Honestly, don't you agree this game is way too repetitive and simplistic in terms of options during your turn? You can only play 1 of 2 abilities each turn, and the other 2 only once each. This really killed the game for us because you're doing the exact same thing every turn.
I TOTALLY get that! I felt like there was a little more going on, but it is certainly on the lighter end!
Do you think Arena: The Contest will be re-released sometime down the road? Or go to retail? It looks so great with all that juicy story content! Thanks for the playthrough, Colin!

The first time I played I was super careful with not using my heroic abilities and special attacks, it was definitely a mistake. I think use them often is the way to go!

I love how excited you get from stuff like this. I mean, I totally would too. Sometimes these playthrough videos for board games on YT are so "matter of fact" / here's the rules / this is how it works. Like they are presenting it rather than playing it... you can really tell you're playing and having fun with this.

That Angelic voice skill. Here's how it works, she start singing about how stupid the orcs are and how ugly they are, the heroes will start laughing like crazy which heals one hero because they forgot about their wounds, or gets hastened because of the joke on the orc, and the orc will get his feelings hurt aka the 5-7 damage. (No offense to any orc out there, I'm just talking about the enemy group of orcs in this video!). Hope that's explain how this skill work :D

@@shannonsmith9316 I don't have any links but on the Kickstarter campaign page, one of the pictures says that the add-ons/everything from the first campaign will be available during the late pledge.
Also on the comments section, this question has been asked too many times, and the answer was the same "it will be available after the KS ends" and they asked the designer about the pricing for those add-ons and his answer was something like "We can't say for now but we will let everyone know around the time the KS ends, but we will make the pricing fair" so there's that :) Also The rumors about the pricing are that it would be very close to the original prices from the first Kickstarter.
Hope that helps, nothing set on stone for now but the designer themselves confirmed the information on the comments section :)
Also keep in mind, the 3D walls will be bundled up with some new heroes, that's how it was sold during the first KS. And there's a suggestions for an option to buy the walls without the heroes, and the designer didn't confirm that (or maybe they did and I missed it? It's a big campaign so kinda hard to keep up with every comment lol) But they will look into an option like having wall sets sold separately I think.

Is the PvE mode of play robust enough to justify the cost of the game? From what I have seen it seems super basic.

I don't think I even noticed the one per turn, ends when used I wonder if I had messed it up...
Yeah it is not the most intuitive thing out there but once you understand it, it is easier to remember!
How BIG should the table be to contain this MASSIVE game? would a table 120cm x 120cm do the trick?

Normally yes but she was hastened which means no reaction attacks against her for that round!

Hello, I backed this game and can't wait to get it. I went all in on the latest kickstarter including Tanares Adventure minus the rpg stuff. I recently became aware of Wild Assent and was considering late pledging it. How does arena compare to wild assent? I saw the 5 in 5 review which prompted me to post this question. Thanks
That was Mike I only played the intro to wild accent. That being said wild assent is a coop game from the ground up so I think if you like this one you'll love that one too!!

So what’s your opinion on this game? Is it better than the other soloable games out there? If not where would you say it stands. I know the new KS is coming up and trying to figure whether to go in or not

Erik - great question! So comparing it to other solo dungeon crawlers it really depends on what you are looking for. The strengths of this game are the ease of play, there are not a ton of reactions to worry about, what cards to lose like Gloomhaven, or lots of rules like Sword & Sorcery. Also the story so far is SUPER good I am enjoying it a lot so if you are looking for that, this is your game. If you are looking for a game that is brain burn-ish, or has a smart AI system etc. I would recommend looking at Sword & Sorcery, or Gloomhaven etc. For me though as a solo game since you are controlling 4 characters I like the level of complexity here. It is certainly better than the D&D series IMO. Hope that helps!!
Have you played folklore? One of my favorite because of story and various locations you visit but doesn’t have the best combat. Based on this I’m assuming the combat is better, story is almost as good (although can’t tell if it has any CYOA type choices like folklore does) but it’s board probably means location diversity is lacking.
Also does this game have loot besides potions?
@@erikpeters7072 it does, but they come in the form of artifacts and scrolls you buy in between quests, or start the game with on one offs
