    My body is full of tattoos from a time, when I was young, self centered and addicted to new age practices. What should I say: They are now there and I will not remove them because they remind me, that we are all sinners and they show my path from darkness to light.
    I pray for forgiveness and hope that Jesus understands my past mistakes.
    My last tattoo was Yeshua on my wrist.

    I’m no Bible expert (hope to be someday) but I think God elevated the sin of homosexuality. It’s spoken about many times in the Bible. I also don’t agree with this “disgust” argument. We all sin, but we don’t celebrate those sins. Homosexuals celebrate that sin every chance they get. That was an apples to oranges comparison.

      The Greek word translated as “you” in verses 16 and 17 is plural. So when Paul said, “You are the temple of God,” he was referring to the believers as a group-the local church. The temple in Jerusalem was a sacred building dedicated to the worship of God. According to Paul, the church was the equivalent of the temple. God’s presence resided in the church, and the church was to maintain holiness. IF you believe Tattoos are a sin, then you should also believe that decorating a church with murals or anything of that matter is also a sin.. now we fall into man made laws that is not what Jesus taught. The thief of the cross was in sin his whole life till he gave his life to Jesus on that cross and was saved.

    The only difference with between the clothing and tattoos is that these are permanent. Also why change the temple of the Holy Spirit. Do we own our bodies to do whatever we want with them. Like every sin these are open doors that we ourselves as Christian could open. The perfect love of God has two parts is merciful and righteous. We can go to him and ask forgiveness for what we have done whatever sin we have committed. Even if we had marked our bodies for vanity or whatever the reason without knowledge. There’s 2 sets of believers wise and foolish Mathew 25:1-10 says there were foolish virgins who didn’t have what they needed to go with the bridegroom when he came and the door was shut. Notice virgins they were virgins like the other ones so there was a difference the oil in their vessel was the Holy Spirit living in them. Rituals dont save you but as Jesus said to nicodemus you must be born again to see the kingdom of heaven. The purpose of Jesus 2nd coming is to help a people escape tribulation and the wrath of God,

      @@MarcoTorres4given there are sins we don’t know are sin but when it’s been pointed out then we have to make a choice weather we will turn from them, repent. Forgiveness is grace by what Christ did for us. But sin with knowledge meaning we know it’s wrong and do it anyway there isn’t forgiveness until you mean it and stop doing it. God is not a genie to get forgiveness from and go back to what you were doing. Look at Israel he got tiered of their worldliness and doing as the nations did and turned from them and put them in desolations and took them from their land and said he would come after them with a sword and slay them. He did and turned to the gentiles for his name to be a people to his name. If we are guilty of one sin we are guilty of them all, for the wages of sin is death.

If you want to apply 1 old covenant law you have to stay consistent and apply all of them. But because Jesus Christ fulfilled all of them we are no longer under law but under grace (Romans 6:14). We all have fallen short anyway. Of course we shouldn't put tattoos that would dishonor God.

    We talk about sin as different things, so we compare them. But sin isn’t an action, it’s a state of ungodliness. We were born into it, not stumbled into it as an infant. You were made for the image and likeness of God, so when you don’t live up to that likeness you’ve sinned or fallen short. So comparing sin is like comparing how not like something is. It doesn’t really make sense. Sin is sin, regardless if we esteem murder as more evil than adultery. Neither represent the glory and will of God that we were created for.

    I prayed for a week before I got my tattoos, just before I left to have it done a voice made itself known to me. He said he was Gabriel and he had heard my concerns. He told me that if I wanted tattoos that I could have tattoos, that I was a separate being and not a puppet. He said, do you not have a brain? Why do you question your life and require the direction from others?
    He told me that I was on the planet to experience being a human in a body and the reason I had freewill was to express it without condemnation. He said he was always watching me and that I was doing just fine. Then the voice was gone.

