Once the mags are "broken in" a little, immediately hitting the push mag release with your trigger finger (I'm right handed) to instantly let the mag drop then quickly pulling the charging handle to reload makes the process that much faster and easier. What handguard and vertical foregrip is Josh running on the Century AP5-P? It looks like the Midwest handguard, but I can't tell what VFG that is and I really like the fact it doesn't have that front hand stop lip on it.
My experience was limited to a friend’s HK94, which I remember as being really nice (minus that it had a 16in barrel). But this was in the 90’s and memory could be skewed since I followed up with an absolute(16in) brick of an UZI; Operation Wolf style stock. A year ago I had the chance to try a suppressed, SBR’d, PTR 9KT with a suppressor and binary trigger….. that was an awesome little pew….. it had a B&T stock, but it wasn’t that cool little telescoping one.
Love my 90's style A2 stock SP5. Okay, I added a T2 because my eyes are crap, but other than concealability I don't think the K beats it. YMMV Josh, you need to man up and run yours in USPSA. I have a blast with mine. :-)
I got my Scorpion in 2016 just before "cheap" MP5 started coming in. Regret not waiting but I wanted to SBR it before the Obama regs changed the process. I plan to sell it to fund an MP5 build.
Had a wobbly rear sight on my Century MKE MP5. Rather than deal with customer service I just bought a PTR MP5 rear sight and put it on and it's been great since. Overall I'm happy with my MKE MP5 clone for what I paid for it ($1100). It's been 100% reliable and runs great, but fit and finish is nowhere near a real H&K SP5.
@@heisman01 you probably don't know how to operate MP5. Also short MP5k was always a problematic design. That's why it didn't sell as well as a full size MP5.
@@heisman01 MKE had a bad run of ejector levers. If you were having failure to eject problems, putting in a HK ejector lever is the first thing I’d try. You will also need a new extractor spring, those can get borked if the extractor gets forced open in a jam. You can check the extractor tension with your thumb. It should be pretty hard to move. If you shoot suppressed I’d also change the locking piece. MKE is putting in 110 or 120 degree LP and you will end up with receiver dents. The B&T stocks and SB Tactical braces also need their lower pin lug relieved. For some reason both use a solid lower lug and the hammer strut can hit this and it will cause failure to ejects. They are mostly good guns and you should be able to get yours running. Reddit has a pretty good MP5 forum or you could try asking for help on HKPro.
The blue tape is “cloning” 22 SAS’ protocol of marking uniforms and pieces of gear with either blue or red identification to identify Red and Blue Squadrons. One place they did that was the MP5 magazines. If you look closely you’ll see blue or red electrical tape on the mags or around the gas mask filters.
I think it was the ap5 that people were sayin they have a long break in period with range ammo. I was really close to getting one a while back when atlantic had em for 1000 with a cardboard box n one mag n nothin else.

I bought an American-made Zenith ZF-5 about two years ago. I looked at an H&K-made SP5 at my LGS, and I just could NOT see a $3,200 gun. I love H&K's guns, but I outright despise them as a company. $3,200 for a semi-auto only MP5 is just laughable. Unfortunately, I had no interest in buying an MP5 clone from a country that hates America. So that ruled out the Turkish and Pakistani clones. Because of that, I was getting ready to just bite the bullet and buy an H&K SP5. Then I accidentally stumbled across a review here on YT for an "American-made Zenith MP5 clone". I was shocked to see this because I understood Zenith to be nothing more than an importer of Turkish-made MP5 clones. It turns out that Zenith had opened up a factory here in the US and they now make MP5 clones right here in America. I was so excited that I nearly lit my jeans on fire yanking my credit card out of my pocket at hypersonic speeds. In all seriousness, I figured that I would buy the American-made Zenith and if I received the gun, got it in my hands and couldn't get over the mental hurdle of having a "fake" (meaning not an H&K) MP5, that I would just sell the Zenith before firing it and pay the extra $1,700 for a "real" H&K. Well, the Zenith arrived at my LGS for transfer and all I can say is that I now have TWO American-made Zeniths (the regular MP5 and I bought an MP5K clone from them as well) and I'm on the list for their upcoming G3 and HK33/43 clones as well. Just on a purely aesthetic external fit and finish level, the Zenith I got was actually NICER than the "real" $3,200 H&K SP5 I looked at in my LGS. And never once have I picked up either one of my Zeniths and thought "man, I really wish this said Heckler & Koch on the side of it". Moreover, I got TWO MP5 clones (the MP5 and MP5K) for the price of just one H&K SP5. I don't have any relationship with the company or anything like that. But I try to encourage anyone who is looking into getting an MP5 clone to at least consider an American-made Zenith over one that was made in countries that hate America (like Turkey or Pakistan). Especially because I think a lot of people don't realize that Zenith is now making all of their firearms right here in America. They are no longer an importer of Turkish-made clones. It may not be a big deal to anyone else, but that was a big deal to me when I made my decision.
