The *purpose* of going the Bible is to Spend time with God, and be with Him i.e. *relational*
That was my favorite part, and what caused me to prioritize the time to listen to this entire interview.
Good work in The Lord brothers.

What I've done is copy and restructure the verse in OneNote with bold and highlights. The 2nd thing I will start doing is to create a mind storyboard of the keywords. I agree with the internalize part as I remember best what I use what I share.

Therefore become imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father]; and walk continually in love [that is, value one another-practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others], just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God [slain for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance. But sexual immorality and all [moral] impurity [indecent, offensive behavior] or greed must not even be hinted at among you, as is proper among saints [for as believers our way of life, whether in public or in private, reflects the validity of our faith]. Let there be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse [obscene or vulgar] joking, because such things are not appropriate [for believers]; but instead speak of your thankfulness [to God]. For be sure of this: no immoral, impure, or greedy person-for that one is [in effect] an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God [for such a person places a higher value on something other than God]. Let no one deceive you with empty arguments [that encourage you to sin], for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience [those who habitually sin]. So do not participate or even associate with them [in the rebelliousness of sin].
      Ephesians 5:1‭-‬7 AMP

    • @238act
      @238act День тому

I wrote you in my [previous] letter not to associate with [sexually] immoral people- not meaning the immoral people of this world, or the greedy ones and swindlers, or idolaters, for then you would have to get out of the world and human society altogether! But actually, I have written to you not to associate with any so-called [Christian] brother if he is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater [devoted to anything that takes the place of God], or is a reviler [who insults or slanders or otherwise verbally abuses others], or is a drunkard or a swindler-you must not so much as eat with such a person. For what business is it of mine to judge outsiders (non-believers)? Do you not judge those who are within the church [to protect the church as the situation requires]? God alone sits in judgment on those who are outside [the faith]. Remove the wicked one from among you [expel him from your church].
      1 Corinthians 5:9‭-‬13 AMP

I've been a Christian for 60 years and I don't recall ever hearing a sermon on the value of making a habit of internalizing or memorizing scripture. Now I'm feeling led to internalize scripture and I admit that I'm feeling terrified. Here I am learning and hearing wonderful YT videos gathering information and becoming more comfortable with starting to look at the Bible and God's word from a new perspective. Praying about NIV or NLT and starting with reading Philippians for 30 days. Thank you for this podcast. Love and blessings to all ❤✝

@thehylers1021 I found out that John MacArthur chose a book of the Bible, and read through the same book everyday for 30days. setting the limit at 7chapters when reading through the longer books. writing down themes, observations & questions as he read. I started following that advice the same day I heard it. Starting with a short book such as James, and at times even reading through James multiple times in the same day if I had enough time. It has slowly renewed my mind, and the people in my life have noticed a change for the better. I find it much easier to take my thoughts captive, and set my mind on the things above. It has been so helpful! And has been worth every bit of time & effort! Last week, a co worker of mine who had been at my job for a month approached me, and opened up to me. He told me that I was different from everyone else there, that I was trustworthy. His situation is desperate, and He had no one whom He could confide in. I immediately made it clear that by reading the Bible daily, God used that to teach, correct, and warn me. I wasn't anyone virtuous on my own, It was ALL the Lord's work in my life. I shared as many truths about God's character as I could with him, Prayed with him, and invited him to church, and gave him my number. The following day, I gave him an NLT NT with practical helps written all throughout. He expressed hope, and an eagerness to learn who God really is. He looked forward to meeting my friends at church who used scripture to help me through a rough break up & an 8yr addiction to weed. Please pray for him. He's a 32y/o single father struggling with alcohol. The Lord deserves all the Glory!

I was fortunate to see Keith in person presenting Phillipians, I want to say it was, at our church maybe 20 years ago. I remember being impressed with the sheer content he had memorized, certainly. The way he presented it as a whole letter, and delivered the letter personally to us--that was the real impact. I saw then, maybe for the first time, that Scripture wasn't just something to simply know or quote, but it was meant to be a deep part of our minds and our lives, truly transformative power.

I bought a Bible without chapters or verses. That made it a lot easier to see it as a whole. That's being said, when I found something I wanted to keep track of, I pulled out my Bible in my phone to search the phrase and then marked my observation in my paper Bible. Stick to it. It comes faster as time goes on.

Like a child learning multiplication tables without understanding

    All very random and thoughtless!!!

