I'm really glad to see this video; from my experience a lot of Catholics think that praying and going to Mass are the only things that are required to have a better relationship with Christ, but the Holy Bible is God's Word! And it should be read regularly! It deepens and enriches our faith, and there's no better time to start than the present.
man what Catholics to you talk to??? The bible is read directly in mass three times. And the prayer the priest prays and our responses come from the bible. And we are told to read the three readings before we go to church. Some people say I'm Catholic! really?? Yes my grandmother was Catholic my mom is Catholic. Yes but they don't live the faith. Read The Lamb's Supper Scott Hahn is shows how the mass is rooted in biblical tradition God bless you
Have you ever gone to a Mass? The two letters and a passage of the Gospel is actually read out and the priests then talks about them in his homily to teach us the meaning and how it applies to our lives as Christians. Because unlike Protestants, we don't interpret the passages the way that is convenient.
Discovering this channel is so refreshing. I’ve been grown as a catholic but my family never really practiced and I’ve never done some meaningful catechism in order to properly get to know the facts of my religion. Now that I’m almost 20 I feel the urge of getting closer to God, but with no points of references I felt kinda lost. Thank you for doing this. It’s helpful.
This is the most calm, discussion in regards to the bible with not one negative mention of it but instead holds accountability of it. “God used human authors to write the Sacred Scriptures” You know Fr. Schmitz? Thank you for sharing this. Its a reminder for me to be humble no matter how I might think I may be successful it life. As you have said “Watch how you live because your life may be the only Gospel that anyone ever reads” -I had to stop the video and just shed a little tear. That line is so humbling at so many levels. Thank you for this constant reminder 🙆🏻♀
♥️ The Holy Ghost is the author. 2 Peter 1 kJV 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. ♥️ Jesus Christ is a perfect author. I'm a methodist started reading the catholic youth bible just finished Genesis I love the extra bits in this bible too these videos are actually quiet relaxing you'd be surprised I don't go to church but read the bible sect at home
Very likely you or one of your ancestor left the church many years ago. Remember the parable of the Prodigal Son. Our Father eagerly awaits your return.
YES! read the new testament for sure but you will also need to read the old testament! there is SO MUCH in the old testament that is fulfilled by Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. really getting to know Jesus' "past life" in the old testament will really explain the things that happen to him and his people in the new testament.
DeirCallMatter it's an amazing book my love 💙 it is Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth It's kind of difficult to summarize this beautiful book that has changed the lives of many but I do suggest you read it 💙
Word of advice, compare the Old Testament of the bible to the Qur'an until the book of Abraham and see the plagiarism of the Qur'an until Muhammad went insane.
Just wanted to say I am exploring different types of chrstianaty so far I love the catholic teachings the most. I was a babitist but that didn’t feel like worship I want to worship not just listen to a 1hr sermon.
This help a lot, thank you!! just want to started my bible journey and i pray to God to ask for guidance, and thisss!! I pass by this vid without even typing it. All glory to God!!
As a Catholic Christian I would say Christianity reveals the inherent good which comes with being made in the image of God who is all loving and all powerful. Thus we do have good in us but we don't actually fully realise that until we allow faith in Christ to uncover it
Fr. Mike you speak with words of wisdom. Many times I feel frustrated because I do NOT know how to read the Bible, NOT only with a historical and theological perspective, being aware that it was written during an specific time in history and directed for specific people, but my point is: How do I make sense in my life today: 2018, in my personal history and in my circumstances, because many times I feel pretty much frustrated like you, according to what you just said. I feel like I am reading history but kind of far away of who I am. I read it with faith because I know is the Word of God, but many times I don't feel the "Holy Spirit inspiration" and I don't mean it in my ordinary and everyday life, because God is all the time with me and when I have confronted Him, because I am sad or lonely, He always answers me. Because without God my life is senseless, nothing makes sense and I feel completely lost, and confused, but praying the rosary, the divine mercy chaplet and from time to time the way of the cross, as well as attending mass, getting the Eucharist and the sacrament of reconciliation, when necessary, then and only then, my life makes sense even if I have to go through hardship and setbacks. You are such a friendly and easy going priest. I thank God for your ministry and apostolic work. I send you a hug in Our Lord Jesus Christ, true Man and true God. Amen.
Jorge Campos, my friend. When reading the Bible you must understand it. You must seek discernment and understanding from God. It is not a book for babies. That is why you need to read it as if you're studying it. Jesus talked alot of parables, which are wise sayings that are hard to understand. But Jesus talked in parables to fulfill a prophecy. Read Matthew 13. He points out that people have grown "dull" in understanding. In which most Catholics are today.