Don't get me wrong I love the MP5 but after getting the CMMG Radial Delayed Blowback 9mm I sold all 3 of my MP5's. I'm back on building up My Stoner AR-15 Modular Weapons System. The Ergonomics and manual of arms just can't be beat by anything on the current market.
In this day and age, I'm not sure if either is "worth the money". I'd say only if you want the "real deal" and it's that important to you. At this point the PCC/SubGun has been refined well beyond the MP5....With that said, even I still want an MP5SD.
If you want to sell it at some point than yes that hk is worth the investment. If all you do is shoot paper and trash than it’s a waste of money. Just buy the cheaper clone.
It's called "roller delayed, blowback operation." We ran the MP5 for CQB training my first years in the Corps and I wouldn't trade any of mine for anything on the market. I zero a full size at 50 yards and have dug a 124 grain FMJ NATO out of a 2x4 at 300yards with these. Don't let the naysayers fool you. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
After buying a SIG MPX-K, CMMG Banshee 45, HK SP5K and BT APC45 Pro, they are all excellent, reliable weapons. The SIG is solid with no drawbacks especially for people familiar with the AR platform. Because it is not aluminum, it feels thicker than HK and BT, but that is simply buyer preference. CMMG has shown more wear and tear and has much more noticeable recoil. The HK is a work of art. All the videos that go on and on about the difference in manual of arms (e.g. bolt not back when empty, etc.) and is simply much ado about nothing. The BT APC45 Pro is a work of art also. I cannot believe it has no noticeable recoil, especially for a 45. We are blessed to live in a time with such great choices. Save your money until you can buy the original versus a clone, you will not regret owning the original. After watching about every available video on these models, my journey is over, and I am a very happy owner of these great tools of liberty.
its not the Export Laws of Germany that are the problem here. Germany exports guns all over the world and people overseas are able to buy full auto versions of german guns. Its the Import Laws of the USA that made HK very careful not to sabotage their US business. Most "problems" with HK in the US are results from the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban and the "threat" that the US would do something like that again. HK just dont want some US legal fuckery messing up their business. Guns like the SL8, UMC etc are designs for the US market.
I've had my PTR-9c for a number of years and thousands of rounds now and replaced an extractor spring only to find out afterwards not to test cheap ammo through it. That's respect for your gun. Another good thing about it is I don't trust my Holosun DRS-NV (Night Vision) optic on any other pic rail because of how strong that rail is mounted and how expensive that night vision red dot is. Just my two cents. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
That's a misconception I've heard before. Their's don't look too heavy, and I run 30's with dual mag clamps. I own two full size and two k-models and wouldn't trade em' for ANYTHING. The Franklin Armory BFSIII HK-C1 gives the double-tap (when used right) that we used as Special Duty Marines in CQB training that now I believe is conducted with the carbine style M4/A1's. The configuration capability isn't as expensive as most think either. Henry and James Williamson from Teufelshund Tactical know their stuff on these. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
@@SD-gt5kc it is pretty awesome. Bought a PTR 91 a few months ago and as soon as I shot it, knew I had to get a real one. Gonna keep it in good condition and use the PTR as a beater lol.
If you buy anything other than HK, you are throwing money down the drain. Remember you get what you pay for. Century and the other companies who make these are so not worth the money. Trust your life to HK.
