Nice, comprehensive video tutorial. I do enjoy your vids and have gotten nice bits of information from them due to how thorough you research and explain things. Good job.
My only complaint is that it's not pronounced "Ubuntu Matay", but "Ubuntu Mate". I get that the UK has it's own thing, but Matay is not correct. It is Mate (like you call your friend. Ay, mate?). I know in the UK you also call it a rooter, but the rest of the English-speaking world calls it a router (rowt-er). Isn't it fun to be able to have multiple pronunciations of the same word? I point these out so that people outside the UK use it properly. If I get a customer ask about a suggestion for a rooter, I refer them to a plumber, or maybe a landscaper.
Wow. Most videos jack their jaws and don't give you exactly what you need. You're straight to the point and a little bit cheeky, which I appreciate. Bravo. I'm not afraid that I will erase my main computers and this will help to resurrect my old computer to learn Linux. Also you gave an answer to the Windows catch 22 problems that I thought about for years, but never actually did anything about.
Best ventoy instruction video I’ve seen. Thank you
Great video, very helpful and clear step-by-step guide is awesome.
As the saying goes:
Tell me, I forget.
Show me, I remember.
Involve me, I understand.
Thank you for helping us learn and keep up the good work !
No problem. I'm glad you found it helpful. Thanks for your encouraging feedback :)
Great Video, Terrific, you're the first person to provide a clear explanation of how to create the USB drive and download the distribution. Very useful. Thx
You're welcome. Thanks for your support :)
Excellently presented, hats off to you sir 👏👏👏
A great tutorial from a great channel. Thanks so much!
Excellent quality videos; best of luck with the channel!
Much appreciated, thank you.
Nice, clear, and straight to the point. Subscribed!!
Ta very much. Glad you liked it :)
Great instructions. Thank you for the time and effort you took to make this video and share it with us. Greetings from Croatia.
No problem. Glad you found it helpful. Hello from the UK :)
Great job on showing the update process too.
You're welcome :)
Thanks a lot. The Lesson is deep, clear and understood
This is one of the greatest videos I have ever watched
Keep going
Thank you for your kind words.
Your speaking is very clear and get every words what you talks.
Good to hear you were able to follow along. Thanks for watching :)

Thank you! You have a really nice calming voice & its very appreciated right now do to probs having w/windows op system stressing me out! Miss my Mac more every day!Lol! You made this all seem easy enough~ Ive been checking out different sites to download the iso file so I can make a new boot disk so hopefully I've got it down now! Thanks again! You've been a Big help for a girl in the Pacific Northwest USA!
Good to hear you've got it sorted. Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated :)
Excellent video. Clearly explained. Instructions like a pro.
Ta very much :) Thanks for your support.
@@bytemypi2918 keep up the good work
Fair tutorial. The only thing I would do different, and I consider this essential, is before choosing install, click options and put a check next to secure boot support. If you don't do this, modern computers will require you to disable secure boot in the the bios. Checking before installation will alleviate that issue...
Good point, and from what I hear windows 11 will not work/install with unsecure boot, so for me ventoy caused a lot of problems and blocked any booting from usb and after some sweat I got rid of this ventoy jock.
Fantastic Vid thank you I have ordered a new USB can't wait to get going on this it will save my life one day :-)
No problem. Its definitely a handy addition to your technical toolkit :)
Ive been watching a bunch of your vids while seting up mine, exellent work man..
Ta very much. Thanks for your support.
@@bytemypi2918 just a update.. it worked.. basically the story is I had an old laptop no HDD.. no power... So in the adventure of looking for power cord I ended up ordering two laptops of the same variety cuz it came with too power cords.. but only the laptops came in and only one had a hard drive which both were not supposed to have a hard drive so someone screwed up something and no one got back to me so they're mine now..
The one had Windows XP and it would belong to a server that was part of an emergency response system for a local government in Missouri....
But with that ventoy I finally got around it.. originally I was going to plug the hard drive to a SATA to USB... But they're older so they're not say that so I had to figure another way out while the other tool came in which is the IDE to USB thing....
