Intaglio Collagraph and Monoprint Hybrid... (combining two printing techniques)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- In this video I demonstrate how I created a hybrid print using an intaglio collagraph with a monoprint. I use a plastic perspex plate for a monoprint and 7 different collagraph plates fitting together like a jigsaw.
I use a bit of acrylic gesso to create interesting textures as well as some tissue paper and wood glue.

Fantastic work!! So inspiring and just so thankful that you are willing to share your knowledge. I love this look. Would love to see a similar technique again.
Thank you so much and you are very welcome. There’s more to come for sure
Bravo l'Artiste. Thanks so much for sharing your skills and knowledge. Wonderful!
@@sdouba thank you and you are very welcome 🤗
Fabulous work. I didn’t realize how much work and effort and talent it took to create these.
Thank you 🤗
Thanks for the LONG video and showing the whole process. Brown and blue, always a good combi, I think. Like the first print best because of the greater contrast.
Thank you Marijke for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video 😁
Thank you for sharing this. Great
You are welcome 🤗
Well done! Great colors and the gritty surface detail is so interesting.
Thank you very much!🤗
Beautiful
Thank you 🙏
Fabulous! I’m working on some collagraph/ carborundum/drypoint combo monoprints and this video is really helping me to problem-solve my intentions!
Amazing, really glad to hear it 🙌🤗
Really enjoyed watching this process. I am a new student to art in general and am just discovering various printing techniques and possibilities. 👍
Thank you and enjoy the journey 🤗🙌
Loved this video, even if the spider was distracting! LOL!
Ha ha thank you! The spider was my colab 😄
What a wonderful video! Very inspiring. Carol UK
Thank you Carol 😊
Fabulous work and great tutorial thank you! 🥰
You are very welcome 🤗
Some great ideas Marta, your lessons are so good to help expand ones own approach to Collagraph printmaking. how did you get the black lines around the individual collagraph plates was it by allowing the ink to remain on the edges. Thank you.
@@chrisriddles9460 thank you so much! The edges collect ink if cut, so yes you are right, if you don’t wipe them, they will print dark 🙌
Beautiful!!
Thank you 😊
Good video. Gesso, though, is pronounced "jeh-so" not "guess-oh".
Makes me suspect she has not been around artists but has learned from books.
Pronounce differently in UK.
@@hazelrobinson8781 Right, other languages too use the soft 'g' sound instead of 'j' sound.
@@hazelrobinson8781 it's Italian. It doesn't matter if it's food, wine, art, science, it's somewhat important to use the terminology internationally understood, and if teaching: a bit important to get right. It also speaks to the credibility of your education and participation/experience within the field, as it's a shared language. So it's not at all about snobbery. You might have the wrong part extracted in surgery if there wasn't a requirement of using the agreed latin term and pronounciation.
In this case it's just helpful information for the artist in question. I presume she's autodidact which by no means suggests she's a lesser artist than academics. But here's an example: if you said Gallo with an English J it would be understood as Giallo which means yellow.
I've heard artists say Gouache wrong on yt on tutorials too. Typically Americans are lousy at French pronounciation which makes home grown American chefs unintentionally hilarious at times. Fashion terms are another source of hilarity. Remember the film Pretty Woman, where the young girl calls her exclusively giften gown a "Versays" instead of Versace? In my country some people say sucheeney instead of Zucchini. It doesnt matter if you're not in hospitality or food. But does if you are serving international guests. No big deal, just super handy. The English correct people on the names of UK locations and Whisky names ALL the time.
Who cares. Nothing is more annoying when people correct other people when it doesn't make a god damn difference. This is a great vid!
Love your work and really appreciate the detail in your videos. As I'm new to printmaking, I'm always wondering 'how was that done?' You explain it beautifully. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Really glad you are benefiting from the demos 🤗
I like your work... which paper u use mam?? Paper grain?
Thank you 🙏 I use heavy watercolour cold pressed paper 300gsm
I'd rather use modge podge than gesso, or perhaps just glue...
I’ve heard of modge podge, I wish we had it in UK! Always good to hear what others are using, so many possibilities 🙌
What r the plates made from?
Hi Yul, they are made from enviromount
@@CollagraphPrinting Thank you...great work
The closed caption said 'Chik-fil-A' instead of 'Chine-Colle'. 🤣I like your print!!
Oh no that’s so funny, thank you for pointing out and thank you 🙏
The spider stole the show ... 🕷️🕸️
As there a spider in my video? 🫣
@@CollagraphPrinting from about 11.39. It may look like a piece of fluff, but it's hanging off a string of web ☺️
@@SmithCaro 😅🕷️
@@CollagraphPrinting I thought it was fluff, then I thought it was a fly, but I zoomed in and it was a spider hanging from their web ☺️
brilliant tutorial thank you - question did you ink up the pieces 2nd time or left them as there were and got a second print from them?
Thank you Emma, I inked up again. Ghost print would be too weak
Thank you. Just discovered your video. So informative and generous. Who care how “ gesso” is pronounced!
Thank you and I’m really glad you enjoyed it 🤗
Beautiful! Mesmerising watching your process 🙂- makes me want to try it, but it looks like quite an investment for equipment 😱 Would there be such a thing as a beginners starter kit? Perhaps you may have covered this in an earlier video? Also, I’m surprised that the ink doesn’t dry down before you actually take the print…TIA
Hello Tricia, thank you and you are welcome! You are in luck I have a video on how to print without the press! ua-cam.com/video/Lmuv253Pisc/v-deo.html
@@CollagraphPrinting Thankyou - I’ll check it out 😄
Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you and you are welcome 🤗
Thank you for clarifying the making of a colograph. I am going to apply this method to my geli printing, however I also like your technique with the plastic sheet. I appreciate your sharing.
Thank you and you are very welcome 🤗 Geli printing sounds really fun, I might have to give it a try one day!
I am pretty sure its addictive:) Check out Yeates Makes, he does some amazing art on geli plate art use colographs. Great ideas, thank you.
What a beautiful and clear video. Thank you very much!
You are very welcome 🤗
I adore these videos you make and your work and process are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Realized I commented again. 😄😄