Conceal carry and price are biggest problems with PCC, especially with SP5 clones. In $1500 to $3000 range one could get an excellent 2011 Handgun in 9mm with 20+ rounds magazines. The MP5 purpose was high rate of fire to clear rooms for SWAT and special forces using armor piercing 9mm. For civilians both full auto and piercing 9mm are restricted, making MP5 style carbines the oversized "handguns" hard to conceal, expensive and heavy. The form factor reminding of MP5K is the only cool thing about these PCCs. Yippee Ki‐Yay! :)
Cool vid, can't wait for the next one where you talk about how the AR9 makes the mp5 and this entire 21 minute discussion completely obsolescent in every way
The MP5 may be old and a little outdated, but they still work, are great to shoot and then there’s the nostalgia factor. Out of all of the dedicated smg platforms like B&T etc, you decided to go with an AR9 to compare it to?😄 I guess it depends on the use case. If you want a PCC for training with 9mm, AR9 makes sense. But if you’re looking at it from the purpose of an SMG (light, compact,…) then the AR9 loses to an MP9 or APC.
The only AR9 that has a chance of obsoleting the mp5 is something with a delayed blowback such as the CMMG Banshee. Most AR9's are straight blowback slop.
If you don't know the gun, and like anything, if you don't train with it you may just need that AR9. I'll keep all of my MP5's instead. Something really easy to master just ain't worth it to me. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
When I hear "you have the option to send it back because the QC isn't really there", that is such a turn off. I am surprised to hear that in reference to PTR.
Just ordered one. Blew my budget big time but it was now or never. Hope it’s worth it
Love my 90's style A2 stock SP5. Okay, I added a T2 because my eyes are crap, but other than concealability I don't think the K beats it. YMMV Josh, you need to man up and run yours in USPSA. I have a blast with mine. :-)
I have a POF built mp5 and mp5k clone. Both reverse stretch, made on HK tooling, crappy finish but love them things
That a Walther P99 in Henry’s holster?
I've read on the internet that MKE has issues, but the ones I've shot were reliable and accurate.
Henry when are you getting an MP5SD?
interestingly, recent ap5-p came with the copper extractor spring
I bought one about 2 years ago at this point and it had honestly been the absolute worst gun I've ever owned.
@@s0x18840 yep got Ap5 full size 3 month ago. Came with copper extractor too. I had zero issues with extraction. Shooting 124gr
@@heisman01 you probably don't know how to operate MP5. Also short MP5k was always a problematic design. That's why it didn't sell as well as a full size MP5.
@@s0x18840 got Ap5 3 month ago, it came with copper spring. 300 rounds so far , zero extraction issues with 124gr ammo
@@heisman01
MKE had a bad run of ejector levers.
Serious question guys: Why are the blue Tape mags firing real rounds, not blanks????
The blue tape is “cloning” 22 SAS’ protocol of marking uniforms and pieces of gear with either blue or red identification to identify Red and Blue Squadrons. One place they did that was the MP5 magazines. If you look closely you’ll see blue or red electrical tape on the mags or around the gas mask filters.
And here I was trying to make a Die Hard Joke :O
Thank you Mr Cold War Shot for the info :)
My 80/90’s nostalgia will always love HK the MP5K pdw/HK93 n 53/G36C but with the reality of money any 12-10.5 ARP/Extar EP9 will do 🤣
can you do a link to the video where you do the german parts?
Not sold, Henry. Is it m-lok & does it take glock mags?
I love my sp5. Sbred it well worth it
HK - no compromise.
^^this
I want a full size MP5, not the K. So when H&K sells the civilian version, I'll get it for the brand
It's the HK SP5 and has been out for a few years now. I'll let you do the price comparisons. If you're an HK purest it won't shock you.
Just got MP5K SBR approval in only two days!
One thing that is nice; All H&K are the same manual of arms.
If you use the push button mag release right on these MP5's it's faster than you think. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
I think it was the ap5 that people were sayin they have a long break in period with range ammo. I was really close to getting one a while back when atlantic had em for 1000 with a cardboard box n one mag n nothin else.
Just picked up a sp5 , got to get my stargate on.