Ray Mark, my brother in Jesus Christ, you are right, the Bible is not a self-help book, it is not easy to get the "Word of God". I ask the Holy Spirit to help me to read and study the Bible to get the most of it, granting me the gift of discernment and understanding. I want to live the way My Lord Jesus Christ want me to live and I want to study the Bible to become a better Catholic. It is not easy at all and by myself it is not possible, I am praying to get those gifts so I can give testimony of Jesus by deeds, word and prayer. I thank you so much for your comment, it is very helpful. Please pray for me. God bless you and again thank you for your words. Peace be with you. Amen.
Jorge Campos, I am glad that you are brother. That is the way to know God more, not in rituals and traditions. Because rituals and traditions are repeatative, that is why there is no growth for most Catholics and or Protestants. Although I'm not Catholic, I believe that Jesus is Lord, and to believe in Him you must know Him and His words. GOD BLESS!
*reads geometry book* "This is the worst poetry I've ever read, it doesn't even rhyme!" The best line in the video, makes me laugh every time. Maybe because I'm a math student 😂
I was baptized Catholic, did my first communion then attended catechism but never had a strong relationship with God. By the time I was 30 years old and had been living a destructive life indulging in sin while being married with children..until the LORD broke me and revelled to me the condition of my life but more so my soul. I them gave my life Jesus Christ and was born again..At that point it was when I started reading the Bible and had been reading it now for 5years and can say by my experiences that it is the true authority and God's word.. through His word in scripture I came to understands who Jesus was, is and forever be our LORD and Savior who by his shedding of His blood I am justifies and by faith in Him I have been sanctified..As i continue in growing being stewarded by the Holy Spirit and by through the Holy Scripture. I pray that all my Catholic friends and family just return to the only authority the Holy Bible.
I'm a Christian, I come across this video today, and I was so happy to know that the Catholic church has encouraged its followers to read and study the bible these days! My sister is a Catholic, she hardly read the bible at home by herself, she seemed to be satisfied by just hearing the message from the priest at church . I see that most of the Catholic has symbolized the Pope as their Lord rather than as a spoke person, correct me if I was wrong! Catholic or Christian are all children of God, we are brothers and sisters in Christ😊 We all strive to be a mature Christian by the nourishment of the Bible!
Jesus the Way to the Father John 14 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

this was awesome! Thank you Fr. Mike -- just what I wanted -- especially the last part about how we can be used by the holy spirit to be stories, inspirations, answers -- words -- gospels -- for others. Thank you!
@Ulysses Hildebrandt That's literally a very small portion of Catholic priests and every single group has bad people in it. You can't judge one whole group of people based on the worst people in the group.
Great video! Thanks Fr. Mike! That's pretty crazy that I've gone through similar phases in reading Scripture. It's a wonderful thing to read and reflect on the Truth of God's Word, in such a multitude of literary genres and styles. As Bishop Barron said about the Bible, it's a library. A library of God's Word, in epic sagas, to poetry, to narrative, law, tragedies, comedies, history, parables, and biographies. Such a wonderful Book the Bible is, reading it from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 is definitely well worth it. I once read it all within a year, I fell short this last year by finishing the Old Testament before Christmas (which is pretty good, starting on the New Testament, in the season of the New Testament). I always try to read at least one chapter a day. I recommend it! PAX VOBISCUM IN CHRISTUM!
You are right Fr Mike. The books in the bible were written by men according to their knowledge and understanding at that time. Their main goal was to pen down what they knew about God’s way and truth in the hope we live a life according to God’s original plan.
First of all I’m Catholic, my family are Baptist ( Protestants ) & I never knew that the KJV Bible which Protestants use had missing books I thought as a Protestant that all Bibles were the same but then in my early 30’s I started getting interested in religion & I picked Catholicism & learned a lot & that’s after 25 -27 years out of any church or religion I’m back baby & now I know better , as they say when you know better you do better.
I have read he Parish Bible{I call it the BIG BOOK} Three times, and each Time, I get a Different "Good" Reasoning for every word. Soon, I think I will read it again. The 3rd. Time, I read everything including the Footnotes. The Bible is the Best Book I have ever Read!
