Viewers and creators aren't the customer. The advertisers are. So if it helps get more advertisers, then that's the direction they will go. And it must help ad revenue to be overly conservative with censorship, so that's what they will do. When 1 creator leaves, 10 more will be their to fill their place.

Me too. I’m not even against some censorship on a platform like UA-cam. Ad revenue is a necessary evil for free content. But it’s really out of hand on UA-cam. People are still censoring themselves for saying Covid-19! A thing I don’t even think they need to do anymore. But see the bigger problem is a lack of understanding about what to censor. Without that, people censor everything to be safe.

My question to Neal would be this: the single most common complaint I hear from content creators is that UA-cam just straight up _does not communicate_ with its creators; major updates are dropped without warning, people who’ve had their channels suddenly taken down are left waiting for an explanation that never comes, and even the points of contact specifically hired to bridge the gap between the company and the creators remain largely in the dark and unable to resolve even the most basic of issues.
How can we trust that UA-cam has the best interests of its users at heart when it has thus far adamantly refused to be even remotely transparent with us?

UA-cam has zero incentive to work WITH creators on the development of this platform. They’re the only game in town after all, so why should they feel any pressure to kowtow to the users with only added complications on their end and little return to show for it?
Consumer goodwill is meaningless when you’re already at the top. You’re going to keep using it; creators are going to keep working around whatever dumb decisions they make; and investors are going to keep collecting their cheques.
When a rival platform emerges to challenge UA-cam’s uncontested reign over digital content, then (and only then) will they come to the negotiating table.

Not really a question but some feature suggestions for Neal:
    1. Automatic A/B thumbnail testing where you can upload multiple thumbnails on a video and UA-cam automatically tests which gets the highest click through and picks that thumbnail as default.
    2. When you upload a short that has music already, automatically match it to a sound instead of marking it as copyright infringement. IG does this and it’s so nice.
    3. Improve UA-cam live chat, it moves too fast and is hard to read. You have to use Truffle to fix it. Make live chat show username handles instead. If the user isn't watching live, their chat message shouldn't show up in the live chat. It ruins the experience seeing people chat about something that isn't currently happening.

PLEASE bring up the whole advertiser issues that have been going on.
UA-cam Kids is a COMPLETELY separate platform (if not, it should be), so they need to understand that they should not be overly censoring the regular UA-cam, as it should be the adult version of the platform. They will lose creators over this kinda ridiculous stuff--and don't let them tell you it's not "advertiser-friendly" because ads have always run for things like Adult Swim, Family Guy, South Park, etc.
As for things like triggering topics, in particular, as long as they put the trigger warning disclaimer before the video, that should be sufficient and not grounds for automatic demonetization. On that note, they should allow streamers to put it in the moment they realize something on their stream would be triggering and give them time to put that warning up if it accidentally happens so that future viewers will at least get that warning.
Furthermore, say, for instance, if someone wants to talk about their experience with things like SA and DV--even their stories can get demonetized if they don't word things extra carefully or edit the video greatly. Like, I have PTSD from watching my late fiancée in the process of dying, and I've come to accept that triggers are oftentimes unpredictable/unavoidable; however, it'd be very difficult for me to talk about it on YT because they'd want everything censored to such a degree that it could potentially defeat the purpose of wanting to help others not go through similar things or learn how to cope with similar traumas. Part of the whole appeal of YT is that it feels like more of a personable experience with creators, and reality is not all sunshine and rainbows.
UA-cam's censorship has gotten so out of hand that--hell, I've seen doll repaint artist have to cover up DOLL PARTS, games with excessive gore and heavy/real topics get removed/highly edited, and more that ultimately get demonetized even retroactively, which can destroy many channels if they don't manage to get enough alternate streams of income coming in.
Side note: I would like to also bring up that creators should also be allowed to use copywritten music so long as they provide links/credit to the original source. It's free advertisement for the musicians.

The music would likely need to be between the current system and your suggestion. If used it could count as a listen towards their song on UA-cam music or an official music video. The artists would have to agree to it to some degree and many would want to get paid something.
All of the topics you’ve mentioned should be changed for the better.