    The teaching contains partial truths but oversimplifies important distinctions. While it’s correct that ceremonial laws like mixing fabrics or dietary restrictions do not apply under the New Covenant, moral principles about honoring God with our bodies and avoiding pagan practices remain relevant. The prohibition of tattoos in Leviticus 19:28 cannot be dismissed as merely cultural without careful biblical analysis.
    Let us approach such topics with humility, ensuring that our understanding is grounded in Scripture rather than personal bias or cultural norms.

    I’ve read some comments… at the end of the day, this is why we must still be in contact with God and repent always for being sinners. I think we spend a lot of time deciding what sin is a sin, and while that is important, we should be conversing with God the Father for guidance, asking Him to show us the way and to confirm or un-confirm things we’re worried about. Repentance isn’t just something we do when we remember to do it, it should always be on our mind, but not out of constant fear and guilt either

    ““Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬-‭20‬ ‭ESV‬‬
    I’m having a hard time understanding how he can so boldly say that a law not repeated in the NT is not prescriptive. Is that not like “relaxing” the law? Jesus had some strong language about this.

      [Rom 7:1-6 ESV] 1 Or do you not know, brothers--for I am speaking to those who know the law--that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? 2 For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage. 3 Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress. 4 Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. 5 For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. 6 But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
      The old law was fulfilled through Christ. Currently it is not possible to keep the old law also, the temple/tabernacle are not around anymore.

      You are right. If the matter is not explicitly stated with words, this does not mean that it is not relevant anymore. Rather, no matter is left unaddressed, not just in what we should choose to do/ not do, but also in what we should choose to prioritize/ seek first as a matter of importance. As disciples, the most important thing it to follow Christ's example (Ephesians 5:1-2) and live lives pleasing to God. Our lives should be imitations of his, and this is something that I and all must increasingly strive to grow in. Did Christ think it important to put tattoos on his body whilst he lived on earth? No. Did he call others to do so as a matter of importance? No. Instead, he called us to focus not on the outward appearance, but the heart, and giving it over to God for purification. These things do not please God, and if anyone seems to have the head space to prioritize marking their body with tattoos over living out God's word, then they are not seeking first his kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33), but merely worrying about their body (Matthew 6:25). Paul's writing to Timothy is helpful in guiding our thinking. 2 Timothy 2:4 says: "No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer." Let there be no mistake, these are civilian affairs, fruitless matters that the world makes a habit of doing. Let us focus not on these things, but on Jesus, and doing his will. Amen.

    We are made in the image of God. Our bodies are gifts from God. We are told not to defile our bodies through sin, abuse, mutilations, etc. Christ said what we do to others we have don’t unto him. Our bodies are the temples of our spirits and a temple that the Holy Spirit can dwell in if we are righteous. Tattoos may not be sinful to the degree of blasphemy, fornication, covetousness, but think about it this way: when we modify, permanently alter our bodies we are rejecting what God in His power and wisdom gave unto us and, because we are made in His image, we are altering/defacing the image of God and rejecting what he saw was Good.

      If a woman wears make up is she modifying her body and rejecting God’s perfect design for her? You have to understand why God gives us commands. He does not give us a list of arbitrary commands, do this, don’t do this. His commands have purpose. He is after our heart. If I go and get a tattoo that glorifies God by giving me an opportunity to visually display God glory or start conversations about the gospel, I don’t think God would punish me. These people spoken of in Leviticus were cutting their flesh as worship of Baal. God was after their heart. In the same way, if I get a tattoo of something worldly or for selfish or vain reasons, then yes, it is sin. You also have to consider cultures. In our American culture, tattoos were viewed as “punkish” as he said. Only gangs and bikers got them. But in other cultures tattoos are tribal and family related. Much like modesty. Here is America it is imodest to show parts of your body, but in tribes women don’t wear tops. That is a cultural difference. Be careful of classifying things as sin just because they don’t match your culture or ideals. Remember, God is after our heart.

