I believe politicians, especially on the left, are encouraging this culture because it keeps them in power. Using the welfare system to allow people to just get by, by making their failures to achieve acceptable , but still keeping a need for the government to help these people financially keeps them voting for what they believe is helping them, when it’s really not. They’re being used.

If a child respects their parents, then they follow the rules. If they don't respect them, then they don't. We are also failing as a society to teach this basic lesson to our kids (I have been a public school teacher in title 1 high schools for 16 years). It really is about respect and priorities.

The one thing I've always noticed missing in parenting is parents talking to their children. Being honest, straightforward, be able to articulate, warn them of the issues and instill in them values. These are things I learned on my own after seeing the world for what it is. Talking to your kids goes a long way. I enjoyed the last ten years with my dad because we talked even though on some things we disagreed. We talked.

She's been married and divorced 3 times. I've been married 3 times.
Parents need to get over themselves and pour themselves into their kids at least until they're done with high school.
My sister and I didn't become alcoholics but we definitely drank to fit it.

But Brandon is right, the parents are responsible for training their children in the way they should go. Yes, it is still up to each individual to be respectful, kind, and considerate of the next person, but if you don't have the proper training, a good example in your parents, and you're living a disobedient life, you are a huge part of the problem. No matter your upbringing you should strive to be the best YOU that you can be. Admitting your own faults in each situation is a valuable start to righting the wrongs of your past. Ok, climbing down off my box now.

Not really, im not old but i think back in the day it was harder to live, the community created a culture that able to put money back into the community, heck till this day 50 cent inspire me the fuck out, from drug dealer to VitaminWater investor? Crazy. But somewhere along the line, the culture made it cool to act gangsta, to talk a certain way, and young kids notice theyre making money so theres no need for education, heck every kid in the world knows they study to get money, but if theres another outlet that can possibly make them money then why do they need to study? I listen to rap till this day, Im not gonna lie some gangsta rap I do like it like casanova, it gets you in the mindstate to be agressive to work towards something, but at the same time certain upcoming rappers have no choice but to put in work in the streets to able to rap the things that they be rapping.

And his Defendent also said ( Young Black gentleman) He too was beaten and robbed by his friends' and talked down to. He'd gotten a good education as well and thought the same as Mathis, come back to community and give back Encourage black folks to do better because that's what they're told, Right? uplift and support your community? But they don't want it. They're called an uncle Tom and everything else. Kind of cool to see Mathis and the young man connect. And if it happened to them, you know what's happening a lot more everywhere else.

Yep. The key is to be consistent, and to teach consequences. The biggest problem that causes people to spiral down the path to petty crime, gang membership, addiction, etc is that they don't get taught the proper expectation of consequences for their actions. For example, one of the best things you can do with a kid is giving kids a small allowance early on for behaving well and doing chores. Just making the kid learn buyers regret and budgeting with their allowance teaches wonders.

I'm a born again Christian, got saved in jail. I was a hell raiser as a teenager. I always tell people I was raised by the music I listened to, (gangster rap, punk rock, etc.) because it had the greatest influence on me. How I thought, who I aspired to be like, the choices I made.. were all shaped by what I listed to. My parents were out doing there thing and I was left to myself doing my thing. I'm white and grew up in a predominantly white city, I didn't learn to treat women like hoes and how to slang rocks and hate the police by any other means than the whole music culture. Eventually I went to jail, had an encounter with Jesus and began the process of growing up. First thing I did when I got home was throw away all my music.
And guess what music I started listening to? Worship music. Music became about my expression of my love and thankfulness to my God and Savior. The mind is a battlefield and music is a powerful thing.
"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." - Ephesians 5:19
That whole chapter speaks on these things.

@strklo I understand. The point I'm making is that there was nobody in my life to raise me and teach me right from wrong, so the biggest influence in my life was music, friends, and the police that actually took time to sit me down and give me what for. Music has a major influence on people, just look at how every single high school generation ends up wearing and copying whatever all the celebrities are wearing. You see it from 50s 60s 70 80s 90s up to today. Kids idolize these people and whether they consciously realize it or not, they are influenced by them, especially if there is no positive role model in there life.

Jesus is fake dude, glad u got sometin amazing out of it, but religion is false, I was a Christian for 30yrs , Jesus is not real, there are nice lessons to learn from the new testament, but the spiritual part of it is false, big time, a virgin giving birth, someone raising from the dead after 3 days all false, is it not strange how the only option you have in believing in God, is to trust man 100% 😅😅 a god can can do all things expect give evidence of his existence in the first place

I love how real this entire discussion was. I know y’all are always genuine, but this is one of the most raw and genuine discussions I’ve seen y’all have, and I LOVE IT!! I think there are a lot of valid points, and I think all of you are all speaking truth about parents trying, and sometimes children still end up messed up. I loved when we talked about children out of wedlock and how it’s an easy formula to follow; obviously, it’s all easier said than done. GREAT reaction!

Parenting is most important in the early years of the child. 2-8yrs old is when you as a parent need to lay a good foundation for your child to grow from. Teach them good morals and values. Discipline your child early on so they understand that there is consequences for their actions. If you don’t do these things early on it will not be possible as they get older. Parenting is very important!

Charleston may appear radical and ott, but that is an act. He wants to change his community and he's been an activist since he was a teen, but he learned early that in order to get your message through, you need to be controversial. (and it is imperative that he goes hard and gets it into the minds of kids, cause LIVES are on the line!)
    That's what he is!
    Well done, Mr. White!

I’m Hispanic, but I also had a big “home alone” window after school before my parents got home. I think what really makes the difference is the parenting, my brother and I would get home heat up our food, clean the kitchen, do our homework, watch cartoons, or in my case read and listen to the radio and play some video games till our parents got home. Never did anything crazy never brought people over and our parents didn’t have to beat us for us to follow that rule. 🤷‍♀️
