The Almighty takes the weakest, most unexpected, unassuming, or unlikely candidate for the occasion, and raises them up to strength and greatness; e.g. Moses had murdered, yet was chosen to deliver the law; Jonah repeatedly ran from the Lord's calling, but became a prophet; David was a shepherd, yet he became a warrior and a king. The Almighty does this throughout all the scriptures. This is just one thing that shows how great He is why I love Him. It's just such a wonderful and beautiful thing.

Give me back a yesterday And take my tomorrows Science is not exclusively factual or objective. It’s littered with gap-filling of opinions without evidence, and provable evidence found to be contrary to popular opinion tends to be ignored. What I find to be a common theme amongst those arguing science vs scripture is an insufficient understanding of either. A basic college-level understanding of the sciences should have one questioning how scientists have made their conclusions, if not from their own imagination. And often a conclusion made by one branch of science is completely rejected by another.

Rabbi, the Torah teaches that Messiah comes twice via the example of Moses: in that Moses himself came twice to save his people. The first time the people rejected him with the phrase "who made you prince over us?", and the second time he came riding on a donkey and delivered them out of Egypt into the Promised Land. Even our understanding of the Prophets, if we hold them to be canon (which we do) when talking about Messiah, our understanding of their writings has to be in line with the Torah's examples or we miss the truth altogether. Furthermore to say that mashiach in one place can not be used to further understand Mashiach, totally discredits the Torah's teaching that we understand Torah truth through PaRDeS of which Remez is one of the methods of interpretation the Torah itself teaches us to use in delving into its mysteries. And in fact, it is ony at the level of Remez that we even know about Mashiach from Torah, since no where in Torah is Mashiach found at the Peshat level as referring to the son of David who redeems Israel at the end of this world. So by cautioning people to not look at Remez when it comes to mashiach, you actually wind up removing Mashiach from Torah altogether.

Hi Patricia. UA-cam 'removed' my account yesterday for a few hours, for 'violating their guidelines'! I just got my account back around 3 a.m. this morning after informing them that THEY are in violation of my HUMAN RIGHT to FREEDOM OF SPEECH, and that the purpose of a comment section is the "FREE" exchange of ideas between people with differing 'opinions'.
I reminded them that I had NOT threatened anyone with physical harm, nor had I made any seditious comments against the Gov't. After reading my complaint about my account being deleted, and reviewing my account, they restored it a couple of hours later, with an apology, saying that I had NOT, in fact, violated their guidelines - but in typical YT fashion, they never tell you WHAT you said that 'violated' their 'guidelines'! This also happened twice before, when my account was "suspended" for a couple of weeks, instead of being "deleted" - no explanation!
So, I guess my former comments are gone, unless I beg them to put them back, but the fact that they deleted my account stressed me out so much (on top of the personal stress I am already under!) that I don't have the energy for another fight with them! Do you remember what I said? They must be doing this to a lot of people, because I often go looking for people's previous replies, and they're just gone, and I can't respond to them! YT must have an overzealous employee enforcing their 'guidelines', according to their OWN 'opinion' - dunno!

If you reply more than once, you get another 'form letter' type of e-mail, to which you can't respond (it's one of those '@donotreply' ones!), saying that you're only allowed ONE 'appeal' in reference to your account!
SO...you never know exactly WHAT you said that 'set them off' and caused them to shut down your account!! They're NOT easy to communicate with, that's for sure!! Either somebody took offence to something I said and reported me, or, as I said, maybe UA-cam has an overzealous employee working for them, who offends easily - dunno, and never will, apparently! Just a quick notice: The whole vers is changed. In Isaiah it says:''And a redeemer will come TO Zion'' even more the NKJV says ''The deliverer will come OUT OF Zion'' or ''come from Zion'' as in the vers presented here. Now from ''come to a place vs come out of that place'' is a huge difference. Example: Coming to Jacob is not the same as Coming out of Jacob. Baruch Hashem.

Hi there Rabbi Singer, how you have you been, sir?
I just want to ask a question.
The Messiah is a concept of Judaism, and then incorporated and syncretized into Christianity. But the problem is, at least how I understand the concept, is that the Messiah has to have the lineage of King David.
This alone refutes the Christian claim.
But some Christian apologists claim that the lineage is through his mother, i.e., Mary.
So the question is - how would one address the claim?
Is Mary a descendant of King David?
And even if that is the case, can her lineage be legitimate in Judaism, i.e., maternal lineage as opposed to paternal lineage, i.e., through the father?
Thank you, and please stay safe, Rabbi.
    ...

    • @dumbledor22
      @dumbledor22 3 роки тому +2

Absolutely not! Only paternal leniage counts. It doesn't help at all if your mother is from king 👑 David.
And keep in mind by the way, that even if it's possible that jesus is descended from King David, and even if we would know for sure that this is the case, (and even if we would have no other problems and contradictions with Christianity whatsoever), the burden of proof is still on the "Christians" to prove that jesus is the messiah - not on us.

So she got it wrong, on where exactly in the Talmud the quotes were. It doesn't mean it wasn't mentioned, just because you said so.
    Sukkah 52a
Apropos the eulogy at the end of days, the Gemara asks: For what is the nature of this eulogy? The Gemara answers: Rabbi Dosa and the Rabbis disagree concerning this matter. One said that this eulogy is for Messiah ben Yosef who was killed in the war of Gog from the land of Magog prior to the ultimate redemption with the coming of Messiah ben David. And one said that this eulogy is for the evil inclination that was killed.
So the rabbis don't agree either aye?
Why focus on what Paul changed, or sports analogies, and just address what's in the Talmud? What was that about card tricks?