    • @tmi9885
      @tmi9885 18 днів тому

      @ is makeup a permanent change to the body? Also, will we be resurrected and glorified with our tattoos and piercings? Like i said, it might not be sinful like breaking the 10 commandments, but to each their own, but you wouldn’t spray taint a temple if God had one erected, so question is why do it to the temples of our spirits where the Holy Spirit can also dwell? Another thing, just because it is a cultural practice doesn’t mean it is correct in the eyes on God. The people of Canaan were sacrificing children to their God, and the people you spoke of cutting and marking themselves in worship to Baal, God viewed their cultural practices and worship as sinful. God had civilizations destroyed for their practices. Why get a tattoo to use to glorify God when it is better to just preach his Gospel without altering your body? Do you think Jesus would get a tattoo just to start a conversation about God? It is important to be IN the World and not OF the World. Should we envelop ourselves in the practices of the world and cultures or do we envelop ourselves in the culture of Heaven?

    • @tmi9885
      @tmi9885 18 днів тому

      @ maybe sinful, maybe not. For me, I wouldn’t want to do things of the world and permanently mark myself when I know God will not raise me up in the resurrection with tattoos. Like to the other who said they would get tattoos as an expression to glorify God and teach the Gospel, I would rather glorify God through doing good, preaching the Gospel, ministering to people than what I personally would view as vain expressions like what Christ said about praying mighty prayers in public to be seen and doing works to be seen of people in the name of God, for “they have received their reward.” That’s me. I don’t judge those who get it or think they are evil or not Christian. I would never advise it and I would never personally get one, but I also think we live in a degraded society and I want no part in it or its cultural practices. I would rather accept the body as God saw fit to give me and try my best to do his will and repent when I sin or fail and try to do better. If sin can defile our bodies and no one can see, why would i defile by body with ink when it is a practice of culture and God would not raise me with tattoos still on.

    Reverence for the body as God's temple: The human body to be created by God and I believe it should remain unaltered. Any changes to its natural form are seen as a violation of divine intent.
    Symbol of purity and humility: Modesty, humility, and the avoidance of ostentatious decoration are essential values. Tattoos are seen as drawing excessive attention to the external self, which contradicts their ideal of a spiritual life.
    Traditional way of life: The traditions of the ancestors, who valued strictness and asceticism. Tattoos, as an element of modern or secular culture, are perceived as alien and unnecessary.
    Association with paganism: Historically, tattoos have often been used in pagan rituals and cult practices. This is yet an additional reason to avoid them in order to maintain the purity of the faith.

    • @Sergedb74
      @Sergedb74 16 днів тому

      Yes, during Jesus's ministry, they were still under the Law. Think about it, people were saved by believing in Jesus, not his death and resurrection. That is why Jesus spoke in parables. He didn't want Jewish believers in Jehovah to be condemned for not believing in Him. Most scholars don't understand this, perhaps you've heard it here for the first time. The Jews were saved like Moses and Joshua and Solomon and John and all the rest were i.e. believing in God by following the Law as best they could. Now comes the resurrection, people must believe in it, Law is now summarised by 2 main commands: love God, love people.
      That means, the Law still applies today but for good living only. We are forgiven of past, present and future sins, including tattooing but by following sin, life gets harder. However, Paul says something interesting. He said that some sins are not sin depending on your heart's intent - speaking of a saved believer, because the heart of a non believer is different. So, if you think drinking a glass of wine is sin, that will account as sin when we are judged in heaven. That could mean that there are different levels of sinning. In interpret it as, if I drink a glass of wine because I think it will increase my iron content, makes me healthier, it is not sin. If I drink 3 glasses of wine to get high, it is probably a sin. If I lie to protect someone it is not sin. If I lie to harm someone it is sin. If I get angry with someone for a good reason, it is not sin. If I get angry for no good reason, it is sin. Yet, these sins do not affect salvation. I hope this helps.