This completely changed the way I look at things. I had been wondering why I'd been feeling... I don't know- unfulfilled?- in my Bible studies.
The straightforward way it was explained as a relationship woke me up from a very critical mindset. I was slipping back into old legalistic habits without even knowing it; thank you!
I'll probably come back to this video a few times in-order to really let the message sink home, but the core of "internalization", "memorization as a tool", and "watch the movie before studying it", have really rocked the way I was looking at things. I had been wondering why it felt like I knew so much and so little at the same time, and this is why. I've been knowing of God, but failing to take the time to KNOW Him. I've been missing the point of studying Scripture.
This video took what the Holy Spirit had been trying to tell me and brought it all together. He used it to teach me something I thought I knew.

I definitely liked Keith's emphasis on "being soaked by the Word" and ensuring that is the focus over pure memorization with the goal being that its there to transform our lives (Rom 12:2). Sometimes I'll have a verse "memorized" but it actually isn't perfect word-by-word but what I call my own personal paraphrased version which I've come to learn is still immensely valuable. When I debate whether I should make it a premium to make it perfect, I remember how even different translations are varied but I certainly care to ensure I don't miss key elements, so its a gradual path toward completion.

Word perfect, punctuation perfect? I don’t know that I could ever depart from memorizing this way. However, your guest is right on with the point about internalizing. Is the Word in our hearts and therefore visible through our lives, or is it stuck in our big religious heads? Bible Memory Goal has always featured guests that value heart knowledge-amen! I used to be an academic-I still am in some ways-but the Lord has shown me the importance of meditation and internalization. Blessings Josh, Reverend Darren McClelland ✝️🙏🙂

As a teacher, I am amazed that we aren't taught this. Kids get bored becasue they have no hook to hang a fact on t. A brain science fact I learned is that the brain 9 in all people , all ages , all of history , wants ONE thing. What could that possibly be for everyone. It is MEANING . and people all need purpose and significance. without those mental health isnt whole. see eph 2:10 for all in one place and note the good works are prepared beforehand- so our interests are important for our destiny. iOne teen was suspended and I asked him how he would change school . "I wish I could learn one thing a day that I am interested in.! Anyway, I never thought of any of this , and this changes how I am going to spend my Bible time today , and your way will change my life. I struggle with depression, and need to remember the scriptures to get out of it. But they dont saturate me , so they are ineffective for such a soul soaked problem I believe this way will also comfort me, because I dont know when the Holy Spirit comforts me the other way. no experience of it much. Thank you .

The Holy Spirit is the teacher and it’s not up to me “to get something out of it.” I think that with my next book I’m going to do a read through 30x before I start memorizing. Great episode! Thanks!

I enjoy memorizing God's word, for several reasons; His word is like a faraday cage for my mind. Many scriptures point to this. David said, "Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee". And I also have learned, that Holy Spirit shows you hidden things from verses that you memorized that you may have missed or didn't discern before. Also memorization is good for the brain. I read research that shows the potential for warding of alzheimers.

Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him saying, “Explain [clearly] to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, and the field is the world; and [as for] the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one; and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels. So just as the weeds are gathered up and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend [those things by which people are led into sin], and all who practice evil [leading others into sin], and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping [over sorrow and pain] and grinding of teeth [over distress and anger].

Most importantly, you must be daily filled with and led by the Holy Spirit. John 14:26; Romans 8:9,14; Ephesians 2:12.
Ask and you will receive Luke 11:13. He leads from then on, and you believe as you obey.
The Bible and all the prophesies were shut Daniel 12:4, and no matter how you do it, you can never understand it. Isaiah 29:11-12, that's why those who don't have faith in the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, neither His Holy Spirit, revert to teaching the precepts of men and their traditions verse 13; Matthew 15:3. The book was taken, Revelation 5 again, and opened, Revelation 6, so that the prophesies could be fulfilled in due time Luke 4:17-20; John chapters 10-17 ; 19:30; Isaiah 29:18 In Revelation 10 and11, it converts to oral prophesies and was proclaimed by the witnesses.
There will no longer be a physical book, so everyone would hear the gospel or God's words, and will not have any excuses on judgment day. Even the spirits in hell got preached to 1 Peter 3:19-20.
God will be Righteous and Just when He judges!