That is how the Talmud works. There are disagreements about everything and there are rules whom we follow when... when the disagreements have a practical application. This disagreement is insignificant because it does not have a practical application, just a different reading of what the eulogy is about.

Are you suggesting the donkey in Zechariah 9 is just an allegory? I don't know about that, Rabbi. I
think Zechariah meant this to be understood literally.
With respect to Zechariah 12, I kind of agree with Rabbi. I think the general interpretation of chazal was that Messiah Ben Yosef would be slain in the War of Gog and Magog and Israel will mourn for him. His death will also atone for Israel's sins.
The idea of vicarious atonement is very Jewish. I know there is a tradition in Judaism that the death of a tzaddik can atone for sin. We also see examples of vicarious atonement in ancient Israel when the high priest would offer a sacrifice for the sins of Israel every year on Yom Kippur.

Yes, it is an allegory. And the pessage in Daniel that says he'll come with the 🌥 clouds of heaven, i heard there is a midrash that explicitly says that this refers to an 🛬 airplane (imagine to write such a thing in their time about 2000 years ago!), but this too is a metaphor, it describes the possible ways moshiach might come, if we repent of our own will, it will be smooth sailing and great fun, like an airplane ride. And if god has to cause suffering to force us to repent, then it will be like the slow laborious ride of a donkey (exactly as the rabbi explained).
Regarding your other question: yes we do believe that the suffering of the righteous, for example moshiach son of yosef (and son of David as well) can atone for the generation. But what Christians believe about jesus is going much to far with this. We jews believe that suffering can only atone for sins "already" committed, not for what you "will" sin in the future, and Christians want Jesus's suffering to atone for the sins of all future generations. Well that's like paying the police 🚨 a fine and then saying " i paid you in advance, now let me speed", that's called bribe - not a punishment.
Also the suffering of the saints never absolves you of your sins completely, it just "delays" the punishment of the wicked to give him more time to repent, but eventually he must repent and pay for his own sins.
Also Christians believe in the doctrine of original sin, that you're going to hell even if you're completely righteous, unless you have jesus save you, which of course is also completely against Judaism.

@A Sojourner You being a former Christian & accusing other Christians of using verses in the Old Testament to justify a false claim, are guilty of doing the same. Yes God warns us of following a young false prophet into idolatry (worshipping other Gods) (yes I know you understand the meaning), however the Lord, God’s Son, states there is only 1 God, His Father. God also says he must be stoned to death, not crucified. So how do you justify Jesus being that young false profit that God specifically warned us about?? Jesus clearly stated God is His Father, NOT that He Himself is God, plus He never ever, anywhere in OT inspired ANYONE to worship anyone other than Almighty God. Besides, if you don’t believe (anymore) that Jesus existed, how can you claim it indeed is Jesus that God warned us about in this passage?? This time Ms. A Sojourner, you are really contradicting yourself. God confounds those who have abandoned the Lord, His Son, our Savior

@A Sojourner Deuteronomy 13:2-3 2-If there will arise among you a prophet or a dreamer of a dream, & he gives you a sign or a wonder 3- & the sign or the wonder in which he spoke to you happens, and he says” let us go after other gods which you have not known & let us worship them” Don’t you see that God is very specific here in saying “A sign” or “A wonder” (meaning 1 sign or 1 wonder)?? So first of all, the Lord never predicted any sign or any wonder. But by the power of His Father Almighty God, did He indeed perform miracles (multiple miracles not just 1), never (A) prediction which came true after He predicted it. Second of all, the Lord NEVER ever said “let us go after other gods & worship them” & He certainly did NOT perform miracles to entice people away from Almighty God & over to other gods! If you don’t believe in the Lord ( or the NT ANYMORE), why use Deuteronomy (from the Torah) to reiterate God’s word as to warn us against Jesus?? Don’t you see this as an oxymoron?? Do you or don’t you believe Jesus existed?? You continually contradict yourself Ms. Sojourner & the bitterness in your tone NO doubt comes from your erroneous decision to abandon the Lord. I honestly can’t understand why you did, because anyone who truly loved the Lord would NEVER abandon Him. I’m sure your Christian (Catholic perhaps?) faith was not imbedded correctly into you or you would never have abandoned Him. I’m interested (genuinely) to know, if you care to share. The Questioner seems to think that riding into Jerusalem on a donkey is the complete fulfillment of the messiah. The irony is that Christianity has so badly understood this passage that it has Jesus doing a circus act simultaneously riding into Jerusalem on 2 donkeys. (See, The Jew and the Christian Missionary: A Jewish Response to Missionary Christianity by Gerald Sigal). When we have fulfillment of the messianic prerequisites specified by Isaiah and Ezekiel, it will not be debated as to who the messiah is: i.e. that person who - (i) causes nations not to make war and destroy their weapons of mass destruction; (ii) rebuilds the holy temple so that (iii) the messiah can bring a sin sacrifice on behalf of himself; (iv) destroys the wicked with the breathe of his lips; (v) acts as a righteous judge; (vi) reinstitutes the sacrificial system; and (vii) ingathers the jewish people back to Israel from the four corners of the world. Unfortunately, as Rabbi Singer has amply demonstrated, Christians are believing in a failed Messiah.