    • @letmeknow4449
      @letmeknow4449 16 днів тому

      @ so sin is not absolute but subjective based on your reasoning? Not just the fact God said not to do it? Because I thought God said that the Torah was for all generations and Jesus said nothing should be taken out or added until all is done? We still have generations and all has not been done because I don’t think we’re in the end times per revelations? And if you only need to love God and your neighbor then I would submit how do you love God if not to follow His commands? I think it was Paul that said should we sin all the more so grace can abound. No we shouldn’t. In 1john 3:4 it says sin is lawlessness and the law is Torah. And to be righteous it says in Luke- it means blamelessly walking in the Fathers commands which is Torah. There is no greater sin because sin is sin. But with that sin hasn’t changed just the way to heaven has changed. I don’t really understand how things can be taken or added to the law. It’s not up for interpretation but it’s up to what God has said. And I don’t feel we can whole heartedly with all our heart soul and mind love the Father if we don’t follow his commands that was said to be followed for all generations…

      @@letmeknow4449 Are you replying to my comment. Because if you do, you have not grasped my comment or you have not grasped the Bible. The Law is summarised by those two commandments. That means you still follow the Law but not for Salvation, for living a good life.
      You wrote,
      "so sin is not absolute but subjective based on your reasoning?"
      No one said that. I just reported what the Bible says, with emphasis on the New Testament. Yet, going back to the Old Testament, also sin is based on Intention. For example, striking a slave, one verse says that you are guilty, another verse says you are not guilty. Why? Because it was about the intention of the heart. That said,
      You seem to conflate arguments. We are not to sin but the Bible identifies what sin is not us. The examples I gave you are from the Text. Even Jesus got angry at times. Did He sin? Of course not. The Bible says that if you get angry at someone, you sin. So? Read the second part of the verse: without a cause. Paul also reports that AS BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS, not for the nonbelievers, sin now is different. As 1 John reports, we are spiritually sinless, the lost world is still in sin. That means we do not sin spiritually! We only sin physically. In my comment, it could not have been more clear, read that again. For example, if you drink some red wine to be healthy, to allow the iron to be absorbed into your body, that is not sin but if you pretend that you need to absorb that iron, that is sin. In short, you can't fake it. Same if you get angry at someone for harming your family. That is not sin because you have a good cause which could be self defence. So sin is absolute but you fail to identify what sin is biblically.

    One thing, the verse does refer to cutting yourself to make blood, but it also does actually refer to tattoos as well. That's strange to see such an obvious error from both of them.
    Also, I've heard this idea many times, where unless it's repeated in the NT, then it doesn't count. I really don't think this makes much sense. Jesus and the disciples submitted to the OT. Yes, it's fulfilled, and I don't think legalism is the right answer, but the OT is still good, and they still respected it. Also (correct me if I'm wrong), but I don't believe the Early Church ever understood law this way. This idea of tossing out anything not mentioned in the NT appears to be a fairly new development. It seems far too simplistic.
    The better way to understand whether something is applicable is to understand the historical context. For the fabric example he gives. Wearing two fabrics mixed together was a form of pagan idolatry. The Israelites were told time after time not to worship in the same way as the pagans. It's not as though mixed fabrics is the problem; it's the practice of worship that's the problem. So, when we look at tattoos, it's the same thing. The people were using tattoos as a form of worship. Is this still applicable? In a sense, yes, it is. If you tattoos a cross or Bible verse on yourself, your using tattoos as a form of worship. If you tattoo something you like on yourself, like a symbol from your favorite TV show, you are lifting up that TV show. While we don't call it "worship", that's still kind of what's happening.