Your video helped me not only reformat and partition the HDD inside it but also installed a 32-bit OS of Linux on it... I actually just installed the first 32-bit OS of Linux that I could find which was Kali... I only had about a couple hours when the idea occurred to me the time I had to go to bed...
But it worked... So now I just need to find other operating systems to place on them..
And so I'm thankful that I found your videos... Because now I got rid of the problem of there being Windows XP the password from a server of emergency response that wouldn't let me in and now I have full access to the machine...
The Kali 32-bit OS.. was mainly used to just get rid of the problem... Now I just need to find an OS put on each system and withventory I have the ability to have variety off of One USB...
So again thanks.. you've been a great help
@@Tidvel You're welcome. Glad you've got it up and running. Lots of Linux distros have now stopped supporting 32 bit but I believe Debian still supports older hardware, so could be worth a look :)
@@bytemypi2918 I managed to find a few.. hell I found a 32 bit version of Kali .. but doesnt run well on it.. so I through mint on there ..seemed to handle it pretty well
@@Tidvel Sounds good :)
Thanks for yet another clear and comprehensive intro/tutorial :)
Best regards
P.S. Just curios, is there any particular reason to why You choose to "manually check" the hashes in the web page against "GTK-Hash", rather than using the "compare-function" in the same program ?
No problem. Not really. Just use whatever method works best for you :)
This software saved my ass was going to buy 3 usb sticks then i got the idea to google if this was possible and my god it is love it and great tutorial!
Thanks. Glad it helped :)
Thank you very useful video also you have a nice voice Thanks for your time.
Excellent video! Nice animation! Subscribed.
It Worked !!!! Jolly Good Brit!!
I installed Ubuntu Desktop , Windows 7 ultimate SP1 , Windows 10 + Office 2019 , Hiren boot CD and MacOS High Sierra. We are so lucky that Ventoy support vhd disks (vhd is virtual hard disk) . I found this video helpful. PS: to vhd drive i installed Windows 11 x64 :)
Great presentation. Many thanks
No problem. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video! I wish my chemistry teacher had been as effective as you are!! Best regards, Old John
Thank you. I was never that great at chemistry - always preferred physics!
@@bytemypi2918 Do you have any experience or interest in Bodhi Linux? I'm always searching for a fast, lightweight OS for older 64-bit equipment but with some style.
I'm also interested in an OS for educational purposes to teach my 7-year old grand-daughter to use conventional computer / laptop apps for reading and math and science, rather than android cellphone and tablets apps that seem so generic Best regards, Old John.
@@oldjohnsavarese3192 I know that Bodhi Linux is supposed to be relatively lightweight and is based on Ubuntu, but I don't have any personal experience of it.
If you're after a good, solid, lightweight distro (and haven't used it already) I'd take a look at Ubuntu Mate.
I'd also try Peppermint OS if you like a bit of style, but still want a distro that should run on older machines.
Thank you for the useful video. If I want to install, rather than use a live version, of multiple Linux distros, say 10 or more, on an external hard drive (say 2 or 4 TB), would Ventoy be the best choice?
I've tried several multiboot tools and Ventoy certainly seems to be one of the most reliable.
nice video. Maybe make a followup video on how to make persistence and exploring other options from the boot menu?
Thanks for your support :)
Thank you, very good explin
You're welcome :)
Very good tutorial. Just one question: Do we need to install Windows 10 on Ventoy USB or C drive? What menu option for Windows 10 one will get on Ventoy USB menu? Thanks.
Thorough thanks
Thank you.
This helped a ton.
Now i don't have to keep re-formatting my usb drive.
You're welcome :)
Very interesting, i searched a lot avout multiboot usb but never tumbled upon ventoy. I found out about it when LTT mentioned it.
Great vid thanks
No problem :)
appreciated the video, step by step guide. Great job, but I'm wondering could I add proxmox server and ubuntu server?
Tnx brother ♥️
very useful , thanks. can i add some iso's later ?
good video, mate
Ta very much :)
@@bytemypi2918 too bad i didn't see it until after i bought 10 USB drives from amazon
@@danielguerrero1176 Blimey. It's a good job USB sticks are a lot cheaper than they used to be.
