Not even just the politicians. Imagine being told by an average white person that because of your skin color; you're uneducated, oppressed, and a victim - all the while hearing that you *need* their help to succeed - regardless of your own personal success, and their lack thereof.
The same people who claim to hate racism are the ones perpetuating it. The way the leftists/progressives treat "minorities" is not the way you treat someone you genuinely view as an equal. It's more like how you treat a child with a disability, or a handicapped person - someone you intrinsically feel superior to, and therefore exorbitantly pander/cater them in order to feel like you're a good person.
It'd almost be funny if it wasn't so problematic, and if they weren't so close-minded to the point where they adamantly believe they are 100% correct and are vehemently resistant to any discussion on the matter.
The more "open-minded" party, my ass.

It is great to see young people assert control over their lives rather than let political leaders gaslight them. But let's remember that political leaders only tell us what they think they want us to hear. If we want to be told lies that will soothe us, that's what they will do. If we want to be told the truth, that's what they will do. But we are constantly asking our elected representatives -- both democrats and republicans -- to lie to us. So we shouldn't be surprised that lying to us is exactly what they do.
I'm white, by the way. So I obviously have a different experience. But like any other human being, I like being lied to. I like being told that nothing that ever happened to me was my fault. That I am perfect and that I deserve so much more than I have but I don't have it because of something someone else did. This is what the republican party told me my whole life. They told me that I'm struggling and I'm poor because the democrat government only cares about helping black people. I didn't want to hear that the circumstances that I live under are mostly a result of decisions that I have made in my life. Point is, both parties do this to us.

These are the people I listen to when I want to know the truth about things. These people to me show what mlk said about wanting his people to be known by their character not race. They are teaching to bring up the character and get away from the race.

Sowell is a legend but he should have been more specific about saying "whites didnt have a history of slavery" The whole world has a history of slavery including Europe. The term "slave" comes from the ethnic group called Slavs who are white eastern European people who were raided and enslaved. . Slavery existed across Europe and the world for thousands of years.
The early colonialists in the US (and before US) sent Irish slaves, and various white slaves from Europe.
White Europeans were enslaved by empires like the Romans, other white ethnic groups like the Vikings, and they were enslaved by other empires, like the Arab/Muslim empires that raided eastern Europe for white slaves, and the Moors of North Africa who took white European slaves for hundreds of years. Mongols took white slaves. Slavery was normal in every culture on earth. Countries like Australia were built on the backs of white slaves.
In the 1700's era in Britain, even if you were a free worker, you could be enslaved at any time. Not only if you broke the law, but if you couldnt pay a debt, the punishments were harsh, you became a slave to the state, and the state sent you to work in the colonies for 20-30 years to pay off your "debt"
You can look up any culture or race from history, and slavery was a normal part of the culture. Not only slaves as workers, but sex slaves, concubines, slavery took many forms. Look up any people group, Chinese, Egyptians, Arabs, native tribes, Phoenicians, Assyrians, Ethiopians, Romans, slavery was normal in every culture in history. Some groups like Indian (Hindus) even have slavery built into the religion, Where if you were born into the lower caste, your only purpose in life was to serve the higher castes and do all the dirty and dangerous jobs. In India today, its still common for higher caste Indians to refuse to touch people from the lower caste, or even talk to them, through fear of being "contaminated". They are often called "the untouchables"
The modern woke idea that only black people experienced slavery and only white people (europeans) are responsible for slavery is a huge lie. Slavery was normal in every culture on Earth. It was so normal even the Bible, Quran, Torah, Vedas condones it. .Africans and other native tribes were fighting and enslaving each other long before they saw a white man. Even today in 2024 slavery still exists in Africa, Middle East, and Asia.
In the Middle East, slavery was still legal until the 1970's. (Saudi Arabia 1962, Oman ion 1970) Today in the Middle East black people are still commonly referred to as slaves or "abid" in Arabic
Its puzzling that people in the west are calling for retribution and reparations for slavery, when their own people are still committing slavery today around the world. Its puzzling that social justice warriors in the west are still ignoring slavery and all the other real atrocities happening around the world.
Great video, Thomas Sowell is a truth teller.

