A business incubator is an organization that provides all the things for a business that a startup doesn't have, including but not limited to office space, networking activities, marketing assistance, help with accounting/financial management.

Just to add to this, slightly different from an incubator a startup accelerator is a program over a set period of time (usually 3-6 months) which often comes with funding attached to it to help you grow. It's quite an intense program where you'll have weekly or biweekly catch-ups with your startup cohort, many are heavy on mentoring sessions with successful entrepreneurs and investors and you are heavily pushed to validate and accelerate your product and of course, your network in the startup scene grows immensely! At least with the program, I went on I feel the progress we made in 3 months could easily have taken a year without the program. However, there are many programs popping up so make sure to check their reputation before applying.

Yes hits is nothing for business. I'm sure you even have to share the same 100MBit WiFi/Net connection with a ton of neighbours.
A building like this needs a 10GBit connection, directly connected to a backbone.

Great interview mate, thanks for bringing that to us. It’s definitely encouraging to hear that they’re open and flexible in their approach to the proposals being put forward for new and different visas in the near future. Let’s hope they take foreign investment in the kingdom as far as the ability for individuals to purchase land also. Cheers Chris.

They dream too big. I can understand that they don´t want extra poor people. But let´s say they would give out 1 year visas for people who deposit 100.000 Baht for a plane ticket/removal from Thailand and have at least 35.000 Baht montly income. That way they could be sure they could send you home anytime if you can´t afford
      to live there anymore.
By allowing people in with these conditions they could surey attract a hundredthousand people which would mean combined at least 120 million dollar per month pumped into the thai economy.

I only think Thailand will succeed with digital nomads if they skip some of the rules they have talked about.
It should it should just be possible with some sort of deposit - and prove on stable income.
All this about bachelor degree and other stuff does not makes sense - as many people either are self-educated or have some certificate(s) within different areas.
As long as you can prove you can take care of yourself financially - have some insurance and a deposit on a bank account - that should be all good.

They are trying to figure out a way to invite people with money for economy boost without inviting all the poor backpackers that was on their streets begging for money. However, their requirements are too strict still.... 600 people in 3 years haha

    • @jellycoding
      @jellycoding 3 роки тому

@@xlchanlx That's why I said they should create tech hubs. Poor "begging" backpackers aren't interested in that. But digital nomads that are attracted to tech hubs can be poor (non rich). I think being a "digital nomad" implies one moves from place to place every so often as opposed to being a "remote worker" in which case a year-long lease might work. Having been both (corp biz dev exec for a FTSE100 company for 10 years and then independent consultant for 5 years), the Smart Visa program seems geared towards remote workers with stable income whereas monthly income for freelancers can fluctuate a lot. As a consultant, I often got paid US$5000 (159,000 BHT) one month and nothing the next month so hopefully they'll consider average monthly income over 6-12 months.

Interesting. I received conflicting information when I inquired about an Elite visa before. I was told, explicitly, that work done remotely wasn’t an issue so long as the money is sourced abroad. They also informed me that “work” is relative only to a THAI company, dealing with money sourced in Thailand, and if a job was taken from a Thai person.
I feel like some sorting out here would be beneficial since it seems communications are getting crossed somewhere…

I plan to be a digital nomad for the few months that it will take to finish saving the requisite 800K baht for the in-country retirement visa.
Even if my company doubles my salary -- which they won't -- I would be out of the running for that nomad visa.
Good news is that nomads (such as my future self) will continue to do what nomads always do.....travel and do work in their condos, hopscotching into various countries, and loving life. Thailand this month, Malaysia next month, Vietnam the month after that. Thailand gets their portion of income for that brief time when the nomad parks themselves at a coffee shop!

You should know that everything is contingent on digital nomads in Thailand. Contingency is based on entry Visas and internet speeds. There are really bad and different internet services in the Philippines that caused several foreign businesses to leave while having to deal with slow and unpredictable WiFi outages for both commercial and personal wifi.

@@Nerosink2000 Your simple response is not a solution to the Philippine internet problem. Your suggestion goes beyond logic and experience with the Philippine internet. Apparently, this is something you are not qualified for. Would you want to sign up and pay for other inadequate providers while your wasting time and money? Think about it.

You should have asked her how many of these visas they have granted. That would be interesting to know. Also, the complete costs what you have to do to get it. There has to be some people that want that, Chris?

Nice part of the city for a condo. Also half closer to Sukhumvit than your condo is, Chris. Maybe then, once wouldn't need the "motorbikes" to reach the main street.
The more I look at your videos, and also the one that CB Media did recently on BKK condos, the less I know where I would have to live when I'm in Bangkok

Thailand needs vast improvements to their network infrastructure to attract digital nomads. Some have said the Internet goes down when in rains in Bangkok. Looking at their chaotic telephone and network cabling it's no wonder. They aren't quite as bad as Manila, but they're close.

I guess aside from the delight of a country having your company, the question the visa applicant has to answer is, “what is the value you are bringing to Thailand”?
