    Getting ready to do mine tomorrow, and I was feeling strong;
    until the way you said "good luck"
    Lol. No, it doesn't look too bad other than the upper bolts.
    I don't think I will be able to do it this way from the ground though, because of the angle required to get it out.
    If I misunderstood and you see this post, please correct me and spare me the troubles I made myself.
    Great explanation friend.
    Thanks

    What an excellent video--I watched it and my F150 transmission doesn't even need to be replaced! I wish everyone's DIY videos were this good. Keep up the good work!

    That is a great idea! Gotta pull one out to fix myself too. Wasn't sure if I'd have to tear the entire bottom half apart 1st....thanks brother.

    I actually have the same transmission out of a rolled f150 with a 302 5.0 efi engine and it ran and drove but I just ripped everything out of it because it was a donor car for a different project other than my current f150

    Great vid. Also it's a flex plate, not a flywheel. Flywheel is for manual trans, flex plate for auto trans.

      Really going to get that picky lol we’ll give you a pay on the back I’m sure he knows that

    • @toddmiller5322
      @toddmiller5322 2 роки тому

      @@johnworkman5121 the point was a rookie watching might not know that and we teach people proper terminology so others know what they are talking about. If said rookie were to find the flex plate was cracked and went to order one at a parts store he would be asking for the wrong part. Additionally he calls a transfer case a "rear dif" and those are not even remotely the same thing.

    Pretty sure I need a new torque converter in my 2010 F-150. This looks like a pain in the ass and probably not something I'm willing to attempt in the driveway on jackstands lol Thanks for the video however!

    3:33 mentions " that's why we scooted the rear diff back a bit? Do you mean the transfer case? and did you unbolt the transfer case to scoot it back a bit?

      When you remove the trans rod it needs to be in neutral to stay in alignment. Hope that helps

    What happens if torque converter pops out and leaks some fluid

    • @samueldemary1576
      @samueldemary1576 Рік тому +1

      Nothing, you loose fluid. Mainly you don't want it falling out onto the floor and damaging it on accident. I empty them once the transmission is out.

    • @djearthquake3409

      I would suggest using four 2 ton jack stands too put the truck on as high as possible then use a transmission jack too lower and raise the transmission if you dont have a lift you can use.

    That is not the easiest way to do that you did it the hardest way you can do it. Just remove the exhaust off and then you don't need to take the transfer case off or the flex plate it only takes about 1 and a half hours to get it out the way you did it looks like it would take all day

    • @bryanmcgregor7960
      @bryanmcgregor7960 8 місяців тому

      I just pulled mine out of an 08 F150 more less the way he described, and you're right it took all day, but I dont have to deal with exhaust problems on a rusty high mile truck. The main problems I had were the top bolts, the dipstick tube was seized in its bore, and dealing with the mounting bolts to the transfer case, which wouldnt have been any different pulling the complete unit. It wasnt too bad, and reduced the weight and bulk quite a bit which counts lots when your on jack stands working on your back by yourself. On a hoist it would make more sense alright.

      @AA-tb4ff 5 місяців тому +1

      untill "just remove the exhaust" involves breaking a stud and having to removing the manifold. Then breaking off one of those manifold bolts in the head. Then this was a lot less work.