MP5 has Less Recoil but Colt AR 9mm 10" barrel is the best in the world. It has an Indestructible bolt, much more reliable in mud, Much Lower Price, and easier to find parts. Save your money.
Yep, you pay for piece of mind that it'll shoot. I personally think the HK Sp5 is worth it.
Only HK gun I own is a Mark 23 and it is super accurate. It's so rugged and built to withstand an apocalypse.
I got an sp5 and mark 23 and they are amazing wish I had an mp7 tho
Paying 3,000 dollars for a gun for the peace of mind that it will shoot. Lmao this hobby sucks.
@@EldritchMadness It does, I'm already 30-35k in. I'm cooked.
I just bought an SP5 2 days ago. Can't wait to get it!
Congrats!
are those M04 pants indigenous FDF or varusteleka production? i didnt like those finnish army issue pants because the rip really easily.
I wanna see a range talk with the Auto Ordinance Gold Tommy Gun.
If you want to sell it at some point than yes that hk is worth the investment. If all you do is shoot paper and trash than it’s a waste of money. Just buy the cheaper clone.
My HK SP5 touch my hands everyday.
Die Hard is the only real reason to get an AUG or an MP5.
@14:40 you didn't do the "HK Slap". Blasphemy!!!!
Could it be that the reason they are so shootable is because they were designed to be manageable in full auto?
My HK sp89 had a paddle mag release
its not the Export Laws of Germany that are the problem here.
I had to swap many hk parts to get my ptr to work properly
I've had my PTR-9c for a number of years and thousands of rounds now and replaced an extractor spring only to find out afterwards not to test cheap ammo through it. That's respect for your gun. Another good thing about it is I don't trust my Holosun DRS-NV (Night Vision) optic on any other pic rail because of how strong that rail is mounted and how expensive that night vision red dot is. Just my two cents. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
Die Hard was made years before "ban era".
7:15 Oh boy, this will trigger the HK fan boys…
I want to love MP5's, but the internet doesn't tell you that they are heavy as a 16" AR, and the stock trigger sucks. They need to be full auto.
Yeah, that palm at you is for when you get shot in the hand.
Bless both of your hearts :-)
Salute 🫡 awesome video
cmon guy, u said the ptr is better than an mp5.
I’m lucky to own an original HK94
Nice. I just bought an SP5K a few weeks ago. I walked into gun shop today, ended up walking out with an HK91 🤦♂️
@@Catgat37very nice congrats hk91s are awesome too.
Ehhhh unless its select fire, isn't an APC a better choice?
HK-Slap?
“Daunting” really… it was really “daunting” 🤦♂️
CZ Scorpion!
Out of all of the dedicated smg platforms like B&T etc, you decided to go with an AR9 to compare it to?😄
I guess it depends on the use case. If you want a PCC for training with 9mm, AR9 makes sense. But if you’re looking at it from the purpose of an SMG (light, compact,…) then the AR9 loses to an MP9 or APC.
Their weight and length are about the same depending on the models
The only AR9 that has a chance of obsoleting the mp5 is something with a delayed blowback such as the CMMG Banshee. Most AR9's are straight blowback slop.
If you don't know the gun, and like anything, if you don't train with it you may just need that AR9. I'll keep all of my MP5's instead. Something really easy to master just ain't worth it to me. Semper Fi.🇺🇲
Save your money. Buy a Zenith.
I got my MP5 clone because AR9s suck.
Wait. Here in belgium i can just buy a mp5
10,000 suppressed rounds through my AP5-P with no issues. Also added a Hoffman super safety (IYKYK). Most fun gun I own.
Have to manually rack the bolt back in order to do a maagzine change is a deak breaker for me
When I hear "you have the option to send it back because the QC isn't really there", that is such a turn off. I am surprised to hear that in reference to PTR. I have a PTR 32, that while naturally heavy, is the most amazing rifle. So reliable and unbelievably accurate with Tula even though it's 7.62x39.
Definitely wouldn't buy it from Midway. It will come with rust all over it 😂
No love for the Pakistani mp5s?!?
Josh get your drip outta the way! We can't hear you!
Henry looks like a Chad, while Josh is definitely putting out virgin vibes.
This is why I got a POF