    @ronkebarber6238 9 днів тому

It's very hard to read the bible because it is the book of life, meaning it is alive. It is a living book.
It is a two- way study. It studies you as you study it, and it shows you your heart.
You can not pick it up without either an ulterior agenda or you are really serious about learning more about its content.
The moment you decide to even pick it up, your heart begins to race, and you're uncomfortable before you make the final move to open the book.
    Isaiah 29:8, 11-13.
If you're educated, you can not approach it as such, or if you're illiterate, you can not avoid it because of this.
The book ministers to both the literate and the illiterate alike, by the power of the Holy Spirit, because the word becomes fluid, as it flows into their hearts.
As long as you open the book, you can not stop the flow. There's no barrier that can stop it from getting into the innermost core of your heart.
Now, you can resist, but it will cut deep, but if you open your heart to it, it will flow gently, but still take care of obstacles along the path.
The written word comes alive and becomes an interface with your heart. They begin a dialogue, and eventually, you begin to get convicted as it touches on those sensitive issues you thought you had buried deeply into the recess of your mind and begins to chisel away. If you relax and give it permission, it will root it all out, bleed it out, and begin the reconstruction of all that hadn't aligned with the word. The pain is out of this world, but there's Balm in Gilead!
You feel the cool touch of the loving hand that just turned your whole life upside down, inside out, and a peace that you can never describe at the same time, which then wraps you in the most beautiful love that you have never experienced.
This will make you always go back to the word, for in it you now have what is called LIFE John 5:39; 1 John 5:11-12.
This life is from the presence of the Holy Spirit, to which you were connected as with an intravenous drip, on which your life depends.
You feel alive, and nothing else matters because His angels become like caregivers, and take care of all your other stuff you may not be able to do because you're connected!
    Then you learn to rest!
By the time you finish the dose for the day, you're so energized you can take on an army, but you'll be led and directed by the Holy Spirit, so you don't mess up your still open sore, and not be a meddler in other people's affairs. This Meaning, you only mind God's business as you're being led. The devil will always be at your heel, but as long as you remain connected, by the line- the Holy Spirit, you're already made more than a conqueror, through the power that runs inside of you. But you must study daily and at all times Proverbs 8, so you can get to know the God and Jesus Christ of the bible John 17:3, and His way, His will in all spiritual wisdom, knowledge, understanding, discernment, discretion, prudence, might and counsel. That is Life everlasting!
    No one likes this!
On the other hand, if you resist, you will be condemned, and the connection will be cut off . The devil will have the opportunity to accuse you, first to yourself, and then before God, and will he will definitely be on the right, and you will not be able to overcome him, no matter what you do. He fights dirty. He will show you what you will be missing if you remained connected, and you will not be able to resist, the living waters that flow softly, for that from the well, which you use your own power to dig. He will get you so far away from the life you need before he deals you a good blow, and you may or not recover from it.
Moreover, he does worse things to those who are even connected, but they're never alone.
Therefore, both had to get to the end and then finally be redeemed, restored, or rejected and renounced.
This is the main reason the bible is hard to study.
You can only get what you put into the study - as to time and effort, that's why not many spiritual people understand the bible. Matthew 13:11; Deuteronomy 29:29. The Apostle Paul spent 14 years in Arabia, just going over all the material evidence he collected while following Jesus Christ, to persecute Him, but they turned out to be the infallible proof he got to prove Who Jesus Christ really is- The Messiah, and effectively disseminated the information he gathered, by the enabling help if the Holy Spirit, through all his epistles to us all Romans 16:24; Colossians 1:26 etc.
God had to find those that love and fear Him to be able to confide His secrets to them Psalm 25:14, otherwise, people who profess to know God will misuse and abuse His word and revealed will.
The race is really not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong.

The Bible is like a giant box of puzzles which have to be painstakingly put together, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, by grace through faith in the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, without which it means nothing to anyone.
Thus, unless one believes, no one has any reason or right to dispel, dispute, or debate for or against the Bible without first getting all the puzzles together in place. No one can understand the Bible without faith, being in His fold, abiding in Him until the end.
No one outside of His fold can ever understand. Matthew 13:11.
Man's belief or lack thereof has nothing to do with God in any way.
How can they believe by basing Him on what they think or what others say about Him.
The Bible is the only authority on who God is or not.
Before anyone decides to have any opinions about God, you first need to find out who He is or not, then you can make up your mind to accept or deny or whatever about Him.
How can anyone critique a book or movie without reading or watching it?
The Bible is a living Book. Every word is alive, so if you need proof of what is written, you have to approach it by FAITH, and by the enabling help of the Holy Spirit John 14:26, and you have to replace your present faith which makes you go against the word, with the saving FAITH upon which the Bible is truly based.

It is important to know who God is, and how we can come to know Him. Our job is to find Jesus so:
We start with Jesus is The Word, John 1:1-5
The Word God spoke: Exodus 20:1
The Word God wrote: Deuteronomy 4:13
and The Word God made flesh John 1:14.
Let the Law that hung on the cross and the Law written in your heart not just guide you, but lead you and your loved ones. As Paul would say, "put on Jesus."
We can't put Him on if we don't know Him. Just as God wrote Jesus in our heart, it will be Him that writes it in our mind.
As we begin our walk in Him He will tell or show us what He needs us to do. He personalize each of our talents and make it effective in the job we as a nation needs to do.
    It all starts by remembering:
    Ecclesiastes 12:13
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. And remembering to obey Deut. 6:8-9. Amen
