Thanks for your video, Michael. Tainted Grail was one of the first games I backed on Kickstarter and I'm really looking forward to playing it. As you say, I always had the feeling that this was rather a solo game than a game played by large groups. I'll play solo, but I have to wait - I backed the German translation and it's going to be some months till that one comes out. So I'll also save your Playthroughs until I actually can play it myself... Good to know that you do some though, cause it will save some rulebook reading 😁👍
Rüdiger Kipferl we might do more playthrough videos later, but the first videos barely spoils anything. I did that on purpose. It’s mainly showing off the mechanics.
It was great both ways! Much better than 7th Continent with 2-players, at least for me. For solo, I played 1 and 2-handed, and preferred 1-handed. Having to look back and forth between the combat hands felt like a bit of a chore. But when you have another person there, and can discuss strategy and play quickly, it's great!
Joost Nauw it’s simple and straightforward enough. Now, to be fair, I’ve never saved mid-chapter (since they are only 1-2 hours long). I imagine that would be a bit more awkward.
Hey Mike, love your reviews. From a solo perspective how do you prefer the game ? 1 character, where you can easily manage it, or 2 characters, to enjoy more of the story but having to manage 2 decks / characters?

@@CrazyFarseer it's tough at times, especially when I have a bunch of games on the docket. 1 player is easy (clearly), 2 isn't bad with my wife and son usually game to try something. 3 players is my normal weekly game night. 4 is the one I sometimes don't get a chance to try. And anything above 4? Yeah, that probably isn't happening ;)

Mark Tsundoku Pasha you can try to piggy back on the pledge of someone else. The English version of TG will probably not go to retail any time soon. Only the language editions are confirmed to go to retail at this point. This is what Marcin of AR has told us.
My KS copy finally arrived today and damn, that game is a lot! BUT in a good way! Allthough if you are short on time this game might reaaaally not be for you. It needs commitment and devotion..
After playing for about 15 hours, we are totally frustrated with the game.We play with 4 people. Story great, searching for clues/solutions in some sentences hidden somewhere random sucks. Combat random and way to hard, character development without Major effect for a long time. Yes, we thouht we are doing it wrong, but now after reading and checking we think its just bad game design. It shines at art and story...sadly not enough to keep it fun
Whispershades I played the game mostly with 2-3 characters, and even with 3 it felt a bit too much at times. I think 1-2 is best. Sorry it’s been frustrating!
I am almost at the point that I hate this game. I kept seeing Gloomhaven meets 7th continent comments and reviews. I love those games but this....this...no. The dice rolling with zero mitigation is ridiculous. The.... I will go and do this quest but then find that it’s impossible or might as well be impossible because I chose the wrong character. I die and then die again and then die and then die.....I pray to Cthulhu that sleeping gods is better. Ok one more go........but that’s it!

Sorry, but this game is only for those you like to play Boardgames alone or all players are those that like to sit next to the one playing a great Computergame. But great review, all my opinions, just with an different rating.
Dao das Brot I had an amazing time playing it two player, even when we split up. But I don’t know if I’d enjoy it much with 3 or 4, so I guess I somewhat agree with you
If I had a freind like me, I would have bought the game directly, but I was afraid that the cooldowns are just as bad as you said. I mean, they are everywhere.
@@daodasbrot4817 It's like an open-world video game RPG in a lot of ways. There are lots of sidequests. Many of them you will never find/do. But for the big quests, most of them have two ways to go - make this choice or that choice - and that will affect the overall story. I'm trying to be vague here, but hopefully that helps!

Agree fully. I cooled on this one so much. Too much grind and frustration.
