🟪🟩🟧 Is Donald Trump the worst US president ever? Historians say so
Scholars say Trump's efforts to overturn his election defeat, as well as his response to COVID-19, have cemented his place as America's worst president.
      By Matthew Knott The Guardian
Washington: It was not until 1948 - more than 150 years since the first US presidential election - that anyone tried to create a systematic ranking of American presidents.
At the request of Life magazine, Harvard University historian Arthur M. Schlesinger polled 55 historians and asked them to rank the men who had held the presidency from first to last.
Schlesinger’s survey found that historians rated Abraham Lincoln, who led the US through the Civil War, the best president of all time. George Washington, the nation’s first president, was ranked number two. The most recent ex-president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, came in third thanks to his success steering the country through the Great Depression and World War II, as well as his ambitious New Deal program.
In last place was Warren Harding, who served in the White House from 1921 until his death in 1923. Although popular while in office, Harding's legacy was damaged by scandals that came to light after his death - including one of his cabinet members being convicted for bribery for leasing out oil reserves at below-market rates.
Presidential ranking surveys have since proliferated, with historians and political scientists deploying increasingly elaborate methods to try to assess presidents' track records as objectively as possible.
The Siena College Research Institute in New York, which has conducted regular presidential surveys since 1982, asks experts to assess presidents based on 20 categories ranging from integrity, intelligence, willingness to take risks, management of the economy, foreign policy achievements and their relationship with Congress.
Even so, these surveys have their critics. Schlesinger's survey was accused of being biased towards Democrats - a common complaint about subsequent surveys given political scientists and historians tend to be significantly more left-leaning than the population at large.
The early presidents have also largely been given a pass for acts of racism that would destroy the reputation of their modern-day successors.
FDR consistently ranks among the top presidents, despite his decision to place Japanese Americans in internment camps during World War II. Washington and Jefferson rank highly despite owning slaves, as does Woodrow Wilson despite segregating the federal bureaucracy based on race.
The rankings have bounced around over time, and usually have slight differences depending who conducts the survey. But when it comes to the best and worst presidents in history, there has had been little change since Schlesinger's first list in 1948.
Washington, FDR and Lincoln nearly have always dominated the top three slots. Harding has been consistently placed at the bottom, alongside Andrew Johnson (President from April 15, 1865 to March 4, 1869) and James Buchanan (who served from March 4, 1857 to March 4, 1861)
That all changed when Donald Trump came along.

❤ That is my generation as well brother. I lived Dr. Kings Dream. We lived Dr. Kings Dream. We were the Dream! White Lady from Dallas. We all were friends. From sports to sleep overs and 80/90s mall rats. Racism was not even a thought. Latino, Black, White, Asian, Native... pink with purple polka dots. How on earth we went from that to this mess still gets me. I do know part of that comes from those that have continued to live in what I'll call historic echo chambers and not ventured to live in a more diverse area. Friends that I have made through the years will tell me that they once lived in those areas and once they moved out they were surprised to find what they thought about the outside world was completely false. He misstated the voting record of Dems vs GOP in the Civil Rights Law of 1964. Here's the actual numbers: In the House (after the original bill was amended by the Senate and it came back for a final vote), 153 Dems voted for, 91 against, 2 voted "present," 7 didn't vote.
GOP voted 136 for, 35 against, 2 "present," 5 not voting.
The House was composed of 253 Democrats, and 178 Republicans. So as a percentage, Dems favored the bill 60%, while Republicans favored it 76%, opposed it 36% and 20% respectively.
But he was right about the KKK, Jim Crow laws, and opposition to integration--standing in the schoolhouse doors, etc. That was the work of Democrats. And what's been the actual result, after 50 years, of all the supposed "caring" for the black community by Democrats? Poverty rates are still where they were back then, divorces are far higher, crime and incarcerations are way up, single parent homes are the rule and not the exception, and abortions are through the roof.
If any political party had set out to construct a program to keep the black community at a disadvantage, they couldn't have done better than what's been done to them by the DNC. And even after these results are in, most still vote Democrat.

    • @321gates
      @321gates 8 місяців тому

I believe 75% of black households had a father present in the 1950's. Welfare, and to an extent affirmative action, has decimated the black family. Similar is happening today to white/hispanic families through welfare dependency. The goal of the democrat party is to destroy the middle class and usher in socialism/communism. Plain and simple. We're already seeing our largest corporations (future oligarchs) setting their place at the table by implementing woke policies. Bottom line is that the democrat party is all about their agenda, not the people they supposedly support and represent.

I doubt it'll ever even get to that point. These court cases are for little anything else other then DNC optics. It just further inflames their base. But it wont get any further than these civil courts.
Once the corrupt judge condemns him, Trump will appeal... and this will be pushed up towards the supreme court. Not only is the supreme court right leaning currently (weighted by Trumps own appointments)... But all the lawsuits are so blatantly corrupt, one would believe that the supreme court wont let any of this pass once it gets to their desk.
Its just unfortunate that media and the weaponized DOJ will continue to drag him until that point.

That the only way you could mean, is something against black people. Because a bunch of stupid people couldn't think of anything else. I also grew up hearing about stuff like that. How things were safer and better. Being able to leave your doors unlocked, being able to safely sleep outside certain places, etc.
But even completely removing race. There are plenty of general things you could use. Back when when Made in America was all over. Back when our money wasn't so worthless. Back when we had standards and morals. Back when we had that community. Back when we weren't so openly degenerate. Back when everything wasn't race, gender, etc. 24/7 everywhere. Back when I didn't have to worry about all these people creeping on kids. Back when people actually had pride in this country. I mean there is plenty of things you could want to see Again.