I grew up in a non church going, evangelical, charismatic, Protestant household and had a set of the “Mee Too” bible story books as a kid. Now after going through my doubt and rejection phase I’m a 29 year old recent Catholic convert and I’m reading through the Bible for the first time. I read the NT over the past year reading it as a collection of history books, each book from end to end (besides Revelation of course). And now I’m on the Pentateuch which I am reading as the history of my ancestors in true religion, continuous with the Catholic Church today. It’s really cool when I read about the priestly garments made out of “gold, blue and purple and scarlet stuff” or the laver at the entrance of the tent of meeting or the alter of incense. It’s like, “Cool! We still do that.” I’m gonna have to read the gospels again after because I can already tell that there’s a lot of stuff that will make more sense like the doves offered as redemption for Jesus as the first born son.
I have a 🐈 Catholic youth Bible although I'm a Methodist I'm trying to learn more about the Catholic faith ✋ this man is SO passionate about his subjects which I love Remember Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever
Look into Fr Mike and The Catechism in a Year series. It is awesome and plunges into all Catholic teaching. It started Jan 1, 2023. On UA-cam or any podcast app. You will fall in love with it.
I needed to see this video. I hit a wall 4 to 6 weeks ago, reading the Bible on my own because I read a passage that was so negative to me about women. I will keep making attempts to study more and be closer to the father.
Jessica Maldonado I'm not sure what it was you read. But always remember the Catholic Churches greatest and highest saint is Mary, a woman. We have to all strive to be like her because she did the will of God perfectly. And we want to be perfect for God too like she was.
First when I first heard the Story of Jonah and the Whale I thought it was just a kids story but when my dad read the Book of Jonah I was like wait a second was it true and he told me everything about the Bible and that’s how I became a Catholic
Thank you Fr. Mike for the good explanation. All the Praise,Glory Honour & Power belongs to Almighty God Jesus Christ 🙏🌹 May God bless you Fr. Semoga Tuhan memberkati kita semua. Amen.
I am at the 3rd Age right now. I feel really confused right now in life, and I feel like a big part of that is being away from Church due to covid. So I decided to fall back to what I know will give me answers and reassurance, The Bible.
I'm a methodist I have the catholic youth bible not finished reading it yet this channel is cool to I'm looking to incorporate more catholic elements into my practice including the alter I don't know why but this feels right to me
I am the best reader I know of personally. I know it sounds self serving but I'm the one that can read from a text to the public more fluently than most others. Others have conveyed this to me, not just my ego chirping. When I try to read the bible, I'm awash in confusion within just a couple of pages of which there are a lot.
Hi Father, I really love God's teachings through you.😊 I was wondering. Is it possible for you to give us God's blessings upon all watching, blessing us In The Name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. I know our Mama Mary of Medj said, "If priests knew the Power of God they have in their hands, they would never put their hands down". I believe in the Power & Greatness of our Father that even through these media channels, His Blessings through priests can bring about Great conversions. God's blessings through you, Fr. Mike, on this site may be the only blessing that some souls who listen, get. And it could be that blessing that breaks or makes a lost brother or sister return to our Heavenly Father. Thank you.

Reading the Bible with private interpretation would lead u to a wrong way.... U need majestirium
Good distinction between historically and literally true, thanks for making that point.
This is the most calm, discussion in regards to the bible with not one negative mention of it but instead holds accountability of it.
“God used human authors to write the Sacred Scriptures”
You know Fr. Schmitz? Thank you for sharing this.
Its a reminder for me to be humble no matter how I might think I may be successful it life.
As you have said “Watch how you live because your life may be the only Gospel that anyone ever reads”
-I had to stop the video and just shed a little tear.
That line is so humbling at so many levels. Thank you for this constant reminder 🙆🏻♀
♥️ The Holy Ghost is the author.
2 Peter 1 kJV
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
♥️ Jesus Christ is a perfect author.
Hebrews 5 kJV
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
♥️ KJV is 7th
Psalms 12 KJV
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Thank you God for using Fr Mike ' s talks to help us so much. It has helped me enormously. Please bless this wonderful faithful servant of God, Fr Mike abundantly. Keep him safe and protect him and all our beloved priests from any attacks from the evil one. May his priesthood sanctified.
Father Mike Schmidt we Love you in Austin Texas🐂🐂
I'm a methodist started reading the catholic youth bible just finished Genesis I love the extra bits in this bible too these videos are actually quiet relaxing you'd be surprised I don't go to church but read the bible sect at home
God is calling you to his true Church he started 22AD.
33AD correction!
