    After I got the 'older' dishwasher taken apart, the pump filter was clogged with previous owner's dishwasher powder. Scraped out all I could, then several repeats of vinegar and baking soda brought out pieces of gunk inside the sealed units that I couldn't reach. Ran a partial cycle to verify it now drains. Thanks to your video, taking it apart was much easier than the last time I tried it!

    I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your video-it was one of half-a-dozen I watch in preparation for undertaking the cleaning of my own dishwasher. I did it today and completed the effort without any complications. It was very gunky and definitely needed cleaning. It took me 90 minutes to do but I really took my time and did a thorough job of cleaning. Thanks again!

    Saved me coin! I ran one cycle with a bleach tablet and followed through on another cycle with 2 cups of Hydrogen peroxide or 50% of a small bottle! No more standing water! I also refresh my dishwasher by placing it on cycle empty for one cycle on heat dry. Works beautifully, I did not realize pods can be problematic.

    Just today, my 12 year old Maytag wouldn't drain. Went through the manual and it was of no use. Found your video and followed your instructions. It was as easy as you showed and I was done in less than 30 min. (Though my dishwasher was a disgusting mess down there). Anyway, thanks a lot. You literally saved me the hundreds it would have cost to get a repair guy to come.

    I was hoping to be able to find a place to connect a plunger to but I could not get any suction/seal anywhere regardless of what I had assembled or disassembled. I think the drain tube itself is plugged, and the drain declogger I have won't reach far back enough. I guess I could try using a shop vac (I did this once before and it works), but it's such a huge hassle to disconnect the drain tube, attach it with tape to the vacuum, etc.

      Hmmm... Are there any screws holding it in place that you can see? If not, when you have the part lifted up with the screwdriver, try sliding it left and right, gently, but with firm pressure. That will usually do the trick without breaking anything. Let me know if that works.

    My dishwasher is a newer one with a very fine filter screen to trap sediment and particles. It has been clogging, but the clog is under the house somewhere. I have fixed it several times temporarily. First I have to pull the dishwasher from under the counter and remove the drain hose. I take an air compressor and wrap a wet paper towel around the blower nozzle attachment and make a seal tow blow out the drain hose. I'm getting tired of doing this about every third time I run the dishwasher. Maybe I will need to call a plumber, but any suggestions to prevent the clog in the first place? My sink, dishwasher and clothes washer are all close together and all drain to the septic system. The dishwasher is the only clogged appliance, though.

    My dishwasher is slow to drain, however that’s not the real problem, I think. It’s a Kenmore. Once the setting is set, regular wash or quick cycle, it won’t complete the cycle. Quick cycle was normally 36 minutes. Now it will say 56 minutes. Washer starts as normal, but at a certain point the motor keeps running, water is in the bottom, at it gets to a point where it does not continue thru the cycle. It just keeps moving the water around and never comes yo an end. It was on display 1 minute until end of cycle for more than an hour. May have a drain issue. I will check that first. I was thinking because of false numbers appearing on digital display it might be something in the electronics. Help if you can. Thanks for your previous video.

    • @thepiratehandyman2225
      @thepiratehandyman2225  3 роки тому +2

      Edna, it sounds to me like you might have an issue with the timer. If it was only the drain, it would complete the cycle as normal, but leave water in the bottom of the tub. Hate to say it, lass, but you should probably contact a local repairman. I would recommend using a service like Thumbtack, Angie's List, Task Rabbit, Home Advisor, etc., as the repairman have been vetted. Make sure you mention the Make, Model Number, and concisely describe the issue, as you did here. Sorry, lass, I wish there be an easier fix. Good luck!

      Sounds like you have a problem with a faulty back-flo stopper not being there in the dish washer or being faulty. The outlet on the pump should have a flap that prevents water flowing backwards into the dishwasher. That flap has to have torn off or ripped in some manner if your sink is backsliding and filling your dishwasher. Either that, or the valve that turns the water into your dishwasher is stuck open or partially open (maybe due to hard water deposits in you water lines).

      Aye, lass, I am very sorry for your predicament. To get to the hose, you may need to pull the dishwasher out from under the counter. First, pull off the plate on the front of the unit, at the bottom. If you can't get to the hose from there, then next, on the top front, there should be screws that go up into the underside of the counter. Remove those screws and pull the unit out from under the counter. Unplug the unit, then you should be able to the hose and see if it is clogged. If it is not clogged, the problem may be with the pump. Let me know what you find.

    Get 30% vinegar from Home Depot. Take out dishes. Pour one cup of vinegar into dish washer basin. Place another cup upright onto lower drawer. Run regular cycle. Repeat three times. Fourth time pour only baking soda into basin, no vinegar at all. This will remove sludge preventing check valve from working.

      Wow. The only other thing I can think might be causing it is a clog inside the garbage disposal. You said that you checked the hoses, so you might check to see if something is blocking the neck where the hose connects to the disposal, through to the interior of the disposal.

    Ahoy there. My wife hired a second-rate handyman to put in a new garbage disposal, now the dishwasher won't drain. I'll give it a thorough cleaning, but is it possible there is now a different problem?

      @underwaterlevelz1947 3 роки тому

      EDIT: Fixed it. Boy this guy was a real doozy. HE LEFT THE SEAL IN THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL!!!

    • @thepiratehandyman2225
      @thepiratehandyman2225  3 роки тому

      First, I would call the handyman and ask him to make good on his work! If they won't , then here's what you need to do:
      On the new garbage disposal, there is usually a tab or plug in the intake connection where the dishwasher drain hose connects. If you still have the box for the new garbage disposal, see if it describes whether or there is some type of stopper in the intake (might be in the instructions). If you don't have the box, go to the manufacturer's website and look up the instructions for that model. If you can't find anything, no worries. Unplug the disposal, place a bucket under the disposal, take the drain hose from the dishwasher off of the disposal. Tilt the hose into the bucket. Then check the intake to see if something is blocking the intake. Hopefully you won't have to take the disposal out to do this. Remove whatever is blocking the intake, then put it all back together.
      If there is nothing blocking the intake, you really should lean on the handyman to make good on the installation. If they won't, see the video on cleaning out the dishwasher drain. Let me know if any of this helps, or if you have any other questions.

    Hello Pirate, I have a question, I have a similar Dishwasher as the one you just cleaned. my problem is not draining all of the water, I've cleaned it washed the filter check the hoses etc but still the problem, do you have any idea how to solve this problem..?

    • @thepiratehandyman2225
      @thepiratehandyman2225  3 роки тому +1

      Try checking the hose that goes from the bottom of the pump (underneath the unit) that goes to the garbage disposal. That hose can sometime clog and cause the water to stay in the dishwasher. If that is not clogged, then you may need to have the pump replaced.
