I think the torch has been passed from David McCollough to Hampton Sides. Both are national treasures. I've read all of his books as soon as i could get my hands on each one.
I'm with you. Everything he writes is a must read.
Hampton Sides does it AGAIN :). just finished "the Wide Wide Sea". I thoroughly enjoyed it. learned alot of course. i knew a little bit about Captain Cook but to follow his 3rd voyage you really get an appreciation for the world he inhabited and the enormous accomplishments of him and his crew. The description of his discovery and conflict in Hawaii was riveting (how is this book not a movie already? :) i wish the author or someone else would publish some more about the missing pages of his journal! i need to know what happen to those pages!!
I am 100% with you. This book screams, "make me a movie!" We need to send Hollywood a strongly worded letter.
