      Carl was a true friend...he sacrificed himself when Homer was about to be fired. He took a bullet for him so he can survive..not caring about his own well being. Maybe the world would be a better place if there were more people like him in it.

      Carl evokes a good feeling. Add that to the writing and seeing Homer happy with hair makes you to get hooked on the writing when Homer is going to get discovered and all that.

      Just imagine how much more powerful Scorpio and Homer could have been if Karl was there with them, helping them get that power plant operational so they could take over the East Coast. Homer definitely would have become owner of the Dallas Cowboys in that scenario.

    Karl was amazing, such a chad. He managed to reshape Homer, change him into a better person, and someone who could think like a corporate manager and stay at the top of his life. The moment he threw that umbrella to Homer, his mission was complete.

      Also the reason his life changed was his aesthetics, and no one even realized that's why they treated him differently. People assume that your work ethic and people skills are what nets you a better life, but statistically having a full head of hair and being taller than average both increase your chances of higher pay and a higher position. Nearly every US president has had a full head of hair. Average male CEO height is well above control, and personally when I was younger after I spent a couple years in the gym and was very fit and strong, the difference in how people treated me was astounding. I was still shy, awkward and self conscious, but it was seen as mysterious and reserved instead of pathetic or creepy. Gifts, food, invites, favors, holding the door, etc. It just kinda taught me that we're still animals and regardless of what we think, we still respond to the health and fitness of each other.

    Karl was more than just a man with a deep, gravelly voice, and a nice suit - he was a true paladin in a suit. He took Homer under his wing and helped reshape him into a person with integrity and confidence, and stood by his side all the way to the end. The best friend Homer Simpson has ever had.

      Well, the Simpsons (and futurama) has expressed on several episodes.
      The formula is that at the end of every episode, things always goes back to what it was. Since the viewers don't actually like change.

    Man... it's a shame we didn't get to see homer live this better life that Karl helped him achieve. Homer being able to provide for his family again made him a happier man. Would have been cool if Karl made a return arc.

    This is one of the best episodes because it shows how facile and luck-based financial success is. Homer is still stupid when he grows his hair back, but suddenly becomes an executive over things totally unrelated to his job performance. Pretty on point

    This was an excellent cut, but had it been just 2 seconds longer, we'd have caught Karl's legendary single *'sneeze'* as he walked away in the rain. That little detail was just one of the things that made the early seasons of The Simpsons the best!

    So one of the reasons I really like this clip, I was losing my hair, although never went as bald as Homer, but I got the hair transplant and things really started happening all around me. I really can relate to Homer in these scenes. People like a man with hair.
