    Great video Brian an awesome filming by Megan. I got the GlaStar today in the mail. And indeed it is one the nicest kits around. Your crash convinced me to get it to train my Grandson.
    I'm already adding flaps in the wing. It will fly with Safe/As3X i'm using the NX8. Student will be on my DX18. I don't plan on anything bigger than 3S or 4S 2200/3200mA Smart packs.
    Normally not a foamy pilot, mostly woody gliders and Antique gas planes. Love all of your video's, they are the best. I like Megan's comments all the time. So far you made me get 2 planes,
    also have the Conscendo Evolution but removed the AR637TA, did not like it in that glider, flies way better now.
    Well, keep them coming, You both must have a busy schedule doing all that great work. Cheers.

    I have love the Glasair full scale plane!! Cool to see a model!! Now my advice is not to use “flaperons” when they are this far out on the tips. If you do anything make them go the other direction “spoilerons”and that will not only make it pitch up into a draggier attitude and it will make the wing less prone to stall. Start out with a small amount and you will be amazed at how much slower you can go and still have control!!

    I wound up buying one of these based on your review in this video. Unfortunately the source provided in your link was out of stock so I ordered directly from xfly-model. That said, I was comparing it to the pa-18 super cub, and performance wise, I think this plane wins... The super cub only has a 750 kV motor and even at 4S, the prop speed matches this plane at 3S. Now what was never mentioned is this plane is rated for 2-4S. This thing would rock with a 4S pack. xfly is making some really nice products at a great price.

    Do Dynam send you planes to review? You are so rude about them lol. if not, why do you continue to buy their planes?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 роки тому

      We are truthful about any company that doesn't listen to years and years of complaints and constructive criticism (not that ALL of my "jabs" are particularly constructive - I get it.
      Please hear me right when I say, we love bitgohobby and they have been working hard to support us as we grow too. We want nothing but the best for them, and some of the other great companies that sell Dynam too. Our issue is that Dynam is not willing to fix known issues after repeated feedback from people in the industry. Keep in mind, I'm just one of many...maybe one of the more "direct" ones, and maybe one of the more "Free to speak their mind" of those people in the industry. I only include myself in this class of "people in the industry" because we do work with several companies, and I have contact with many of our piers and/or competitors - we talk about stuff occasionally ;)
      That being said, Dynam does so much right, that it really pains me to use them as a punching bag like we do....not enough to stop, but they could fix such small issues, and have such a GREAT product. For us, Dynam has become an easy way to showcase the strengths of OTHER brands, like the up-and-coming XFly, or Horizon Hobby, or even companies like Eachine, or XK, that seemingly keep outdoing themselves. The difference, is a corporate mentality to make constant improvements in a FAST evolving industry. Also, we feel that Dynam, while they do make A PLANE, they just don't really make it that well. Sure YOU, as the consumer, can fix their mistakes, but if you buy 5 Dynam's, you'll have 5 different failures. This has been pretty much our experience, so we do share it, and help our viewers to shape their opinions of the brand based on OUR experience. This is not to say that there have been no good experienced with Dynam...I too have had some good experiences with Dynam, and we try to highlight them when we do reviews of their product, but unlike some of our counterparts on UA-cam (You probably know who I'm talking about..."BEST, BIGGEST, FASTEST, CHEAPEST,6S,etc" - All hype and no substance), we feel we have a strong obligation to bring you all the facts, and maybe some of the hype for fun - we love this stuff too, as you know!!!
      Anyway, I appreciate your concern, but do find it a bit strange that you didn't pick up on this through the context of our extremely lengthy videos, as I know you've been with us for many moons ;) We really appreciate you Moira, and hope you don't take offense, even if you LOVE Dynam. I especially want you to know that even if and when we might disagree about a specific finding, we REALLY appreciate you being a part of our experience. You have been a great addition in our little family here on UA-cam.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 роки тому

      Oh, I realized in my reply I didn't answer your question - YES Dynam sends these planes, but NOT directly...we work with Bitgohobby, so THEY send us the planes. When we talked to the ownership there, at the beginning of our relationship, we reminded them that we would share our real findings, and they encouraged us to be 100% honest! This was a huge turn on for us. We want to be as fair as we can be to Bitgohobby, since they are a distributor, not the MFG. They know working with us is a way to build credibility with their prospective customers, but they also know that we will share the bad stuff too. I firmly believe this is why MotionRC.com and Hobbyzone.com WON'T work with us. They are concerned about us sharing the truth - very strange. I thought very highly of, and also had great luck with MotionRC years back (several products and items purchased)...but I guess things have changed???
      Anyway, probably more answer than you wanted or needed. Thanks for being here with us!

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  Рік тому +1

      Flapperons (outboard, like on this one) are more about adding drag for landings in my personal experience, but FULL LENGTH Flapperons, would be used exactly like flaps, so for takeoff and landings. I think outboard flapperons are somewhat self-defeating in takeoff situations, since they're less effective than true inboard flaps.