    I am of the opinion that tattoos are wrong because we are created in God's image and we are a COPYRIGHT of him. 1 Corinthians 6 tells us our bodies do not belong to us and that we must honor them. I also dont like the response of saying that I unless something is repeated in the new testament it doesn't apply. I think that unless the new testament specifically says that it no longer applies, then it still does. Sexual immoraility is condemned in the new testament but the new testament nowhere specifically mentions bestiality. Does that then mean bestiality is ok now because it's not repeated? no it obviously doesn't because when the new testament authors use the term "sexual immorality" they use OT definitions and what we are told in the new testament that is no longer binding is the law of moses so we should be trying to learn what is the levitical law vs what is moral law that God has delivered as binding for all time.

    I don’t believe tattoos are inherently sinful; however, the motivation behind getting a tattoo is important to consider. If you want the tattoo to be visible, it could be seen as a form of vanity. Are you seeking attention for yourself? That’s where things can become complicated. Ultimately, this is a matter of personal conscience. What may be sinful for me might not be for you, as each person's struggles with sin are uniquely different. However, the remedy is the same. Our Lord Jesus Christ died for us, and we are risen in His image. Our Lord did not have tattoos on His body, so if we are to emulate Christ, we should strive to act and present ourselves in a way that reflects the risen Lord.

It may be a symptom of a deep-seated identity crisis, or the yearning for significance on the part of an immature believer - not understanding that their significance is who they are in God - not what they look like or how they adorn themselves. It could also simply come down to an issue of personal vanity on their part or just the desire to follow the crowd. The reasons / excuses will be many I'm sure. The answer/remedy will surely always be a closer walk with Jesus and to know Him better.

    Stopped watching at :20 seconds. I don’t think that is true at all. None of God’s words can pass away. The New Testament can clarify, amplify and fulfill the Old Testament, but everything in the Old Testament doesn’t have to be repeated again in the New Testament to be considered valid. IMO
    But I’m just a normal Joe, not a scholar.

    Translations say tattoos. Let's not introduce ambiguity to the text. I can understand the "if it's not repeated in the new testament" argument. In reality the old testament was a covenant between the Israelites and God. We the gentiles(everyone else) were not party to that agreement. However we are part of the promise to Abraham "blessing to all the nations ", that's us. Through Christ we receive the blessing of salvation and being Gods children.

      I do not see the allure of inking God's temple with graffiti. I could see where people would want to glorify God through tattoos but do it in action, not in ink. Let your voice and actions be the Glory to God, not what's on you flesh.

    The tattoo is not the sin, but the reason for getting one can be. Think of how “extreme” Jesus was with his messages: Matthew 5:28 “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.”
    What is in your heart when you get this tattoo? And then, can you trust it? I’d argue no because of Mark 7:20-23.
    Unless the Holy Spirit has given you conviction to mark on something that does not belong to you (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), which I do not believe He would, why would you? If you are a Christian, and you are considering a tattoo, I think you should ask yourself these questions:
    Would Jesus get a tattoo? (Ultimately, you are to be like him. If He wouldn’t do something, why would you?) [1 John 2:6 & 1 Peter 2:21]
    By getting this tattoo, am I doing work to further the kingdom of God, or am I doing this for myself? (Some may claim here that they get the tattoo in remembrance of God. It’s permanent, so it is always with them. To that, I argue, write it down instead. Write it down everyday. Pray your gratitude every day. Make it your screensaver. Those are active reminders that you can do everyday. Just getting a one-time thing to look at and get reminded of God seems like a copout to me. Be intentional with your remembrance and praise.) [Ephesians 4:22-24]
    Lastly, by getting a tattoo, am I creating room for myself to become a stumbling block for other Christians, or arguably worse, those who are not Christian but have their attention on Christians? (You are an ambassador for the faith. A solider for God Himself. You are carrying His name everywhere you go with everything that you do. Yes, we can fall sometimes. Yes, we’ve sinned and will sin, but don’t let someone walk away with only that part of the story. You are not your sin because God, Jesus, has made you new. You are not a sinner. You are a saint, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and you are being sanctified. You help bring others to the free gift of salvation that Jesus already has on the table waiting for them.)

