I started the Navigators Book at a Time Reading Plan on January 1, 2023 and just finished the 11th month. It has been the most amazing emotional and spiritual journey of my life! I am looking forward to starting a chronological plan in 2024, so I’m going to do the Bible Recap in 2024. I read everyday and when I had extra time like weekends, holidays, etc. I would study certain books/chapters.

I recommend the Professor Grant Horner Bible Study Plan. Its a great way to learn the ins and outs of the Bible and your jumping around so the reading doesn’t get stale. God Bless!

If you are an absolute beginner, I'd recommend reading Genesis, and then the Gospel of Mark, then Colossians and Titus. Then read Matthew, John, Luke and then Acts and following with the rest of the New Testament. Use the KJV, NKJV, NASB95, ESV or CSB for good literal study. Use the NLT for easy reading and comprehension. God Bless!

@@keithferrin No problem, keep up the good work brother! This is mostly an original plan I came up with for a year long discipleship program I do with people from church. It has worked very well from beginners to people who have some bible knowledge but have never read the Bible through. I recommend this plan of course after said person thoroughly understands the Biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ. Blessings.

I have just decided to read the bible properly and follow this plan. Do you have any tips for how to pray before I read the bible?
Hey Ryan. Sorry I missed this post a couple weeks ago. I always start by THANKING God for his Word. Then I INVITE him to be present (and that I might sense his presence). Then I pray for FOCUS. I also think it's totally fine to pause in the middle of your reading and sit, talk, listen, and pray. Enjoy!

Yes and no. I wouldn't recommend staying in ONLY the chapter and verse. Read "at least" the chapters before and after so you're always reading the context. "Comprehension come through context."

After that, I would probably take a short book - like Ephesians, Philippians, or 2 Timothy - and study it more deeply for a month or two.
I personally would recommend people to read through the gospels with a chronological reading plan and then read acts. Each gospel fleshes out the other gospels.
That can be a great way also. I love mixing it up! Since each gospel has a different "feel" to it, I just prefer (most of the time) to read an entire gospel at once. Thanks for sharing!

First time reading
What do you suggest after those first few New Testament books?
I usually recommend Philippians, Ephesians, or II Timothy. They’re all pretty short, have great messages, and they have lots of familiar verses. Enjoy!

Great question. Once you've done the reading plan in this video, I would suggest doing what I call a "Rapid Bible Read Through." I have a book on it. Here's my affiliate link: amzn.to/4bKEwj9. You can also search "whole Bible" on my channel and a few videos will come up. These will include the OT.
When to read old testament.
For people who are new to faith in Jesus, I recommend starting with the New Testament for the first 6-12 months. After that, I chronological reading of the Bible lays a fantastic foundation. Here's a video where I talk about that: ua-cam.com/video/8IAj6KNuzXg/v-deo.html
I tried to start my journey with god but it was too boring I was reading a chapter a day and I kept falling back into sin and I read a chapter then the next week I would read the next bc it was soooo boring and ima try this one bc it sounds good and ill give an update in 2weeks
I'm so glad you're giving this a try. Something the makes a HUGE difference is having someone to discuss it with. If you're reading and you have a friend also reading, when you get together and talk about it, you will BOTH enjoy it more!
So i Read the book of Genesis and Exodus And I honestly feel like I got nothing out of it. I myself am a Christian. But i'm scared if I do try to read the bible In the span of a year or 2. I'm scared I'm going to get nothing out of it because I'm gonna either forget a lot of stuff like I did with Genesis Or zone out on some stuff like I did with Exodus. Do you have any advice?

As for getting bored or sleepy, I get you! I almost always read OUT LOUD. It also helps if you talk about it with friends. Anything we talk about we get more interested in.

Where and how does Old Testament come in
After you get a solid understanding of the life of Jesus, diving into the Old Testament would make more sense (in my opinion). Especially the first 5 books.