Thank you for the thorough video! I get the bitlocker recovery screen when trying to boot into Windows now. Any suggestions on how to avoid this when rebooting? I disabled secure boot. Thanks!
You'll most likely need to re-enable secure boot in order to load Windows. If you don't want to disable it each time you use Ventoy take a look at the following article:
www.ventoy.net/en/doc_secure.html
Hope that helps :)
I've been struggling to find an soft soft tutorial. I haven't watched yours yet but if the actual company is telling you nice job, then I'm
Greedy feature question. Can you save anything you install back to the iso image when running the OS of that image?
Not that I'm aware of, but if you install one of the operating systems and modify it, you could then create an image of that using Rescuezilla. I did a video on this topic, if you'd like to check it out:
ua-cam.com/video/20WpVButTW8/v-deo.html
Hi, thanks for video. Is it a good idea to add rescuezilla or clonezilla to the ventoy usb?
Shouldn't you check "secure boot support" under "options" before installing Ventoy?
Nice, and in a 'propa' accent. Midlander meself. made it clear
Yep, forget the north and the south, the midlands is where its at :)
do you know how to setup persistence mode with kali linux bootable using ventoy?
Hi,
I'm trying to install Ventoy on Linux Ubuntu 20.04 and can't get it to work with either gtkhash or going the terminal way. I downloaded the very latest version of Ventoy 1.0.52-linux. Is it possible that that doesn't work and should I go for an earlier version? If an earlier release is the answer, how do I download it?
Thanks
The setup process is a little different in (Ubuntu) Linux. First make sure you have your USB stick connected to the computer. Once you've downloaded the Linux version of Ventoy, right click on it and choose "Extract here". Enter the ventoy folder that gets extracted. Then right click on the ventoy subfolder within it and choose "Open in Terminal". Inside the Terminal window, type the following (the command is case sensitive):
sudo ./VentoyGUI.x86_64
Press Enter and, when prompted, type in your account password to run the program as admin. That should open Ventoy2Disk and you can now install it to your USB stick. Hope that helps :)
@@bytemypi2918 Hi,
Thanks, I have it now. My apologies for the late acknowledgement. The rainy season is upon us and we have a seriously leaking roof, two cars, both with tire problems and, with school children still trying to study on line, limited internet access.
@@seacook42 That doesn't sound good, but I'm glad you got Ventoy working.
If I worked on one the Linux distros from usb drive and I saved some files, those files will reside in my usb stick and the next time I restart the Linux, the files will be there, right?
One vid I watched mentions changing the settings in Ventoy to allow safe boot mode I think?
I'm not sure what you mean by safe boot mode for Ventoy. What are you trying to do?
@@bytemypi2918 Secure Boot support…you choose it as an option when formatting the usb for multi boot it suppose to help bios allow ventoy to work
@@TaureanRuler Ah secure boot. Yes, Ventoy added support for this, but its a bit hit and miss at the moment. If you're running Windows, odds are secure boot is already turned on in your computer's UEFI/BIOS. Its largely to prevent rootkits and malware infecting the Windows bootloader, so isn't really necessary for Linux. In fact it will actually prevent some non-Windows operating systems from even booting! For this reason, if you run into issues using Ventoy, you may need to turn it off while you're using it.
You can read more about secure boot and Ventoy here:
www.ventoy.net/en/doc_secure.html
Hope that helps :)
Is it possible to drag these ISO files into an external hard drive instead of a USB?
can I install ubuntu as my main os and remove windows from my pc by this live boot usb?
My GMS soft really electric and notNice tutorialng like a app. Any tips how to fix?
hi!any idea how i fix boot cd to ventoy?
Btw I have ASUS Modern UEFI Unlity does it works with i7 16 gigs of ram 2080ti does it will work?
Ventoy should work with your system as it supports UEFI, though you may need to turn off Secure Boot. Hope that helps.
It wouldn;t cause a catch 22 because you can download iso using linux (doesn't use media creation tool but rather is normal iso like linux), but maybe just to be safe you could download windows iso anyway
Is there an easier way to start this system?
My pc is not compatible on 64bit will 32 work?