@tubester4567 I agree. I live in Montgomery, al and we have a lynching Memorial here for black people but I have challenged our political and city councils questioning why we're the enjoyed who were lynched standing up for the blacks weren't acknowledged? It was funny a year prior to the memorial being built , our newspaper wrote an article about the whites who were lynched but building the black lynching Memorial was built to bush that information up. Montgomery is to be a unified respectful City but when certain political who are still in office divided our city to conquer, it has caused it to be a divided failing city. Things that Sowell and others talk about I see happening in my city over the years.
Anthony Johnson was a black slave owner, but it was through his actions that legalized slavery. No one wants to talk about that.
There was a black slave owner in Virginia who breeded his slaves and sold the offspring, and he was the worst slave owner, but no one wants to talk about that.
Slavery goes back to the Bible times, so it's always been in existence.
I admire Martin Luther King who is well represented in our city but when you talk to alot of the blacks here, they don't back him. Like officer Tatum and others say they focus on the race, not the character.

    • @dalmac5978
      @dalmac5978 10 місяців тому +1

@@tubester4567 It’s not a “modern woke idea”, and there’s no “only”. You’re repeating talking points. In this country slavery was very much based on race through a fundamental belief in white supremacy, that the black race was inferior to the white race. The racism was baked into the American institution of slavery. Thomas Sowell won’t say that, he talks around that, he uses anecdotal stories that he (incorrectly and dishonestly) generalizes to try to convince people that slavery wasn’t race based. So let’s be clear, there have been numerous versions of slavery in various civilizations throughout human history, and most were not race based, but the institution of slavery developed in this country. None of what has happened elsewhere, and continues to happen across the globe, changes what the facts about the despicable version of slavery that existed in North America.

      @cherylrobinson7876 10 місяців тому

@tubester4567. If you have done your research and it sounds like you have then you know the uniqueness of the slavery that occurred in the U.S. The uniqueness of demoralizing people pulled from their place of origin and intentionally treating them as less than human. If you are an intelligent person you will understand this. They castrated black men for looking at white females. Let that sink in. While they made them watch their wives get raped and have children by them. Please understand “slaves” across the world were not treated like this. I am no where near “woke”. And I certainly don’t believe that reparations are in order. We must move forward. And I believe we have everything we need to do that. But we cannot deny the psychological struggle that occurred and was past on to other generations. I see it. You see it. Hard to admit. It’s not assigning blame. It’s recognizing there is still work to be done to heal.

*Top 10 Highlights about Thomas Sowell* 🇺🇸 Many dub this man a "national treasure." Often in the comments section. And he actually is. He is unparalleled:
*1* - Born in 1930 into true poverty in segregated Gastonia, North Carolina.
*2* - Adopted by his great-aunt since his father died shortly before his birth and his mother (a maid) couldn't take care of a 5th child alone. She died herself not long after.
*3* - Grew up in NYC (Harlem) where his cousin, introduced him to the NYC library and he grew to become an absolutely voracious reader and student of the world.
*4* - U.S. Marine Corps (drafted during Korean war w/ honorable discharge)
*5* - Night school at Howard University
*6* - Harvard University (BA) w/ magna cum laude
Note: "The principle benefit of a Harvard degree is never again having to be impressed by anyone with a Harvard degree" --Sowell
    *7* - Columbia University (MA) - economics
*8* - University of Chicago (PhD) - economics
*9* - Studied under Milton Friedman
*10* - Was a self-avowed Marxist into his 20s, and Democrat voter until 1972 when he switched to Republican. He first caught national traction during the Reagan years. Although I would say he is neither right nor left; he is himself. He is not tribal; he is honest.
*11 Bonus* - Tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1948
While the above certainly impresses, what really impresses is listening to this man directly! There are countless hours to be found of him online. He is among the most cool-calm-collected in the public arena today. In my opinion. A legit individual. He thinks for himself. Always has. But, yes, he is an intellectual titan - the breadth & depth of his knowledge -- in history (both domestic and world), economics, and sociology is staggering. But above all he is NOT the typical academic man mired in intellectual vanity, preening himself in his credentials, contributing nothing to the real world. There's a sense of authenticity and wisdom about the man. This is what stands out above all else - a lifetime of Character. And humility. I suppose, after all, one doesn't go from studying Marxism and carrying its banner to becoming an American liberatarian-conservative thinker without a truly introspective sense of humility.
This man is truly presidential. There are very few on his level. If it sounds like I'm singing his praises it's because he is praiseworthy. Sadly he is 93 (I think) and won't be around for much longer. Will be a major loss for this country and although I've never met him I will miss him. Straight up - he's the fckng man.