Very likely you or one of your ancestor left the church many years ago. Remember the parable of the Prodigal Son. Our Father eagerly awaits your return.
im planning to read the bible, im a muslim.
That's wonderful! Do it! I recommend John chapter 3 in the New Testament
YES! read the new testament for sure but you will also need to read the old testament! there is SO MUCH in the old testament that is fulfilled by Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. really getting to know Jesus' "past life" in the old testament will really explain the things that happen to him and his people in the new testament.

Word of advice, compare the Old Testament of the bible to the Qur'an until the book of Abraham and see the plagiarism of the Qur'an until Muhammad went insane.
well done my friend
Just wanted to say I am exploring different types of chrstianaty so far I love the catholic teachings the most. I was a babitist but that didn’t feel like worship I want to worship not just listen to a 1hr sermon.
Hi Leslie. The Traditional Latin Mass is just what you need. God bless you.
Eucharistic worship is the true worship... come home to the Catholic Church the only church establish by Christ
Yes Catholicism is historically correct and no plotholes to any of the teachings and the ULTIMATE truth
Dear. The Catholic church is the only true Christianity since it has retained all of the God's teachings.
Wow, that was profound. The more we live through truth, the more truth is presented to us and manifests. Love you all.
I am not a Catholic but i love watching these videos they are Nice!
Fr. U r a great gift of God to us continue to do such thing to please the Lord n inspire lots of people 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This help a lot, thank you!! just want to started my bible journey and i pray to God to ask for guidance, and thisss!! I pass by this vid without even typing it. All glory to God!!
Religion reinforces the good thats already in us
As a Catholic Christian I would say Christianity reveals the inherent good which comes with being made in the image of God who is all loving and all powerful. Thus we do have good in us but we don't actually fully realise that until we allow faith in Christ to uncover it
Jesus saves? From what, himself?
@Yeshua OnlySavior religion guides you to Jesus to go to God ;-) Blessings too !
This is a great catechetical tool for my freshman students. This is just what we're discussing...plus you add a practical takeaway. Thank you so much!
GOD BLESS!
Thank you Father Mike. That was awesome. Continue being on fire for GOD!!!!!!
*reads geometry book*
"This is the worst poetry I've ever read, it doesn't even rhyme!"
The best line in the video, makes me laugh every time.
The energy and enthusiasm really helped me with this idea. It reminded me to be excited myself.
Just started to read the Bible recently from the start, reading to about 10 pages daily and it’s just feel refreshing after reading couple of pages ☺️
great presence, good tone of voice, natural and welcoming.
Catholic or Christian are all children of God, we are brothers and sisters in Christ😊
We all strive to be a mature Christian by the nourishment of the Bible!
Jesus the Way to the Father
John 14 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Amen
Isn't he like the cutest father ever.. he made me feel like i wanna be a kid, n have a great bible story teller like him.. hope catholic has more smart n energetic father like him, so people can love God even more too.. Father I’ve been watching your videos from California 💗 they’ve been really helpful to understand many questions I’ve had through out my life.... Thank you
Thank you father Mike Schmitz! Beautifully said 👏 ❤ and may God love you and bless you abundantly. 3 hail Mary to all priests.
We watch father Mike videos and say he's enthusiasm friendly demeanor and really explain his subjects well done father Mike
this was awesome! Thank you Fr. Mike -- just what I wanted -- especially the last part about how we can be used by the holy spirit to be stories, inspirations, answers -- words -- gospels -- for others. Thank you!
I love the Bible I've traveled through the passage ways and pursued further paths in my readings
TY Father Mike, Appreciate your viewpoint of Our Holy Scriptures.
Blessings
I think I’m catholic now.
TheRealConservative welcome home
@Satanic Hugs stop spreading hate
@Ulysses Hildebrandt That's literally a very small portion of Catholic priests and every single group has bad people in it. You can't judge one whole group of people based on the worst people in the group.
@Satanic Hugs Cheap shot
Fr Mike how do you stay so happy, you bring me a joyous day from ur funny and hyper personality. TY
The way you began this video was HILARIOUS. Love this channel
Thank you, brother, for your good biblical explanation
I NEED SOMEONE TO SAY A WEE PRAYER FOR MYSELF, I'm in a mess, though I'm fine.., tKS

@@2010gtoner can i get a blessing?😂😂
First of all I’m Catholic, my family are Baptist ( Protestants ) & I never knew that the KJV Bible which Protestants use had missing books I thought as a Protestant that all Bibles were the same but then in my early 30’s I started getting interested in religion & I picked Catholicism & learned a lot & that’s after 25 -27 years out of any church or religion I’m back baby & now I know better , as they say when you know better you do better.