    "Unless a command or law is repeated in the New Testament it is not prescriptive!". Man this is one of the craziest statements that I have ever heard from someone claiming to be a Christian and leader of the church.
    I find it interesting that Jesus himself says 39 "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me!" John 5:39. But wait Jesus, according to this man, unless it's repeated in the New Testament, which was written 30-70 years after your death it doesn't apply. Does this mean that for 30 -70 years non of the laws apply? Man we do better gymnastics the Olympic gold metal winners to justify a sin.

    • @exileenthroned
      @exileenthroned 19 днів тому +2

      Not necessarily as a challenge, but more so as a matter of curiosity, do you then think Christians should keep kosher, and be circumcised?
      It is my understanding that the Old Testament law primarily deals with distinguishing the Jew from the Gentile, and gives the former provisions to solidify this distinction. However, after the death of Christ, the Apostles opened the church to Gentiles, as Christ made it clear that his message was for them as well. And as such, they removed many of the ceremonial laws of the Old Covenants as requirements in order to allow this.
      Then the question of tattooing becomes a matter of whether or not the provision against it is a ceremonial law, or not. Leviticus and Deuteronomy largely deal with ceremonial law, but I won't pretend to be certain.

    How about be at least be sure about what you are doing before you go permanently marking up your body? Nowhere does it say it glorifies God. I don't understand why the phrase "I don't know" is so taboo in Christianity. There is still a chance God does not want us having tattoos even if these guys are correct.
    They take full liberty to tell you tattoos are ok without knowing exactly what God thinks of modern tattoos, only that PROBABLY the verse in Leviticus doesn't apply to us.

    How can a guy be so wrong. As long as it was not repeated in the New Testament then it is not a sin or prescriptive. Wow. And the fabric thing and other need to be placed into context especially of the time at which it was written. A little knowledge not properly applied can be so toxic and detrimental.

    • @menmustchangebeforekingdoms
      @menmustchangebeforekingdoms 19 днів тому

      @robertodayso9059 - What this comes down to is "Mixture", which God REJECTS from Genesis to Revelation. Because "Mixture" equals Destruction. It started in the Garden of Eden with the Tree of the Knowledge of "Good & Evil" which is a
      "Mixture" of 2 things that are not supposed to be "mixed" together, and DEATH was the RESULT.
      When you possess both "Good" & "Evil" on the inside of you, you are a "Kingdom DIVIDED AGAINST Yourself which cannot stand".
      (Matthew 12:25) (Romans 7:15-25)
      Then we see "Mixture" in Genesis 6, when the Angels "mixed" with Human women which produced wicked "Hybrid" Giants, which is why God sent the flood that DESTROYED them.
      This is why God says in the Law,
      "Do not mate two different kinds of animals." (Mixture)
      "Do not plant your field with two different kinds of seed." (Mixture)
      Do not wear clothing woven from two different kinds of thread." (Mixture).
      (Leviticus 19:19)
      This is the same reason why God said..
      "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."
      (Mixture of same Sexes), (Leviticus 18:22)
      "And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death:" (Leviticus 20:15)
      (Mixture of 2 different Species)
      "And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness," (Leviticus 20:18)
      (Mixture of Blood).
      "Tattoo's" are a MIXTURE of "man's work" (tattoo's) & "God's Work" (the body).
      This is why Jesus says in Revelation 3:15,16) ...
      "I know thy works, that thou art neither COLD nor HOT:
      I would thou wert cold or hot.
      So then because thou art LUKEWARM, and neither COLD nor HOT,
      I will spue thee out of my mouth."
      LUKEWARM is a "Mixture" of Hot & Cold.

      It's just God's good instruction to not wear anything made of wool (Animal fiber) and Linen( plant fiber) because the two do not shrink the same when washed and will not wear well. Which is why even today, you will not find any fabric in a fabric made of wool mixed with linen.
