I love how much effort goes into producing these videos, Tommy goes above and beyond with the editing. Every interation that happened felt like Tommy was making into a movie with the effects. Especially in these drawn out legacy videos that are board stalls for so long.
I wish you explained the deck tech of each deck at the beginning. I also really enjoy when you explain why you made a certain decision, but sometimes because the camera is in the exact same position, it almost feels like you are talking to us while the game is still happening instead of doing a side interview (like a reality show or something). Hope the feedback helps, love the content.
The anti spoiler screen is a cool touch, but you may want to look into how the UA-cam algorithm affects it. I’ve heard from a lot of creators that because your watch time will just end at 2/3rds of your video UA-cam will punish you for that

@@MengusWorkshop A suggestion to avoid that outcome, Another channel i watch Neon Mushroom will often just play the third game out for funsies if the first two games are won by the same person. I think that could also help with anti spoiler (if you're ok with extra editing that is :) )
@@naton4241 They could also fill in time by showing the decks, in a deck-profile kind of way. That wouldn't really need much editing as an additional game would, I believe. Anyways, Tommi's win caught me by surprise, the screen worked.
@@naton4241 I've also seen (from Sneaky's lol costreams) the editor will add a bunch of unrelated gameplay or broadcast that's still related or interesting but fills the space of "missing" games. I don't know whether you guys would have relevant "b-roll" as easily and I don't know how well it actually does for retention over there but something I like it.

Thing I really love: how clean all of mengu's board is and how clean and smooth he is when he taps/draws/shuffles. it feels like watching a stage magician or a Vegas dealer the way he handles the physical cards.

@@dingdongs5208 Plenty of other pros aren't as clean with it. Like, it's totally clear what the board state and stuff, they just don't make everything quite as neat.
I play this match up a lot with my friends. Augur of bolas helps out big time for the early aggression, and playing 2 breath weapon in the main / 1 side helps as well. Galvanic discharge is definetely sweet as some creatures can grow above 3 toughness. Keeping a mystic around and protecting it at all costs is also something to consider as you can slowly stabilize. It's a pretty fun matchup overall and it was great to hear Mengu's insights and decisions

I love the idea of the anti spoiler screen. Several times while watching an mtg match I could tell who won beforehand just because of how long the video is. So that’s a really nice touch.
Yeah this is a nice Idea.
It's a great idea, sadly UA-cam decides to punish it because the algorithm just detects people leaving before the video finishes - and it might penalize the video OR the channel because "hey everyone left at this minute mark!"
Theres a league of legends dude that I watch that adds like an hour of a picture of a plant at the end of his video that says "anti spoiler plant" for this exact reason and I agree. His name is cadreal
A good friend of mine and I play this matchup quite a lot. (Izzet for me, W for him.) Your game played out exactly as ours typically does. Though I think Discharge may be better than Bolt in the unknown matchup, I think Bolt is better in this one. Bolt face twice for lethal would have been a line open to you. Of course, you might have lost either way, but its a line that Mono W can have trouble playing against. It felt good to know that I would have made most of the same choices as you made. Matchup is tough for Izzet! I think the reason is simple: it is a losing value proposition to 1-for-1 remove creatures that draw cards on ETB.
I love watching Mengu streams but the ones Tommy edits are the best.

The anti spoiler screen is a good concept, but there are better ways to make sure viewers watch the whole video without being spoiled. Some might have already recommended playing 3 games regardless of the result, but you can also have short segments before the games start to introduce the decks, their gameplan, and key cards in the matchup. Great games and can't wait for the next one!

anti spoiler screen is great guys! but be careful as that will destroy the video retention and take you out of the algorithm…. i love this channel and want it to succeed more than i care abt the spoiler screen… i can always just not look at the progress bar if i dont wanna get spoiled!

In: 1x fanged flames
1x breath weapon
1x annul (for journey to nowhere)
I find i don't like killing their creatures with 1-for-1 removal because you just lose the value game, and if you manage to stick a threat you can just win

You probably want to be careful about how you do the spoiler screen. If I remember correctly, UA-cam penalizes videos where users leave midway through. I know that I didn't see this video on the channel's main page and had to go to the detailed video list to see it. So, it may be wise to fill the spoiler screen with something else interesting. When Mengu played Frank on Creativity vs Burn on the Cardmarket channel (Orvar ftw :P) Carl had 15 minutes of the two of you talking about the matchup, which was definitely good enough to keep me watching. Maybe you don't want to do that specifically, but I'm sure you can come up with something you do like in the future!

Whoops, you used the YT studio editor the wrong way round and cut the video rather than the "anti-spoiler" section. It isn't the most intuitive app to use, so understandable. I can't remember if you can undo this edit or if you're going to have to reupload the original video.
