I have just run across some info from the designer of this tool that explains the gap in the pliers is a part of the design. I plan to release a video tomorrow discussing pros and cons of this feature.
I appreciate the reply... I'm not sure, it let me checkout... I'm hoping that they end up shipping it to me... If I knew how to contact the seller, I'd offer to pay for shipping if necessary...
Thanks for watching. As someone pointed out the wire stripper pliers may be gapped on purpose like linesman pliers. Also I made a video about AliExpress selling essentially the Klein multi tool with strippers just without Klein's logo. It's I think under $20 and really has beefy pliers.
I do like the concept behind this multitool, it's probably the first flip side pliers that can fold. But I believe there is ways to make such a tool better despite being a bit bulky. Now consider 'better' in my own opinion and view, not everyone will agree. But I believe this can be compact for what it is and what it can do.
That is a very interesting tool. The stripper side not closing completely would be similar to lineman's pliers, that have a gap such as not to crush the wires.
@@hvacbudget8600definitely on purpose, the wire strippers meet perfectly and are on the same jaws. They would have had to mess up really bad to have high precision an inch away from super low tolerance.
I own two leatherman's including the original Wave which is over 25 years by now. I have the Swisstech 18in1. Quality is not too bad, not as good as the Leatherman but is acceptable. And looking at your video (thanks for it) it seems it's another great value for money. Interestingly, I can get it cheaper at only ~US$40 in the Philippines at Lazada.
This is cool but needs refinement. I wouldn't have a need for the electrician's plier head though. A full-size scissors head would be nice as a alternative though!
as an electrican this fantastic for the size it's like dream come true to me me, maybe the quality not that great but there are absolutely nothing like that, thanks for the review
Interesting tool! Looks like a Leatherman and SOG married, then one had an affair with a Flip Grip tool!! :) I know some will not remember the Flip Grip multitool, but I am going to keep my eyes peeled for this on Amazon!
Great concept. Looks like it needs some quality control though. I’d really like to see a similar system to this but with scissors instead of wire strippers.
Well, it’s a start! Up the fit and finish and we’ve got a cool tool! I know I’ve said it till you’re probably sick of hearing it, but adding a good wire stripper to a good multi tool has always been a wish for me. SwissTech is on the right track, but definitely needs better fit and finish. 👍🏻
Here it is!! i asked about this on one of your shorts and i guess you HAVE seen it already 🤣 They definitely should have made the decision to forgo with the wire cutters on the plier end
LoL. Just actually got them today! So several people have mentioned the pliers gap on the one side might be intentional. I think I'll have to test this out a bit more. These just arrived today so these are initial impressions. We'll see how they work. Thanks for watching!
For me, less is more. I like the idea of having everything but often it just doesn’t deliver on expectations so stick with what you know works. I’d like to see a wave + where you can pick out what tool you needed that would fit already in its design.
Seems like a splendid idea. A Fishing tool that fits the bit holder. An additional blade that has the same 1/4 LM insert. Wow. You gave me a lot of ideas that I can work on. I think a vic hook can be modified to be a fish hook add on for wave or surge, likewise for a couple of blades. And insulation sheaths for arms.
Swiss+tech kick out Leatherman mr. Crunch and Sog as well. Ahahah (I'm not an electrician) I've seen Channellock with the same gap between teeth. According to what electricians have said in reviews and comments, that space is used to firmly grasp the cables without tightening them too much It seems that some electrical cables should not be "squeeze". Or maybe that pliers is only defective🤷♂️
The electricians here are saying the head maybe should be made that way so it doesn't pinch wire, so I may try to reach out to swisstech for more info on that.
@@hvacbudget8600 i am a retired electrician and it should have offset teeth but if it needs that to not pinch the wire is still a design flaw either way! p.s. i love it and will definitely buy one if they fix it . cant wait to hear what ST has to say.