Love this teaching! I am going to give it another try. Thank you Father Mike❤️
What a dynamic speaker, truly Father Mike has a gift to inspire you to the word of God!
I haven’t read it since I was a teenager. I am a new convert who is learning everything almost new. It is actually intimidating.
It is true!! The Bible gives me wisdom and patience! :-) i love God so much.
I love the catholic teaching of the bible God bless you.
I have a 🐈 Catholic youth Bible although I'm a Methodist I'm trying to learn more about the Catholic faith ✋ this man is SO passionate about his subjects which I love
Remember
Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever
Look into Fr Mike and The Catechism in a Year series. It is awesome and plunges into all Catholic teaching. It started Jan 1, 2023. On UA-cam or any podcast app. You will fall in love with it.
Very helpful and inspirational! This one needs to be posted every month, thank you father Mike Schmidt!
I needed to see this video. I hit a wall 4 to 6 weeks ago, reading the Bible on my own because I read a passage that was so negative to me about women. I will keep making attempts to study more and be closer to the father.
Jessica Maldonado
I'm not sure what it was you read. But always remember the Catholic Churches greatest and highest saint is Mary, a woman. We have to all strive to be like her because she did the will of God perfectly. And we want to be perfect for God too like she was.
Jose Joaquin Mendoza A saint is anyone who made it to heaven, so how could Mary not be a saint? She litteraly ascended into Heaven!
Margaret Schachte Actually, the only one who ascended to heaven was Jesus. But Enoch, Elijah and Mary were assumed to heaven.
First when I first heard the Story of Jonah and the Whale I thought it was just a kids story but when my dad read the Book of Jonah I was like wait a second was it true and he told me everything about the Bible and that’s how I became a Catholic
Your making religion so much more inspirational..🙏🏾
I love...your positivity & ambition!!!✝️🙏✝️🙏✝️
Thank you, Father Mike!
I also read the Bible too. It's inspiring too.
Thank you Fr. Mike for the good explanation. All the Praise,Glory Honour & Power belongs to Almighty God Jesus Christ 🙏🌹
May God bless you Fr.
Semoga Tuhan memberkati kita semua.
Amen.
A good way of shedding light on how to read the Bible.
thanks Fr. Mike, this is sooo relatable. I went through all those phases you mentioned!
I am at the 3rd Age right now. I feel really confused right now in life, and I feel like a big part of that is being away from Church due to covid. So I decided to fall back to what I know will give me answers and reassurance, The Bible.
I'm a methodist I have the catholic youth bible not finished reading it yet this channel is cool to I'm looking to incorporate more catholic elements into my practice including the alter I don't know why but this feels right to me
U preach so well....
Thanks father mike
This was a really good video Fr. Mike. :D
His enthusiasm adds such sweetness to the Word.
I'm in inspirational phase now. Psalms are amazing. =)
The first book I read to completion was Psalms.
Same.
I love the of Psalm my favorite book in the Bible ever .
Thank you for making these videos Fr
God bless all of us who watch
God bless you Fr. Mike for your sharing 👍
I am the best reader I know of personally. I know it sounds self serving but I'm the one that can read from a text to the public more fluently than most others. Others have conveyed this to me, not just my ego chirping. When I try to read the bible, I'm awash in confusion within just a couple of pages of which there are a lot.
This is inspiring. I had to watch this video for school, and I thought it would be boring, but it’s actually very interesting. Thanks for the video.
It always cracks me up when I remember a girl in school accidently tearing a page in the Bible and freaking out thinking she was gonna be cursed
She won't. God loves both the Good and Evil.
Lol I opened the bible randomly multiple times and it had exactly the thing I was looking for o.O
It's great. You are so enthusiastic about the bible. Brilliant work Father. 👍 God bless you
Thank you Father
Thank you father Mike, GOD Bless!
Thank you.
Def keep the beard. Thank you, Father...I'm not Catholic but I don't discriminate. I do appreciate your effort, words and enthusiasm. I have some questions and will look how to make contact.
Hi Father. Do I have to bless my bible to a priest?
Thanks for giving me clarification on how to read the Bible
Yes Fr. Mike yes you do make sense. Thank You
Amen, Father! This is great content! God bless you a lot for this!
Love your videos father. Great as always. God bless.
Thank you for this! I’m starting to read the Bible! Thank you so much🤍💜🤍
