I'm a bit disappointed this was an anti-Richard interview all around. I've got a couple of wonderful books on Richard II from decades ago that are fairly objective, but newer material on him is rare. All the youtube docs on him are about how much of a tyrant he was. What about the slights done against him up until his so called tyranny? He was perhaps a "bad" king by the standards of the day, but I think he was far ahead of his time. He's my favorite monarch and I'll be on his side, even if nobody else is.

Got a signed copy, half way through. Very funny. When I need a laugh, I go through Adrian's short vids- brilliant work.

A good interview. I ordered this book the other day and waiting on it. I also liked the differentiation Mr. Jones makes on biography and narrative biography that doesn't fall into fiction. The entire interview was interesting. Thank you.

I'm a fan of Ben Macintyre's work. The first audiobook of his I listened to (which he also reads), 'The Spy and the Traitor' kept me enthralled and hooked during a holiday in the Med' and was probably the highlight of that thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Since then I've loved 'Rogue Heroes' and 'Colditz: Prisoners of the Castle', also read by the author. 'The Siege' must surely be the most meticulously crafted and insightful account of the 1980 Iranian embassy incident put to paper. Mr Macintyre never just delivers a well crafted yet prosaic retelling of details and facts & figures (which in this case would still be absorbing). This account is his usual mix of dry, ironic humour, appreciation for the little (and large!) absurdities which crop up at the most dramatic of times, his insight into the human condition, his humane sensibility and eye for detail, whilst slowly ramping up the tension. It's gripping, funny, fascinating, exciting, and, at times, tragic. By the time the assault on the embassy takes place, the reader/listener is totally invested in the story, and has a clear profile of each of the significant players, which makes the moments leading to the incursion almost unbearably tense. I love physical books. Always have. They're beautiful things to have and hold. Therefore I feel slightly treacherous saying this, but Ben Macintyre's reading of his work delivers the icing, and fat cherry, on top of the best cake in the shop. Unreservedly recommended.

Randy Murdaugh involved himself in the Stephen Smith death. Just because Buster and Stephen were classmates means nothing. Just because Randy is a married man means nothing. Murdaugh's specialty is hiding in plain sight.

I believe the only Murdaugh that has a shred of decency is Randy ( he’s not 100% innocent) but….I think that’s why he never entered the Murdaugh web of corruption like Alex with his father… John Marvin on the other had is the cleaner and helper bee completely enamored with his name and Alex… Lizzie maybe the dark haired relative Valerie alludes to in the book because Christy definitely has Alex’s number…..

I have ordered the book. Valerie certainly is doing everything she can to promote the book --so many interviews here, there, and everywhere!

“There Is No Ethan” is a fantastic book. I read it in one go, and I really hope that the victims find healing and affirmation and the perpetrator is appropriately punished.

I picked up the book from the library as I’m currently exploring options from nonfiction/written like a novel style. I was hooked from the beginning. And I did NOT see the end coming at all. Loved this book and I’m planning to read more books by Finkel. Excellent interview by the way.

I think the torch has been passed from David McCollough to Hampton Sides. Both are national treasures. I've read all of his books as soon as i could get my hands on each one.

Hampton Sides does it AGAIN :). just finished "the Wide Wide Sea". I thoroughly enjoyed it. learned alot of course. i knew a little bit about Captain Cook but to follow his 3rd voyage you really get an appreciation for the world he inhabited and the enormous accomplishments of him and his crew. The description of his discovery and conflict in Hawaii was riveting (how is this book not a movie already? :) i wish the author or someone else would publish some more about the missing pages of his journal! i need to know what happen to those pages!!

Thoroughly enjoying Mr. Sides’ book, my fifth by the author.