Not sure, but it would be nice to be able to use whatever while still allowing the artist to be paid without jumping through hoops to try to get all the legal permissions and stuff each time.

My number one thing to ask Neal would be if he is going to try and solve the problem where mixed media companies copyright claim entire back catalogues of videos without actually owning anything in them, and essentially hold creators hostage, freezing their income and putting their account in jeopardy.
Most recent example I can think of was Eckhart's Ladder. The only way to 'solve' these situations has been tweeting about it and complaining at YT's twitter account.
Wish they'd try and address it.

I’d love to hear what he plans on doing with the current demonetization system and the way UA-cam handles video appeals. Demonetization has been negatively effecting the gaming world of UA-cam for years, and for smaller creators, getting your video re-monetized can be a huge pain, if it is even possible. It appears to many that UA-cam cares more about their bottom line staying big than making sure videos that violate the guidelines get removed while videos that don’t stay up

I tried to agree with you yesterday when you were talking about this live, when you said people's reactions were "low IQ" I said they were dumb takes because he was working directly on features and directions with Susan already, I wrote it too short hand, I think it was taken as calling your take dumb and I got timed out, so I apologise for that, and if I had to ask Neil any questions I would say 3 things.
    1. Open the entire conversation saying, "Hey, are you about to make major changes and completely swap the course of UA-cam that Susan had?" that way people can calm down and see a plan.
    2. When it comes to Livestreaming the major reason (when polling 5000 Small Streamers) the majority stay on Twitch seems to be because of community tools like Channel Points, etc, is UA-cam considering anything like that?
    3. One of the most pressing issues on UA-cam other than copyright abuse, is honestly the comment section, almost no other platform has the issue that the comments on UA-cam has with spam bots, fake accounts, and scams. UA-cam has added a few features, but can't seem to stop the flow of bots, is there anything new coming to help creators?

If you are doing good, removing CEO tanks stock price, if bad, removing CEO improves stock price. She is responsible for the most changes, make no mistake. She was the one approving demonetization models, algorythm that destroyed short video creators or dislike removal. Board is people that are sitting on multiple boards and have no clue about inner workings of the company. What I'd like to know is: Is there a way for small creators to spread out their "test" views over the course of the day or the week. I don't like having to research the exact right time of day/week to release my shorts video. It is clear from my analytics that UA-cam only lets viewers "pull" my video to them for about 20-60 minutes shortly after it is released. (I'd say, "UA-cam pushes my video to user's shorts feed for only 20-60 minutes" but the YT blog posts imply that they like to think of the algorithm the reverse of the way I do.)
When I finish making a short in the middle of the night US time, if I release it immediately, it gets 200-2000 views for exactly 40 minutes, or maybe 60 if those first viewers liked it taking it to 7K views, or as little as 20 minutes if the first viewers didn't like it, and then it gets near-zero more views. Most of the US audience sleeps through the entire time when my video is test-added to people's shorts feed. I feel as though US viewers would enjoy the content more than those in Indonesia, but Indonesia and the Philippines are the places where my videos are most popular because when I first started releasing shorts, it was prime time there, so my subs are there.
Those viewers are really not liking my MrTechnodad content, which is distinctly different from my prior content and unlikely to persist, yet, it's still awesome and the most likely thing to get me to that 90M, but I can't change that test audience of existing subs.
Once YT thinks it's locked in who my audience is, it's hard to change that.

Question #2: Comment moderators - It would be nice for a creator to be able to give comment moderators power to ban/hide entire channels, the same power channel editors have, without having to give them the level of trust that giving them editor privs requires.
Right now moderators can only ban spam comments one at a time, not hide the whole account. It's incredible tedious if you mod a large channel, but the channel owner doesn't trust you enough to give you editor privileges. (Which is very understandable from their perspective.)
Likewise, a moderator power to "hide all comments from this user PLUS all comments that have REPLIED to this user in the past" so that a moderator can with a single push of a button hide all the bot-posts plus all the people who "helpfully" say, "Ignore them, it's a bot" so that after the bot comment is removed the helpful-peoples' comments don't look strange.
