Thank you so much for taking the time to make this! I always get a little confused with pants seams and this cleared everything right up. This is especially appropriate for me because I happen to be sewing doll-sized clothes! Haha.

Thank you so much! Your voice and explanation is so easy to listen to! I am so grateful! My mom used to sew for my doll line and she just recently died. It’s been hard for me to get excited but I recently got a lot of positive comments after posting a new rag doll so decided to try to remember how to make the pantaloons my mom used to make. I remember her trying to teach me how to do this. And it was as if she were here for a minute thank you!💕

oh...so sweet. The same feeling my daughter in law has about her mom's dishes! She tells me that she loved her mom's cooking and enjoyed all the time but never tried to pay attention how she was making. Suddenly her mom died and now she regrets how come she did not learn from her mom! (we always take everything for granted and feel confident that we are together forever, isn't it?) I thank youtubers very much as I am learning so much may that be painting in oils, acrylics, sewing, cooking etc and improving my skills. I am a portrait artist, self taught artist and that is why getting new ideas from the youtube channels are very helpful.

Thank you! I've been sewing for many years, but only on occasion and long time spans between. So when I've recently been making some pajamas, I found the pattern guide didn't explain sewing the crotch seam well at all and I was getting totally confused trying to figure it out on my own (and I had to rip out my seam as I realized I had done it wrong)! Your video was so simple and clear on how best to do this!!! Thank so much.

I sew each leg and then put one inside the other with right sides together and then sew the entire crotch seam from front waist to back waist. In my opinion, that creates a hinge point for wearing comfort. It's also how some excellent sewing books instruct.

  • @tommikins1

Brilliant! Very simply solved my confusion about how to sew which seam first! I had to rip open with seam ripper the legs for the first experiment. Then I finished the child's pajamas by sewing the crotch areas first then side seams, then in seams (now i know inner legs seams are first!), then matched the crotch if both pieces and did the elastic band area casing. This is so much simpler! Thanks!

I was never taught to sew on a machine I just bought one and started experimenting... Needles to say nothing fit 😅 i remember copying a pair of shorts with non stretch material and when I was doing the crotch my brain sorta melted in angst... I finally figured it out after much time...but didn't know about adding extra length to the seams for the right fit. I ended up with a nice pair of white shirts several sizes too small with no waist seam whatsoever..I did have pockets tho.. Now that I'm alot older, I'm excited to get another machine. My 86yr old seamstress grandmother is going to teach me some valuable lessons and I can begin again more seasoned...I plan to make many alterations and maybe a few custom outfits and bags..life is about learning from mistakes.. And I hope I learn quickly. Thank you for your added wisdom

You learn a lot when you have to tear things apart. It's great that you didn't give up and finished successfully.

What about t shirt arm holes?? I know that the front and back of shirt is slightly different so if I’m making my own pattern. How do I measure the difference??

thank you! I've tried patterns that used that second way and it was a nightmare for me. I will try to make pants again but this time I will use the first way. It looks so much easier!

It can be really confusing and the pattern instructions are not explained well. I hope the first method works for you.

Thank you. I make pants and still trying to fit better (almost there). Thinking of just making skirts now. Recall old YT vid where sewed stretching part of upper back? leg seam so will fit comfortably. Have you noticed if sew method 1 or 2 changes fit at all? Like your cute mini pants, maybe will try for childrens old doll.
