I choose NOT to be on camera on Brian's channel. I'm NOT an RC aficionado, that's why it's called BrianPhillipsRC. I'm good at filming and that's what I bring here... this is my choice. If you're still extra curious, you can click on my channel just to see me.

Imagine standing near lightening with the old 3ft FM antennas!
I love my prop balancer and just spraying on water based Minwax Polycrylic on back of prop in thin layers until balanced (Dries quick but it lightens a bit so it always takes one extra hit). Spinner balancer is always a pain.

You guys have one awesome channel ! Love your in depth videos, and by the way, they are not too long. You are a great teacher with the ability to keep everything so interesting. I may not comment very much, but I have watched what seems countless videos and haven't seen any that were anything but over the top great. I'm sure I'm not the only one with those kind of feelings either. We need your channel, please keep up the great work. Thank you guys so so much.

Thanks so much! It's reassuring to hear that you think so. I try very hard to strike a balance between fully informative and extreme boredom...tough when you aren't 100% sure who the audience will be.

Well, rain is usually an "oops" but the rest - yes ;) It's like all the things that the RC prudes would say is "irresponsible" as though we don't carry insurance (...the real insurance that actually pays...unlike AMA - LOL) and we don't own the property - LOL - I had a guy complaining about flying over and under power lines...the ones we bought and paid for. Too bad we can't "vote" these type of RC'ers "off the island" [sorry, Survivor reference, if it wasn't totally clear]

We spend the next day helping a friend clean up from significant storm damage :(... but there were homes on the way FLATTENED....like GONE....and debri fields crossing the 4 lane (imagine interstate) bypass highway. It was pretty incredible. 100+ foot tall trees...while groves cut in a line like a giant monster truck just went off roading right thought them!

They sure are! It's a real bummer though, 7 people got killed in these storms Saturday, then a bunch of houses destroyed....then it SNOWED the next evening into Monday morning - what a bummer.
We survived, and usually most of us do, but this system had a ton of big tornadoes coming out of it...and one hit about less than a quarter mile away from where another tornado had destroyed my teenage home!!!

Yep, 7 people, and one family was here visiting their folks, and half of them were killed - really sad, and RARE too that we have loss of life. This was an EF4...BIG one. We were sparred, but spend most of Sunday (the next day) helping our friends that got hit...and their parents, who were in Texas due to some medical complications, they lost a part of their garage, and HUGE amount of trees...like 10 feet wide, oak trees, twisted like a bath towel!

Just started to put the plane together because the batteries just showed up last night. You're correct about the screw misalignment with mating the fuselage halves. I've used your trick before with fixing issues like that by lightly forcing an alignment. Unfortunately mine is pretty far off and I'll be sanding the nose side. The problem appears to be that the plastic reinforcement, on the tail side, is indented just enough to cause the problem. That's a minor production fix I believe.

being a Californian and seeing how little your reaction is to that storm is INSAINE. Recently you've probably heard that we have had some really bad storms, for California standards at least we've had towns flood and trees fall but that just looks fatal! Love your content man keep it up!

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Рік тому +1

We see storms like this all the time. It's just part of our way of life...and we need the rain, so it's a win win, unless you're trapped under a bus that got thrown into your house...or your neighbors barn rolls through your yard, and hits the garage...or whatever...these things happen too, thus we have insurance to help offset our risk. My parent's house was hit by and destroyed by a tornado while they were in it. They were fine, since we have basements, and they had a stairway the were under for the duration of the event. They maxed out the insurance policy, so when you get a home and if you have the risk, get home owners insurance, and never miss a payment ;)

Gotta say a few things as an rc friend getting back in. first plane was 28mhz 2 channel powered glider. simple turn on transmitter hold it up and switch on motor ( flat out or dead stick landings.) Rudder and elevator. using that old stuff for a sail boat now. Oh yeah I'm 60 and stormy here. Screwed up on a motor /prop test on test rig by prop tips not painted ,so reaching under, to feel the esc thumb and prop on the three blade took off some skin and 1 bade. Ouch and tears. Fixed the prop with a couple of drops of ca to hold blade and then used some stuff I make myself. Old cd covers dissolved in Cellulose paint thinner (car Paint thinner). drip that on and it welds plastic to plastic. Join is as strong as original but let it wait over night.

Just bought the Trekker and just like Brian has shown, it's a well engineered plane. I wanted something reasonably sturdy to train our grandchild to fly. Just started to assemble it today and will be using a Spektrum 6 channel receiver and my NX 10 & 6 transmitters in a buddy-box setup. Here's my question: Has anyone used a 3200 - 30C - 3S 11.1 battery in this plane?
I don't have anything smaller than that, just larger. I'll buy a couple of the little guys if I have to but would like to avoid adding to my growing collection.

You can if you get the PNP and then outfit the plane with an AR630 (link is in the video description for both).
When you get a PNP (plug and play) you provide the Transmitter (in your case the DX6e) and the Receiver, the AR630 from above, and then you setup the plane on the radio system.
As for the RTF - you would have to get a RTF that's in DSMX (or DSM2) to work. This is the protocol that the Transmitter and Receiver use to "speak" to each other. The Treckker is not DSMX.

Camera crew and Brian's better half how often are you tempted to give him a quick dig in the ribs with straight fingers.
Is he as much a perfectionist and is he a peddent I get the feeling he could be.
My miss's now in a better place was very good at catching me just right, I do not have a YT channel being in witness protection makes it not the best idea.
Flying in a storm not smart I have had a 5th gas hit by lightning right on the titanium exhaust turned a lovely colour never able to repeat as it had a spiders web type design but with colour changes as it fans out.

@@BrianPhillipsRC Friend has largescale gas and it was struck by lightening thought it was going to crash and burn but he managed to glide it in and land really thought it was going to be fried it started back up as if nothing had happened apart from the fantastic strike pattern on the titanium exhaust. Just wondered about the dig in the ribs because listening to you two is how my wife and I were her mother used to get fed up as we never stopped talking and playing around teasing etc. Brings happy memories think I may have said this before she was sixty me sixty just retired 2017 looking to enjoy retirement.

Sadly this video has placed me in a real awkward position. Since viewing, my young son now thinks its acceptable for him to fly during storms. Difficult to understand why Mr Phillips would put out such a production, knowing that young pilots may be watching.