This electrician's toolkit is truly distinctive, akin to a Swiss army knife for electricians. One standout feature is the inclusion of an electrician's knife, which adds a layer of versatility to the toolkit. However, there is room for improvement to elevate it to the status of an indispensable electrician's companion tool, in my professional opinion. Here are a few suggestions for enhancements: - Incorporate a fiberglass Fish Stick, facilitating seamless wire retrieval in distribution boxes. - Consider the inclusion of a high-quality crimper for added functionality. - Explore the possibility of an attachable flashlight, enhancing visibility in low-light environments. - Introduce an insulation sleeve add-on, providing an ergonomic solution for extended use. By addressing these aspects, this toolkit could become an unparalleled asset for electricians across various domains.
I think Knipex should make the electrician multitool. They are already expert in dedicated electrician's tools. Maybe they can do a featuring with Victorinox.
Most strippers pliers don't meet together. Why would they need to when you are mostly just using it to grab and bend wire or poke out a knockout. This tool looks like it would be a good host frame for an interesting custom tool. I do like how it has the better of the bit drivers. I really don't get the angled bit driver that's so popular in the wave clones. I would have liked to see maybe a crimper implemented. Or if they were going with a electrician specific multitool maybe a stripper head on one side and a pair of diagonal cutters on the other.
I got one for myself. The idea is to have this in the electric troubleshooting part of my bag as a redundancy catch all. When I get it I will probably turn the file into a prytool/scrapper, and I might do something with the saw implement as the saw won't be used otherwise, perhaps turn it into a long micro screwdriver/tweaker? Once I get it if you decide to do another review later down the line of this tool I will comment as to how mine has worked out.
I'm wondering why no manufacturer put those wire strippers like how many chinese tools put scissors. What i mean by this is tools like roxon storm, and alikes. Because you have a somewhat thin layer for tools like scissors, wire strippers/cutters, scissor plier, cable cutter, etc..
Leatherman is a great choice. Gerber still makes several multi tools in the US and Utica does make the Kutmaster in New York as well. Unfortunately that's all I know of that are designed and made in the US.
I feel like all tool in this swisstech sacrifice just to pliers feature. Full hex driver are cool, boxcutter, scissors mb too, but i hate see how people coping design just because someone done this before - couple of blades, what actually don’t nee so much. I really waiting for bladeless multitool, bc most people who in EDC have good knife, and i see no case to put 3 more in multitool. Give me good file, some sort of brass scraper, or awl( I really find one in old-style sailor knife) not for sewing, just to make holes. Mb i will happy to see alternative knife like segment blades in multitool, but not this staff.
So the Roxon Phantom, Goat multi tool, blade less Leatherman Rebar or blade less Gerber MP600 might be what you're looking for. These all allow you an extra or more tools for those who always EDC a knife. Even SOG sells parts for a couple of it's tools that allow for easy swapping.
I don't know anyone that uses pliers to grab something as thin as paper so I really don't see an issue with them. Seems purely a cosmetic issue and not a function issue.
Don't judge this too harshly until you compare it to a few other pairs. If you bought this off Ali Express or Alibaba it's likely a knock off. Not necessarily but they're notorious for this.
Is it just me or does he seem to be trying to find something wrong with it before even trying the feature? I mean, a review channel is supposed to be a review channel. You're supposed to get a tool, try it out, and then give your feedback I've watched several of his videos and in other videos with other brands he does exactly that, but not when it comes to the Swiss Tech products. Of the reviews I've seen he seems to be searching for reasons to dislike it instead of just testing the product. I don't know how to put it into words what I'm trying to say but if you don't like a company, don't test them, no one's making you. And if you'd rather not give a brand the recognition or exposure then don't. It's just been odd to watch you start to call out a product feature for not working only to have it then work on camera then you're stuck with saying "Oh, I guess it did work." Or maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there and if so I apologize. I am certainly not beyond being wrong, I make plenty of mistakes every day of my life. Anyway, Happy New Year!! 🎇🎆🎉🎉🎆🎇🥂🍻

Good way to tell if there is any extra leverage is to try to see if there if plierheads are moving "slower" than handles.

For electrical work I always use Swiss tech 17 in 1 or Daicamping dl12. and I wouldn't want to change any of them for this.