How do i know if support uefi or mbr installation of the iso for both new and old computers
Ventoy supports both computers with the older BIOS and UEFI. Whether the individual ISO will boot properly on the PC will depend on what operating system it is, but most of the popular Linux distros should support the majority of computers manufactured in the last decade. Hope that helps :)
@@bytemypi2918 thanks :)
I was also trying to know if i use mbr partition only..will the pendrive be detected on pure uefi bios with no uefi-csm or legacy Support?
@@asdbef3667 mbr is still supported, so a modern pc with uefi should have no problems detecting it :)
Hi, It's a good information, I'm using a Mac , can I still use this?
I don't believe Ventoy supports macOS, but I don't own a mac so unfortunately can't confirm this one way or the other.
If it doesn't work, one potential workaround may be to try setting up Ventoy inside a Linux virtual machine on your mac. If you fancy giving that a try, feel free to checkout my Virtualbox video:
ua-cam.com/video/oahjCMtjumc/v-deo.html
Hope that helps :)
@@bytemypi2918 Sir, thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. I will try.

I don't understand the value of checking the hash. If a hacker uploaded malicious code, would he be too stupid to replace the hash with a compatible version?
I've used VENTOY a LOT- and they are GREAT....BUT--- I have recently discovered that if you use it over and over often-- it WILL begin to put out corrupted files and the software you install with it-- will have many issues!!! Best to change the USB after so many uses so that doesn't happen.. I was using a SCANDISK usb drive too- a GOOD QUALITY one- and I've had 30 distos on it and OFTEN changed them out... because i love playing with the different ones..... but as I said- after I used it - a LOT and often- I started having issues wiht NONE of the distros working correctly.. So- after so many usess-- CHANGE THE USB drive-- I don't know if that is fault of the VENTOY program itself or if the usb stick wears out... either way- CHANGE IT OUT after so long to AVOID corrupt programs and a LOT of headaches.
I have a use 3.0 64 GB SanDisk Pen Drive is it good
SanDisk is one of the biggest names in USB sticks so it should be fine :)
So is this ventoy good to make a boot about windows 10, I had a crucial m.2 drive fail on me, It went on a brand new gigabyte H610i and after about 10 hours of using the M.2 on a new build thr drive went, kept going into repeat bios loop, So yeah i have had to get a kingston m.2 as the price is good for the 1000g, And kingston still a top brand for memory yeah?.
But yeah can i create a windows boot usb from this ventoy thing?.
Its not easy putting a PC together, its easy to fit the parts but keeping a stable system with windows is practically impossible, You do a windows update and get problems to keep your head stressed until the next updates...
Its always windows update that causes me problems, I don't see how windows 10 or 11 is so expensive, That is the ultimate power having the operating system on everyone's PCs, Why is it windows got that ability, lol?.
Yeah can anyone explain how i can do a boot able windows on a USB stick, i got a laptop i can use, Im wondering if i could use a samsung S6 lite tablet, lol?.
Still though i need a bootable windows usb, Can some one please help?.
No download link
there is an option in ventoy to install secure boot keys
so you don't need to disable secure boot
Yes, when you are preparing to install Ventoy onto the USB, there is an option in the ventoy installer menu called 'secure boot' checkmark it.
Wow
In my recommended section was your video about Rescuezilla (ua-cam.com/video/20WpVButTW8/v-deo.html) which sounds like a must-have in such a multi-boot utility. Thanks for the videos!
No problem. Yes, it's definitely a great tool to have in your collection :)
It's the weed
🌴🌴🌴🌴🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
ventoy like bad name XD
Or just use a virtual box
enough with history lesson ....
It's the worst piece of crap I have ever used, it's pure JUNK, incompatible with so many software. Can't even get memtest86 to work, it boots to a black screen, yes my motherboard is UEFI complaint, can only boot in legacy for memtest86 - YET when using memtest86 alone on a stick it boots in UEFI fine, it's GARBGAE, you are better off having individual USB sticks for every software you want to boot from, less headache. I am reminded each time why I should stay away from open source projects, if they cannot properly QA their software they should just give up, Ventoy is HYPE it does not do what it says it does, and it only works with a VERY LIMITED number of software, mainly OS installers.
dose this work with trying windows?