I live in south Mississippi. My daughter went to nursing school around 15 years ago, and became good friends with 2 black classmates. They have worked together at 2 facilities . The 2 black nurses started travel nursing for 6 months. They came back home and went back to their previous job with my daughter . They told my daughter they would never leave the south to go to the north to work again. They said they had never run into racism until they traveled north to liberal states. They said they were the meanest nastiest people they ever tried to help . I'm 55 and went to my neighborhood school with around 60% black and 40% white in the 70s. There were no racial problems . We all lived in the neighborhood together, and our parents knew each other. 99% of both black and white students came from 2 parent households. We never thought of race all we thought about was going out at recess to play with our friends. We were taught true American history about slavery and not the author or the movie (Roots ) version by Alex Hailey who admitted giving people a myth to go by . During black history month we learned about black inventors and doctors who changed history. Black Americans who wanted to make their country and fellow citizens lives better. People who had pride in their country . Life was simple back then. Parents taught their kids that their actions have consequences. They taught their children to respect everyone and their country. I've been told all of my life being from the south that we're racist . We are portrayed in movies as stupid or slow because of our accent . If you ask me and the kids I went to school with, we lived in the best place in the best time. We were allowed to be kids without having an agenda shoved on us at school. God bless.

I always find it interesting how under the radar he seems to be. He's been a prominant economist and popular proffessor at ivy colleges for over have a century here in the states. His work is covered in most economics 101 college classes. He has been appearing on talk shows of this nature or another since before color television.

@jakeroon There's no secret to why most folks haven't heard from Thomas Sowell. The left controls the media in the United States. They REFUSE to give a platform to a man as brilliant as Mr. Sowell who has opinions, based in fact, that are in DIRECT opposition to the false narratives they have been forcing down our throat for decades! It's like wondering why The View doesn't bring Ben Shapiro on to discuss politics. They know they'd be canceled the next day! Facts and truth are like holy water and a cross to leftists.

As a 65yr old black man, I want to strongly encourage you to research Dr. Sowell. His books are very well researched and his analogies are tailored for the average person to understand. I like his book titled "Intellectuals and Society." The premise is these liberals and progressives create many ideas for governments that simply do not work. And for their failed ideas, they experience no consequences... unlike an engineer that creates a new car, sells it, and it does not work. Also, "Black rednecks and white liberals." You can find audio books on youtube.

At 94 years of age and still strong....GOD BLESS. As a Middle Easterner I must say that Thomas Sowell is one of the few greatest American thinker, educator, and a philosopher in the 21st century. I've listened to him many, many times and I've learned so much. God bless this man, a true all American hero and a true national treasure. It all begins at home... "...The Hand That Rocks The Cradle," he had good, moral upbringing. Beyond the doubt he had good parenting who instilled into him hard work, honor, integrity, character, respect,...etc just an all around well reared human treasure. The "left" hates him, because he tells the truth and dismantles the left's narrative and backs up his arguments with real facts, and so the "left" hates him for it with a passion, nevertheless, the "left" continues to spew lies to keep the "minorities" in darkness in America. Unfortunately, there's always a fool who hasn't done his/her homework and so the "left" keeps at it. The question is... why does the "left" do these atrocities to people? The answer is...because some people are very gullible, and those who are power hungry take full advantage when they see a weak point or a vulnerability in groups of people so that they can use for control and self gain. Deep within the human sub-conscience there's an insatiable desire for greed, avarice, and power, it's one of the oldest stories in the book. It's everywhere in the world, not just America.

Man I would LOVE to be sitting in the room with you guys when you watch this stuff. Different perspectives are so good to have around you when you're learning. I am white, live in Canada and I'm old (well 56). Of those 3 things I think my age would be the most valuable to a conversation like yours. There is a perspective that age brings that I think would really add to the wonderful experience that I've been watching you guys have over the past year and a half (or so?), since I've started watching y'all. Consider grabbing a thoughtful elder, that you know, one day to join you. It might not work or it could really add to your experience... who knows, right?

Without a doubt one of the most brilliant people alive. He's been called a national treasure, and he is. I literally have every book he has written, both audio or book form, some both. I listen to his books all the time. I really like your review of him. It provides me with a great perspective of the thoughts of others. We have a whole lot more in common than most of us think.
