  • Here is Part 2 of the 3 part series for Arena: The Contest. Thanks for watching and see below for time stamps!
    Round 7: 1:34
    Round 8: 11:31
    Round 9: 15:55
    Round 10: 18:00
    24:47 - I believe the Blue Orc HAD to go towards a hero with the lowest HP remaining which would have been Zanac not Jade! Same distance away using basic strategy means they go to lowest HP remaining!
    Round 11: 25:34
    Round 12: 32:21

    What do you recommend Collin buying this with the 2nd KS in February or staying with Oathsworn? I play 95% solo. I do have some of my kids that could play if it's easy enough for them ages 6,8,10 that would be interested. Just not sure between the two games.

      Hey, this is Mike (not Colin). I haven't played Arena, but Colin hasn't played Oathsworn, so neither of us can say for sure how the two compare :)
      That being said, I think Oathsworn is excellent for solo play, especially since you can make some characters helpers instead of full characters to limit the fiddliness.
      But I don't think it'd be an easy game for smaller kids. The cooldown system of abilities could be a bit more complex. Oathsworn is kind of similar to Gloomhaven in terms of complication, if that helps.

    Don't worry too much about accidentally shaving off some of the corners when it comes down to playing it down to the letter of the rules, Colin. When I play solo, I play fast and loose with the rules and upkeep of all the little bits and pieces, just because it takes me out of the game otherwise and I value momentum and thematic immersion more than I do bookkeeping every rule effect exactly. And I get it - you're demonstrating/teaching the game to us, so you have a greater responsibility perhaps, but then again, we get the gist of how to play the game and if it's for us to buy/back sooo... your enthusiasm and enjoyment is a better advocate than any perfect execution of the rules. Game on!

      I agree! Plus you shorted yourself enough times that it all evens out.

    Thank you so much for this series. It really saved me some time while learning to play Arena in solo mode.
    I also feel the need for some token solution to not forget all the active effects from previous cards. I still constantly forget something :-(
    At 4:08 I think according to the rules you would have been able to push the orc out of the lava for your 3rd movement and pushing him in again for the 4th, dealing 4 more damage to him.

    I really want to love this game but rolling a D20 to get, in most cases, above a 6 just ruins it for me. I find myself getting bored of the 70% chance of success and often fail to finish a game. There is very little challenge in rolling a 6+?

    it almost feels like you need tokens to keep track of all the temporary buffs and debuffs, or is that just a result of trying to record this at the same time?

    • @HungryGamerReviews
      @HungryGamerReviews 4 роки тому +3

      Usually you just out the card w the effect on the other character card, I'm guessing that it's the recording that make sit forgettable. I found it decently easy to track when I played

      You got it recording and moving camera's around makes it a challenge! But I would love some tokens too :) Cards work but I also sometimes put my hand on the character sheet and then miss the cards effecting you.

    Isn't Inspire Greatness a Special Attack? I remembered she used it in the last part. Did I miss anything that she can use a Special Attack twice in this scenario?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  4 роки тому +1

      Great question! So inspire Presence ALSO has a permanent effect that once a round she can affect an ally in a positive way, such as giving them toughness, or blessed etc. So her special just keeps on giving. She does have to hit when she uses the attack to get the benefit for the rest of the game. It is similar to Jorana's basic attack at the end of her turn. Hope that helps!

      @@OneStopCoopShop I thought her Special gives a permanent effect. So the first time you choose the condition on your ally. And then this condition is the same during the rest of the game. So no switching?
