The way Moe treats Bart reminds me of bar staff when my dad would take us to the pub to watch football. There is a sense of reality especially giving him the chocolates bar at the end.
Moe is great with kids. He also has a strong connection with maggie in another episode. He also reads books to children at the hospital. Aside his illegal side hustle and being bad with women, he has a good heart.
As a kid, I remember thinking Bart was going to get busted for his crank calls since Moe says "I know that voice." But this turned into a rather sweet and funny scene and I loved it and I still love it now. Especially when Bart stamps Mr. Burns' foot. 😆
There's a theory, that Moe knows its Bart who prank calls him, but he plays along to cheer Bart up. The reason being, that Moe knows that Bart must have it rough at home, seeing as Homer is almost always in his Bar. But yes, sweet scene overall
@@Strathias28 But if that's the case: why would Moe make all those awful threats back at Bart? If Moe was playing along, wouldn't he tell Bart something like "No Jock Strap here" or "There doesn't seem to be anyone here called Al Coholic."? Not a very convincing theory.
I think Moe’s bark is worse than his bite. We saw him try to carry out his threat once when Bart framed Jimbo Jones in the next season. More was going, “I wasn’t really going to kill you, I was just going to cut you a little…….ah gee…..just forget it.” I think too he just does it to show the bar his pride so they won’t think he’s a wimp.
Love how Mr Burns immediately went and bought the plant back half price just to hire Homer back so he could be a nasty boss to him again. This is one of the best episodes imo it also has the land of chocolate song
Geez, that's the most brutal time Homer ever put Mr. Burns in his place. Sure he did some a few times in later episodes (Not that often) but that was far more savage than ever! I can't remember this at all. Maybe it's because they made so many episodes that it's hard to remember them all.
Haven’t you noticed Burns is a cheapskate? He only liked Homer on one episode because he had hair with no thoughts on IQ level. Remember that dumb luck Homer had pressing the button to stop the meltdown? He did it with the “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe”.
Not entirely. There are over 714 employees there who are considered “incompetent”. Homer probably just didn’t compose himself properly in front of the new owners upon their inquiry with him.
Was just about to point that out, unless this scene was before mr smithers was cannon allergic to bees and he delevoped a allergic reaction to them, this breaks logic
That's several seasons after this. Often times bee allergy can be caused by a sting, so maybe these stings are what gives him the allergy that he talks about in 22 short films about springfield.
Whenever he sees this scene my father starts telling me stories of when he was a kid, when all the kids of the neighborhood were sent to bring drunk fathers\uncles home; and they did love do it, because they had so much fun in pranking those poor devils on the way.
Mr. Burns: Letter? I don't Recall any..... Bart: That's because I Forgot to STAMP IT! (Stomps Mr. Burns' Foot) Homer, Moe and the Other Bar customers Laughing.
Homer lost his job because of incompetence not because Burns sold the plant. But that’s a sad reality where these types of people blame someone else lol
I thought Smithers was allergic to bees? In that episode where they do the 22 short stories. Smithers and Burns ride that bike and Smithers gets stung by a bee. Also it's been said here but I dislike Homer in this episode. He blames Mr Burns for losing his job, despite showing the Germans how childish and incompetent he is. Going off into little own world for 10 minutes and suggesting that machines should take old dollars instead of actually answering the question about safety ideas.
I think they made it that way so you could feel sympathy for Mr Burns, who at that point in Simpsons history was the personification of the greedy corporate leader.
I think it's a cultural difference, I have Japanese and Irish friends who remember being sent 2-3 blocks from home to the bar to get a drunk dad or uncle before they were even 10, and even some similar stories in my own family (Mexican).
Mr Burns sold the nuclear plant to the Germans. Smithers still works there so he says ‘Sector Sieben Gruben’ instead of ‘Sector 7G’ out of force of habit
The way Moe treats Bart reminds me of bar staff when my dad would take us to the pub to watch football. There is a sense of reality especially giving him the chocolates bar at the end.
What seniors in the chocolate bars is that in the full episode
Did you get molested by the local wino there as a boy?
I love the interactions between moe and bart it's adorable
Yep
Moe is great with kids. He also has a strong connection with maggie in another episode. He also reads books to children at the hospital. Aside his illegal side hustle and being bad with women, he has a good heart.
I love moe has the same five people at the bar and he's always asking if someone is there
Better love story than Twilight
I love it
Back when a scene could actually last a few minutes without jump cuts and a sudden celebrity guest star appearing
Back when The Simpsons had really great writers...that's the difference!

@@VanillaLimeCoke Good point, Moe relents when he sees how scared Jimbo is, perhaps Moe thinks that’s punishment enough.
“What good is money if you can’t inspire terror in your fellow man? I’ve got to get my plant back!”
Never noticed where Smithers accidentally starts referring to Homer’s old sector in its new German name then stops himself. Great touch.
Thanks for that. Out of context, I didn't get that joke.

it was homers incompetence to perform at work that got him fired if anything mr burns was the best boss homer could ever ask for.

Actually Mr. Burns needed a dumb safety inspector to avoid all the cost associated to bring it up to code. Homer plays this role just nicely.
Suspicious that smithers didn't have an allergic reaction since he is allergic to bees! Mr,. Smithers has be replaced..... By a bodysnatcher! 😨😂

I'm just gonna chalk it up to his body being so old, it forgot that it was allergic to bees.

Considering Mo's customers are always drinking there they sure are switched on. Barney's intellect was shining through that joke.
One of my fave scenes, Homer owns a Tyrant , Genius moment
"I'm not your buddy, you greedy old reptile!"
It’s incredible I’ve missed this until today 🥶
This made me feel sorry for poor Mr. Burns.
I just realized how casual Smithers is around Mr. Burns’ bees given that he’s deathly allergic to them.
"Mrs. O'Problem" I love how in spite of the title, Moe still wants to find a Mrs. among his male patrons.
