    Nice to see some reasonably priced EDC knives coming to Walmart that are going to be a huge improvement over the $6 mystery Steel knives. For $30 those seem pretty decent. I'll definitely grab one when they become available. Thanks for the outstanding video.

    I know this post is old, but I was at my local Walmart a few months ago and a sporting goods associate at the knife case highly recommended the wurtdig and said he loves it, well I didn't purchase it and thought on it then now a few days ago I went back and they now have the carbon fiber gerundet and I'm impressed the details on this knife and absolutely no blade play at all and the handle on the gerundet feels more comfortable to me then the wurtdig. I'm still thinking on purchasing this knife for $30 what a steal.. feels like over a $100 knife

    That is pretty exciting news. There are something like 8 Wal-Marts in my area, and pretty much all but one of them have been neglecting their knife selection until it dwindles to basically nothing over the last few years. Most of them just have a handful of Ozark Trail knives and maybe two cheap Kershaws if you’re lucky haha.
    So if even a few of them start stocking these it will make a huge difference in what choices they’re giving people. I might buy one or two as impulse buys, which I’m a lot more likely to do than order online from WM. But more than anything, I like that I can recommend them to any of my friends who are maybe interested in getting a knife, but who don’t know anything and are otherwise likely to pick up a gas station knife or an Ozark Trail and think it’s the best thing available at a reasonable price.

    Thank you for a really good video. I'm glad that these are coming to Walmart and affordable for the average guy. There's too many people doing reviews on $100plus knives and gear because they get kickbacks. It's nice to see a video like this on items that won't break the average guy's bank.

    I guess I predict failure, ultimately.
    The price point is too high. These seem to start at $25 and run to about $40, for the most part. People are pretty happy with their OT knives for $12 or less. And if they make the jump to the ST price, I'm thinking they're going to want something that's either better at THAT price point, or will be willing to go another $5-$10 for a brand that has a better rep in the knife world than a company mostly known for making cheap - but not cheaper than Walmart brands - synthetic clothing.
    And I think that's where the problem is. They're cheap, but not as cheap as OT. They may be good, but not as good as what you can get at that price from other, better known brands. Where, exactly, does that position you in the market?

    Just what they need, another Chinese made line to sell.
    Right now minus the couple Case models some walmarts might carry ( it's uncommon) Walmart has 3 American made Buck models and maybe still the Gerber prodigy.
    No leatherman, no American made Gerber multitools, they're becoming one of the worst places to buy knives.

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  Рік тому +1

      Walmart is a huge cooperation and has too many stores to stock American made goods, besides the prices being so high on US goods US companies dont make the volume chinese companies do which plays a big role, lets say Walmart wants to actually sell a US made folder thanks $75, they might need a flow of 300,000 monthly for all their stores...the company who makes them just cant make them that fast...its not always about money its about availability so they can make the money lol I love american made stuff becasue im patriotic and like to support my home country and our industry BUT in the last decade or so its been shown time and time again US made stuff will cost more for the exact same quality level as something made somewhere else...So people think they are paying more for the better quality but they are just paying more to support the uS and some are fine with that some just dont understand thats why it costs more its not necessarily better..

    • @TylerSnyder305
      @TylerSnyder305 Рік тому +2

      @@cutlerylover Walmart actually stocks loads of American made goods.
      Every year around the 4th they sell American made patriotic T shirts, most of their mainstays brands plastic cooking utensils bowls, storage containers...ect are American made.
      Plastic toolboxes, plastic Ammo cans, rubbermaid and sterilite plastics , they've sold American made sandals, they sell American made striking cap handle pry bars ( made by WILDE ),they used sell a decent selection of Vaughan & Budhnell hammers, and the V&B / dasco pry bars and punches...etc, Stanley utility knives,they can and do sell American made goods.
      I'm just wondering why they dropped leatherman multitools right around the time they decided to instead sell a leatherman knockoff under their Ozark Trail brand ?
      The Leatherman bond and the wingman or sidekick aren't particularly expensive.
      They stopped carrying the OKC 499 pilot survival knife.
      The Buck bantam is under $25, the Bucklite max series fixed blades are very inexpensive too.
      They can do it if they want to, but they'd rather just sell a cutrate Chinese alternative unless it's something like plastic goods that are actually cheaper to source from here than to bring over from china.

    Liked and Subscribed... I have purchased eight of the Gerundet two tone Green & Black models for gifts because I liked the first one that I bought so much!
    (Item Number 6794)
    Thanks for your review. I will have to try some more of the models that they offer.
