I saw Gladiator in the theatre at 10 years old and it changed my life. I have some trepidation about this sequel because of Napoleon being such a letdown, but I’m very excited. So much nostalgia. And yes! I remember Gladiator being one of our first dvds, but I think we had the vhs as well.

I was VERY surprised with this trailer. Looks INSANE in the best ways! Nobody needs to compare any movie/character to Crowe or Phenix's from the original. Kinda like nobody should have compared Gylenhall to Swayze in roadhouse as an example.

In this particular trailer it makes sense. The song of choice is called No Church In The Wild” the idea of Rome and the colosseum being this big immortal place and the protagonist doesn’t see it as such. Hence the lyrics Human beings in a mob What's a mob to a king? What's a king to a God? What's a God to a non-believer Who don't believe in anything? It’s more-so a song of challenging the status of things.
He's actually playing a guy who schemed his way to becoming emperor. Macrinus. So, yeah, depending on how this movie goes, we could see EMPEROR DENZEL.
I don't like the music for this, but the film looks good, so I will give it a chance. If it's bad, that's fair enough, bash it, but I'm sick of people gatekeeping past films. Can you imagine if they went to make Empire Strikes Back today? "The first one was perfect; what a cash grab; why bother" I don't see it matching the first one; a lot of classics come out with the right cast and, at the right time, a bit of magic, but I will gladly settle for "A good" film.
Please watch some of Paul Mecal's work. He is one of the greatest young actors around. He won a BAFTA for Normal People. Then he was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar in Aftersun. Then he won the prestigious Olivier award playing Brando's character Stanley Kowalski in the stage production of A Steetcar Named Desire. Kowalski is the role that put Brando on the map. I first saw Mescal in Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Lost Daughter, holding his own playinig opposite Olivia Colman. It's quite a small role, but he leapt off the screen with a natural sincerity. He was also lauded in last year's All of Us Strangers. He is truly an immense talent.
Not exactly about the main trailer itself, but I LOVE (hate) when trailers have an intro to the trailer saying the trailer is now starting. As for the trailer itself though, it doesn't look like the most interesting movie ever, but also it doesn't look like I'd hate it. I'm not a fan of the music in the trailer either though, seems too modern. But other than that I'd still definitely watch it. HATED cinderella man, but I liked Paul Mescal here

I’m a total whore for Pedro Pascal but I’m still genuinely shocked at how awesome this actually looks. Super weird casting Eddie Munson as a foppy ass ginger emperor though. Hell I’ll still be there! It just looks like solid, big budget entertainment…kind of like what we had in the 90s.

This is now my most anticipated movie this year this looks amazing. I was worried since the first is one of my fav movies of all time, but I have faith in this. The new castings amazing, and I love that they kept some of the characters from the first.
