ??
To the best of my knowledge the als. file is for importing and mapping multisamples (instruments) but it would not be able to import your clips as wav files.
Anyone else that may have a bigger brain than me please feel free to chime in. :-)
Is there anyway to record in real time going thru interface straight into your DAW? I didn’t see any audio outs on this machine. Thanks
Absolutely! It has 3 sets of stereo output that can be assigned and multi tracked as 6 mono outs.
Its a shame that 1010music is don’t able to write some code lines to realize stem export. That’s the reason i sell it. 💁♂️
It would definitely be a heaven send and possibly (hopefully) it will be added in future updates.
Is there any gear (Hardware) out there that currently does export stems?
@@_justin_joe AKAI Force
@@HOLODECK-MUSIC-PROJECT Good to know! Do you have one? If so, please share your experience with this functionality.
That's the one feature people have asked for that they won't add that's why I sent mine back
@@_justin_joe Pioneer's Toraiz sp-16. Export all 1-16 +/or Master track, takes about 20 seconds. Would love to see this on the BB, along with the Song arranger mode.
